Yes the 128 is 8GB ram but cheaper

Yeah, the first video I watched was Dave2D and he brought it up.

I don’t think that was the best route Samsung should of taken… it’s the “ultra” model. The entry RAM should be 12GB and go up to 16GB. This decision has me concerned about the upcoming Fold 4.

Because last year (S21)… and the year before (S20), the ultra models started at 12GB… if I’m not mistaken. It’s one thing cutting storage, but RAM is very important for user experience.

8 GB still very good, 12 is bit excessive for a phone but it can be handy for a multi tasking and ram hungry apps. It really depends how you gonna use your phone.

I am anxiously waiting for camera review on the ultra. The camera is the soul of this phone.

So...how do we order? Lol. I haven't gotten an email for my early reservation bonus with ordering link yet. In my experience that email often doesn't arrive until after orders have been open awhile.

Also they have colors exclusive to the Samsung site I never considered, like bright red. Wow

I agree that 8GB is still good, but I’m only looking at the pricing aspect of it. And 1199 was the same price for the S21 Ultra and Samsung gave it 12GB RAM.

Perhaps, with the introduction of the S-Pen… Samsung had to cut some corners. And I have a feeling they surveyed folks... most customers rather cut cost for RAM over storage.

Just watched the hands on video with MKBHD, one thing that stood out is that there seemed to still be a noticeably shutter lag on the camera app. I dont understand why Samsung cant figure this out when Apple and Google have basically eliminated it from their software.

So not talk about cpu and gpu. Features copy that iPhone has for years (video recording auto 24/30/60fps in low light). 5minute talk about vapor chamber - so power hungry cpu+gpu? Cameras with 1.8 and 2.2 light. It looks like disappointment for me.

Camera is as expected excellent but no optical zooming yet. Thanks God the vivid colours that Samsung is known for are gone this time. Pics looks balanced and natural...

Watching the presentation, I can already sense what Apple will "copy"
Vision booster: since Apple uses Samsung panels, they will probably get this tech as well. Super retina XDR Plus? :D

The cooling system. It's not news that throttling is becoming an issue for everyone, including Apple. I can see Apple using a similar cooling system. iCooler? :D

The SD8gen1 has throttling issues, worse than SD888, as shown on many reviews of the Xiaomi 12 pro. The cooling system is probably a must.

Just ordered mine (terabyte version) alongside the Buds Pro and the Watch 4. Says it arrives on the 25th. This is a very exciting phone after watching the live event. My last Samsung was the Note 10 and I honestly still miss that thing. Figured I'd try the whole Samsung ecosystem. I know it won't be like Apple's, but they've come a long way and they're not using stupid Tizen OS anymore on the Galaxy watch, and instead worked with Google to have Wear OS, so a lot more apps will work with the device. The 1750 nits of brightness for using it in the sun is a bit bananas. And this phone isn't a massive contribution to the CCP like the iPhone, so that's a bonus (although it's still contributing to Google).

Camera is as expected excellent but no optical zooming yet.
Never understood the point of doing these videos in 1080p 30 FPS doodoo resolution. It also looks badly compressed all around. I honestly prefer the Samsung video though as the iPhone tends to over-sharpen the living crap out of everything.

It's like you didn't even watch the video.

No ESIM support for the good old USA, makes it DOA for me a dual sim user.
This would have been a deal breaker, but I'm going back to one number and using a burner app for extra lines. Dual SIM has been kind of a hassle in general for me. That is very stupid, though.

I could. I got all the way through to booking delivery slot but had a change of heart and didn’t bother.

When I went on there was only a 10 minute wait. That changed quick by the sound of it!

I'm unable to order. My orders have just hung and then timed out. Initially the only way I was able to pre-order anyway was through the link on Technically Tee's Twitter. But that order hung for about 10 minutes and I had to kill it.
