Hi guys! Just dropping in to wish all the dads here a Happy Father’s Day. I hope you all have a great day.

I haven’t been posting much because I got a mild case of Covid that took a week to go away followed by a different strain that was super nasty. I had only one week of good health in between! o_O This is probably my third go around with Covid. I’m certain I had it when the pandemic started. There were no tests available then but it was a very unique combination of symptoms that has now unfortunately become familiar.

I’m not comfortable looking at screens and that’s why I’ve posted very little and read only a few minutes a day. Despite constant exhaustion, I’ve been sleeping poorly due to overall misery. This time my luck ran out and I lost my sense of smell and taste. I was so shocked when I took a bite of a chocolate bar and realized I could not taste it. I hope this is just temporary. Chocolate is my life. I can still taste coffee. Faintly. On the plus side, I can’t smell the litter boxes that I’m scooping! 😆

I did recently play with my S22 Ultra one evening of a huge full moon. I was so excited that I finally got some awesome moon photos! I’ve always been so envious of everyone else’s. My pet and family photos have also been turning out very well. I’m glad to see most everyone else seems as pleased with their S22’s as I am with mine.

Unfortunately, I don’t get very good battery life, but I think that is because I’ve been letting all my phones drain completely and just sit. While sick, I’ve been using my iPad mini mostly, and very sparingly. Also, I’ve got signal strength troubles here where I live. All my phones drain fast.

Overall this phone checks all the boxes. I DO use the S Pen. I’m always jotting down notes on it. The fingerprint sensor works well. Unlike past Samsungs, there’s been no pain point that is pushing me to want to unload it for something hopefully better. THIS is the Samsung I’ve been looking for. Even the poor battery life isn’t a hardship that’s going to compel an upgrade.

So, finally I am fully content. With gas prices and food and everything else going up, I’m keeping this phone and getting off the upgrade train. That’s what I should have done when I had the S9+ I was so happy with. I’m not going to make that mistake again. This one is a keeper!

I like my pixel 6 Pro, too. Unfortunately the S22 Ultra makes it a bit redundant, so there’s no point in continuing that upgrade path. It’s absolutely a good phone and when I want the Pixel experience it’s here for me. If Google ever makes a good truly small Pixel Pro I might be tempted. It’s tough because the pixel 6 Pro and the S22 Ultra are pretty much the same size and fill the same niche for me. If the S 22 Ultra camera were significantly lacking then I’d have a more compelling use for the Pixel. But they’re ridiculously comparable now. And the super zoom and the S Pen are just too compelling for me.
I hope you get better, or at least you get to taste chocolate again soon Mom.

I say that every year, but alas...
Though these last few years have a been a bit harsh and I do wonder if a increase in camera quality is worth an upgrade?

Get well! Glad to hear that you are enjoying the Samsung. Stay off the upgrade path for a while, enjoy what you have and smile at your improved bank balance. Take care.

Hopefully your past this stretch and feeling better going forward …I’ve decided to buckle down myself and stop the upgrades …so I say now anyway …haha
I’m going to keep both my Ultra and Pixel till next year …I started using the Pixel as daily from yesterday which was not great on battery I ran it pretty fast yesterday but let’s see how it handles this week upcoming …the thing that has me using my Ultra more is Bc of the screen brightness ..it’s just so noticeable when switching and using daily ..Samsung screen is such a joy …typing this from my IPhone 12 Pro and also thinking might keep this phone till 15 …I’m usually picking up my Android side mostly anyway …

But Marcus is not all about Apple.
He is almost ever carrying an Android phone in his other pocket. ( So he says)
Well, they both favor Apple... they use Android phones mainly for review purposes. Arun just recently switched over to Apple primarily for social media purposes, but they both carry Android and iPhone.

If that is the case they are certainly talking about the snapdragon version.

Platinum award for S22 Ultra.

Years ago when i bought my Note10+ i i felt i was ripped for the price i paid even though i really liked the phone.
With the 22U its well worth it, in fact a second one is on its way.

I’m using my S22 Ultra and my iPhone 13 Pro Max. If Samsung made the battery in the Exynos version just as good as my iPhone, I would switch over fully to the S22 Ultra.

I think the camera on my S22 Ultra, is better (especially with the zoom).

Thank you. My viral load finally went down so I no longer test positive so I'm grateful for that. I can visit my mom at assisted living again later this week and have her over to my house as well. Which is important for her mental health. She's gone so stir crazy there.

I've put the camera through all the paces and it's met all my wish list points I'd had for past phones from both Apple and Samsung, so I definitely am content to stay on this phone. I actually would have happily stayed on my S21 Ultra if it hadn't had a crack or whatever it was on one of the lenses.

I like the colors it produces. Samsung in the past did some weird things with green lawns.

If I did have a regret it may be getting green instead of burgundy. Maybe. Lol it depends on the day the week!

Just downloaded the July update, in the UK and on the S22 Ultra (Exynos).

The one thing that continues to amaze me about this phone, is the zoom capability. I have taken pictures at 10x, 20x and even at 100x (the 100x was of the moon), all pictures have been great. My iPhone 13 Pro Max cant do 100x, in fact it can only go to 15x and even at that, its picture quality isn’t as good as my S22 Ultra.

I wonder what Samsung will do with the S23 Ultra in order to push the cameras even further? As far as I’m concerned they are already great. The only thing that i would like from the S23 Ultra, is better battery life, iPhone 13 Pro Max level battery life would be awesome.
