I'm so weak. I wasn't gonna do it. Then I got sucked in. And I also pre-ordered a Tab S8 Ultra. I have a serious problem ,🤣

Looks like the ZF3 and either the P6P or 13 PM may be up for sale soon.

I really loved my N20 Ultra and missed it when I traded for my ZF3. Really looking forward to this phone.

You guys and gals are a bunch of addicts lol! I like it though because I get to live vicariously through all of y'all and read all about the latest toys!

tested ultra, man that is slippery phone... and too big for me... regarding pwm, not sure, feels probably better than 13 pro (playes with 13 pro for a minute and had nausea).. but after all, i wont buy flickery phone, so probably forrever stuck with ip 11 :D
Yeah I’ve got my trusty iPhone 11, too. I’m actually really happy with it and I got so many cute cases for it because I hope to use it until it’s not able to keep up with iOS updates.

I’m always nervous about updating OLED devices due to pwm. If this s22 Ultra doesn’t work out for me, I’ll give it to my husband since he didn’t order one this time around. But I’ll take his s21 Ultra since mine has to go in trade. I’m happy that so far, I’ve been able to use all my OLED Android phones with no problems. Some have been more comfortable than others but none have been debilitating. I’m not sure what Apple does differently, but their OLED displays have been problematic for me more often than not.

Obviously in the minority, but I want the regular 22. Super happy with my 13 PM, but I like both android and iOS and while iPhones are my primary phones I still like to have an android phone. My S9 recently died after 4 years (my fault).
The regular 22 seems very nicely appointed. I considered it but I had my concerns about battery life and then decided I really missed having a Note design. I sometimes switch back and forth and maybe next time I’ll go with the small phone again.

It’s a shame about your s9. I had a purple S9+ I really loved. I don’t have many upgrade regrets, but that one I really do regret trading away after only one year.

Latest poll from Gsmarena, Ultra results for the Ultra 🙂

Camera review embargo seems to have lifted.

Sounds like the general consensus is Samsung did a great job with the cameras. Apparently their lead in zoom is now miles ahead of everyone else and they’ve improved in night shots and portraits as well. The notable downsides were shutter lag still being a thing and causing moving objects to blur and video being good but still not rivaling the iPhone.

Watching the camera reviews made me think of something else slightly off topic…what’s the point of getting a Pixel anymore? Before I say this I will admit I’m probably a little biased due to my recent issues with the Pixel 6 lineup but let’s look at this. The perks of getting a Pixel previously over other android phones were software experience, faster/longer update support, and cameras. Two of the 3 of those Samsung has now eliminated and I could argue they have a better software experience now as well. I just don’t see a reason to recommend anyone buy a Pixel over a Samsung anymore.

It’s the same way with Microsoft Surface line… I think it’s more so Google wanting to build hardware for their ecosystem.

Microsoft and Google desires to mimic what Apple is doing… Controlling the hardware and software experience, they both want to do the same for their customer base. I understand where you are coming from, but sometimes I think its a matter of the company itself… having a portfolio of hardware to show off.

For me I like Samsung phones but it would be cost and camera. I haven't had a Samsu g in several years but if there is still shutter lag and blurring then I would say the camera is better on the Pixel, at least for some instances but then again I'm sure the camera is better than the Pixel in other areas.

But even from an ecosystem standpoint, Samsung blows Google away.

Phones - S22 Ultra over the Pixel 6 Pro easily.
Watch - No Pixel watch yet.
Tablet - S8 line over anything Google has ever produced
Earbuds - Several of the Samsung options are better than the Pixel Buds.

In my opinion, if you are interested in going all in on an ecosystem, you'll see the biggest benefit on the Apple side. But if you want to save money and you prefer android, going all in on Samsung is a smart choice. I dont think they've reached Apple levels yet, but they are making huge strides each year.

As someone who has owned the S21 Ultra, Pixel 6 Pro, and currently have an iPhone 13 PM I would say the only place where the Pixel wins for me is moving objects. I am by no means a camera expert and probably use it less than most, but thats how I see it. It funny because as someone who uses their camera 99% of the time for pictures of kids, the P6P was probably the best camera for me. But there were also a lot of times where the pictures didnt look great. I think part of it is that Google just havent dialed in the new cameras yet. And also because Apple and Samsung especially have just caught up.

As far as best camera, the way I see it (and I havent used the S22 Ultra so in some ways this is a guess), if you want the most consistent camera go with the iPhone. It takes consistently very good pictures and the video still blows the android phones away. If you want the most versatile camera, go with the Samsung. It has the zoom and lenses to capture the best pictures in good conditions. If you want the best camera AI and plan on taking pictures of a lot of moving objects, Pixels are still the best.

I’m supposed to get my phone on March 18. I don’t know what happened to the accessories bundle I ordered. It was supposed to be earbuds, charger, s flip case and their version of AirTag. Somehow I only got the s flip case. I guess they sold out when I got my confirmation.

I think todays smartphone cameras are all very very close to each other. Not much differentiates one from another or is head and shoulders above the rest.
The way I see it is user experience.

I mean if you have a lot of Apple products stick with an iPhone no matter what camera features other phones have. The consistency and interoperability cannot be matched. Apple provides a great user experience and integration with other Apple products. Face ID is unmatched in the smartphone space.

If you want the best hardware and latest features...Samsung phones cannot be beat. Their cameras have the best zoom on any smartphone. Their software experience has caught up to Apple and Google. Their pre-order extras are not matched by any other phone maker. They innovate and bring the latest features to their products.

IMHO Google offers the most technologically advanced user experience. I think they have the best AI and algorithm integration in the operating system and image processing. Then they also have the best digital assistant in the business and it integrates so well in their phones.

You really cannot go wrong with any of the top 3 flagship smartphone cameras

My white silicone case with strap arrived. It will be nice for day trip use but I think the slit in the back will let in too much grit that could scratch the phone. So it’s not something I’d use all the time. But I do like the assistance it gives me to hold the phone. First position of the strap is pretty tight though and I have small hands so I don’t know how some of you guys will like it. Second position of the strap is tight for my husband’s hand but he can get three fingers through and use his pinky as a bridge.

I agree with a few posts here ...Pixel for kids and pets still not going to be beat by Samsung ...Text dictation and assistant on the Pixel are next level no where close with Samsung or iPhone ..

Otherwise all have good cameras for most ..
Text dictation, camera for kids and pets, call and text spam screening all reasons it will be hard to part with the pixel 6 Pro. I just wish the battery life was better and the Tensor was more powerful. It's definitely the best effort Google has put forth with a Pixel but they always fall just short of putting together the complete package from a hardware perspective. Samsung knocks it out of the park with hardware most of the time and the software continues to get better and to me provides a better experience as a whole. My wallet just wishes I could have everything with one device. 🤣

Samsung has a new wallet app. You should buy an S22 Ultra and Tab S8 Ultra so you can try it out. ;)

I really want to just have one phone on each platform..I try I really do but it's not working ...I'm already talking to myself about what one needs to go when the Ultra arrives and I run it through the paces ...

For people I agree but for pets and portraits I've been very impressed by the results of the s22 ultra. Edge detection seems improved by a good distance
