I've noticed no heat issues on my ultra. I've not taken a ton of photos or videos but when I do I don't notice any heat. You may have a lemon or the exynos may act differently than snapdragon. Not sure how the exynos performs as mine is a snapdragon.
I have a Snapdragon and I haven't had any heat issues at all. We recorded my dog's protection training assessment, and had no heat issues, and that was an hour.

I did ask some users on other forums and realized that those who did not perceive much heating issues have been using the phone in a case. Do you use your phone in a case? I perceive the heating pretty much instantly due to the fact that I do not use my phones in a case.

Yes. I know. Though I do not like to meddle much with devices. I do know how to jailbreak, root and replace the firmware but these days I prefer to use devices the way they were designed. But I'll keep observing and using S21 ultra. Let's see how it goes.
Not suggesting jailbreak etc just reasonable caution and common sense really if you going to do 40 mins of recording then close all other unnecessary apps if you are concerned

"However, the Man in the Moon is just one interpretation of the Moon's features. Other cultures have seen very different shapes in the lunar surface.
Remember too that the Moon only looks this way in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere, people see the Moon the other way up."

I live near the equator.
What settings and set up is everyone using to get these great moon photos?

And thanks for that informative link! It’s funny how different cultures can look at the same object and come up with very different perspectives and interpretations. I actually didn’t see the “face” from my location last night, either, which is at the middle latitude of the US. That’s why I thought it might be seasonal.

I haven't changed any settings. I just use the focus lock.

Dxo score is up . It scored 5 points lower than the s20 ultra. I have no clue how that's possible. Ppl are losing their sh$t in the comment section
weird for sure...I had the S20 Ultra and feel like the S21 Ultra camera is much better.

Oh wait I had the Snapdragon models

I'm not surprised. Not ultra, but I have an S20+ and my partner has the S21+ (we're UK so both Exynos). To me, the camera on the S20+ looks better than the S21+.

I'm firmly sticking with the 20 tbh. In most areas the 20s feel like a downgrade in everything but version number.

Yeah I was going to report back that Hex Editor is really cool!

I have installed the simplest of the apps on there on my miniature S21.

The battery indicator on the pinhole front camera.

I am just loving the full screen and customizations.

It’s my first Android toy so forgive me.

Are you using the default auto settings though? Or manual mode? And are you using a tripod or hand holding it? I've got very steady hands and my moon photos are just overly white blurs. But I wasn't trying to seriously get anything. I was just out rolling the trash bin to the curb and seeing what I could get while I was out and happened to notice a full moon.

I find it hard to tell skunks and fluffy cats apart except in brightest moonlight. We have a few of both in my yard. That's why I don't try that much night photography at home, just on vacation. Skunks surprisingly don't move much when you almost trip over them. I'm very glad ours seem laid back. It could be awful for me if they were high strung.

Not sure why samsung phones seem to score so low all the time on dxo mark. But its an odd site to be honest.

Because they dont pay DxOMark anymore. DxOMark licenses out their expensive software they use for testing to manufacturers which gives them an idea of how their phone will score and how it can be tuned to score higher. Its basically a pay to win model. They used to be less bias until they basically became consultants to the phone manufacturers. So now, its in their best interest to give higher scores to the companies that used their software and help to develop "better" cameras.

Because people dont understand how DxoMark works. Whichever phone manufacturers pay for their testing software and consulting get higher scores because it benefits DxOMark. Its a pay-to-win strategy that DxOMark are happy to take advantage of.

This all became really public a while back when a OnePlus phone somehow got the highest DxOMark score ever when in reality the camera was average. It came out that OP had paid some pretty hefty fees to "work with DxOMark" in developing the camera software. They're a joke.

I remember that. I was always dubious of them, but as soon as they crowned OP king of all cameras, they forever lost all credibility to me.

Another thing about DXO that confused me, is there's no scale. It's just numbers that keep going up and up with the new phones that come out. In 20 years we will have the iPhone 33 that gets 874 DXO points.

to the couple of good honorable colleagues that have been on the thread since the build up and speculation about the launch,
my day has finally come to fruition

have gone with the “baby” S21
I prefer smaller phones for ease of handling

256GB phantom violet

I shall be using it without a case
the glastic back will save me the fingerprints

the black sleeve on the photo will be the carrying purse

now just taking my sweet time to retire the iPhone and start my learning Android curve with the endless discoveries and customizations

Now unboxed and setup

The fact they don’t have iPhone as best for video was shocking to me. That says it all. I’m not going to say s20 ultra camera was a failure but for them to rank the s21 ultra was worse is a joke to me

Update on my S21 Ultra handling struggles.. especially my poor and sore pinky!

I am currently using a Spigen Thinfit case on the Ultra and it has solved all my handling issues.

I have to say this case complements the design of the phantom black finish whilst adding the grip I needed. Naked was too slippy for my liking.

PS. Pinky is feeling much better. Happy days!

So I got offered a deal on a new s21 ultra 512gb that I couldn't refuse. Lol. My wife has my 12 pro max and airpods pro so no chance I'll get them back!
