Yeah normally similar time. Think pre orders often start after the event. Could be wrong though

S22 ultra will be an instant pre order for me. Mainly for S pen and the note design

Same, the Note design and the S Pen inside the phone is an instant buy for me too. It will be interesting to see how they market it tho, will they use the Note style or not.

Hearing some not great news regarding the S22 line and pricing. Apparently, all models will cost $100 more than the S21 line. That means $1299 for the S22 Ultra. Also, apprently they have cut back the RAM in all the base models to 8GB. If you want more, you have to increase storage. Kind of a ****** move from Samsung, especially with the Ultra model which is supposed to be...well, Ultra.

Indeed pricing seems bad but rumours saying SD for all regions dunno how true this is

Although I don’t agree with Samsung pricing with RAM and storage, but it’s something Apple recently has done with the M1 iPP.

I would have easily gone with a 128GB model with 16GB of RAM while using an external drive for extra storage, but that wasn’t in the cards. I enjoy having 1TB of storage.. being able to store as much stuff as I want is awesome, but all I really cared for was the 16GB of RAM.

The component shortage is real so I can see Samsung doing this. The price increase rumor is new though. So maybe Samsung is debating whether to increase the price or reduce the base RAM.

Samsung denied that. That was probably rumored due to another rumor of delayed Exynos 2200. But Samsung denied that.

It’s too late in production for them to change RAM configuration. Price could still change. It’s about this time we start hearing about pricing for phones (a month before release) because it’s starting to hit retail stores inventory and advertising material is being generated.

They could announce 2200 but doesn't mean they will use it on S22 series. Could mean for their next device after that who knows

No SD storage?
As for RAM I have never found any Android device to act like it has enormous reserves of RAM. It seems that the o/s itself just doesn't utilise it correctly so stuff drops out of RAM no matter how much there is available. I've always been massively disappointed by this.

Imo SD card slot (lack of) is a foregone conclusion. Neither the S21 series nor the Z Folds have it. With options for 512GB storage or higher probably available, and the fact that the S/Z series USB-C ports are USB3 (so using external USB3 drives are fast and easy), SD cards are less and less relevant.

I think Samsung don't want compromise anything on this phone. They want 100% success even better than the s21 Ultra.

I was bit turned off when i read the above post last week but didnt want to post it here.
I’m curious about the whole process. Why have two different chips in a model anyways? What’s the purpose? I’m sure it comes down to cost… right?

So, if Samsung is unable to manufacture they own chip for the S22 series… how would that affect cost? I recall Apple having two different modems for their iPhones… but I think they do it to help with scale, since they sell so many iPhones.

Cost and frequency band in some countries i guess but either way this is just excellent news , i really hope the rumour is true.

There must be a strong reason to cancel exynos 2200. Either its a failure or they run short on chipset.

Snapdragon all the way... That'd be great news for all our other friends that get stuck without one... As for SD card and headphone jacks those things are done for a long time now... No use looking for them..

Samsung was trying to fix overheating problems with the Exynos 2200 in the last couple of weeks but i think they couldn't fix that now. Glad they made swift decision before start producing mass units with faulty processor (assuming the rumours are true)

I can’t see SD card coming back anytime soon. All that does is deters people from buying the higher storage models because they know they can get away with base storage and get cheap storage from an SD.

Plus it just introduces instability to the OS because some apps have issues when running off of external storage or when storing files there.

This really will be the perfect device if true:

Snapdragon Processor
Note design
SPen inside the phone
Better battery life

Sounds like a great upgrade from my S21 Ultra. If all of this is true, consider me sold!

Sounds good to me too let’s see what Samsung has for those trade in specials.

Mainly cost, and US carriers' compatibility modem, which is practically locked in by Qualcomm for the licenses. So US version will mostly get Snapdragon, while in markets where Qualcomm modem is not needed, Samsung can save some money by using their own chips.

However, I think now it's more complex, as the chip shortages is real. In my country, Samsung even converted the Exynos S20 FE into Snapdragon last year (we are normally Exynos country).

What do they mean by "announcing it in the future"? Like it is going to be delayed?

Snapdragon 8 gen 1 is definitely bringing proper improvements, with much better GPU and better performance per watt. Definitely better than the trend they had with the 865 and 888 (where performance per watt were getting worse).
