It’s not just you. Sometimes I’ve also seen it look kind of light “eggplant”. It most definitely isn’t a true burgundy in most of the photos I’ve seen. But in person it may live up to the name “burgundy”.

Its definitely burgundy very popular colour here in Australia but its not for me.

Please rotate comparison table below for better viewing. The 3 models share the same processor , gorilla victus glass and other specs otherwise the Ultra is superior in terms of screen resolution and camera.

Thanks for posting that. Yeeurgh, the ppi isn’t so great for the S22+. I don’t know if that would bother anyone though. I do notice when I am comparing screens, but in day to day I probably wouldn’t. Still, I admit to being spoiled by the pixel densities of past displays.

I’m thinking the 12/256 combo for the Ultra would be a nice choice for me. The burgundy reminds me of a car I drove in college. It was my mom’s but she let me drive it after she wrecked the used but adorable black and white car I got as a high school graduation present. I never even got to drive it because I was still working on getting my license and had to drive her old burgundy mess. She wasn’t supposed to drive my car but yeah, try telling your mom she’s not allowed to do something. 🤣 She ran us on black ice or something right into the back of a tractor trailer (back before those bar thingies were outlawed for decapitating people). I watched it come at me in slow motion and stop just at the windshield. I was so mad at my mom, but you never, ever ever yell at or tell off a traditional Asian mother. You. Just. Don’t.

You’d think I wouldn’t want the burgundy phone after all that, but that burgundy mess of a car outlasted all our other cars and served me well and fostered my love of driving beat up old cars! Nothing but love!

My second car was burgundy and i really loved it but that love didn't last long when black models of the same car start hitting the road.

Charcoal, black, dark blue, navy blue, grey and silvers are my favourite doesn't matter if its Ferrari or Corolla.

Thanks for posting that. Yeeurgh, the ppi isn’t so great for the S22+.

I'd rather get a downgraded ram and storage than downgraded ppi even though the specs for the plus are very good.

Where I live almost all the cars are now black, grey, charcoal. Very rarely is there a blue or red, even. Champagne gold has completely disappeared. White is almost gone except for utility vehicles. My own truck is black. My 30 year old car is blue with a hint of green. My car that’s about 14 that my dad gave me for my birthday a couple years ago is a light blue. I don’t see that color very often anymore.

On the one hand, I’m sick of the sameness. On the other hand, I like driving my truck because if someone decides to get weird and follow me, it’s easy to get lost in the crowd. I don’t do personalized vanity plates for that reason. We’ve got some real maniacs around.

Anyone else with a s21 ultra considering upgrading?

My only apprehension is going back to the sharp corners of the note. I actually really enjoyed going to the s21 ultra from note 10+, because it was much more comfortable to hold, and especially put in your pocket. Even though they were physically the same size the sharp corners make the note phones feel much larger.

It is one of those details that seems minor, but in practice is really major from a use ability standpoint.

I'm not sticking with the S21 Ultra as i prefer the design, I had the Note 20 Ultra prior to this which i sold due in the sharp corners & size which use to dig into my leg when in the pocket even in a case.

S21 Ultra is a great phone & still will be when the S22 Ultra comes out next month, so I'm gonna hang onto it for another year & wait for the S23, hopefully Samsung will bring back the 1440p screen to the S23 line not just the Ultra but we see, 1080p still looked decent with 120hz on my Note 20 Ultra.

Haha is Samsung playing mind games or this could be true 🤔

First time ever Note & S fans will be ordering same phone/same time so it might affect supply issue plus chipset shortage.

My thoughts too. I loved the Note line and all the functionality it provides but the sharp corners kinda made it hard to hold for any length of time for me anyways.....

But I do intend on getting the S22 Ultra and trading in my s21 U on it.

I love my s21 Ultra and have really enjoyed owning it. And I’ve admired its beautiful black finish and sleek shape just about every day I’ve had it. The only reason I’m not keeping it is there’s this tiny hairline defect in one of the camera lenses. I am reasonably sure I didn’t put it there and that it was probably there from the beginning. To me, it looks like it’s developed into a crack despite the fact I don’t use it outside the home anymore. My husband thinks it’s a scratch. I don’t feel like dealing with customer service to get it addressed, whatever it is. I’ve got too many other things going on in my life right now.

And anyway, neither of us likes the indoor action photos our Ultras take. Even with updates, these just aren’t as good with photos of kids and pets as the Pixel 6 Pro is. I’m looking forward to seeing what the newer cameras can do. (Though again, this isn’t why I am letting go of the s21 Ultra).

And I appreciate I’ll get the S Pen inside of the device but not sacrifice any battery capacity. I was so pleased to hear that news! Again, this isn’t the basis for trade.

It all comes down to whatever is going on in that lens.

Honestly, none of these large phones are comfortable to hold in my smallish hands that are starting to show signs of arthritis pain. But I’ve discovered if I stick a ring holder on the back, I can hold all of them without hardship now! I get these things from Velvet Caviar. They’re powerful adhesive backs with rings attached. I also can use them as kickstands for the phones.

It seems like everything about the S22 line up has leaked  is everyone excited for event and the new devices?

One of the leaks mentions that the prices will remain the same, however the 128GB version of the S22 Ultra will have 8GB Ram instead of 12GB, the 256GB will however get 12GB Ram as will the 512GB version. Will this make a difference in everyday use? Personally I’m probably going to go with the 256GB version anyway.

I also wonder if the prices here in the UK will be lower due to the Exynos chip, the S21 lineup and the Note 20 Ultra had cheaper prices for this very reason.

I’m excited! I always enjoy a good dog and pony show. I get interested in how hard they’re trying to sell their concept of an ecosystem in these presentations. I don‘t think I’ll ever buy fully into that. But I find it fascinating, nonetheless.

I think 12/256 gb will work for me. Sure, I’d love 512 GB but I haven’t used 8k recording yet and I know I won’t this year, either. 8 gb RAM is surely sufficient, but I like the wiggle room of 12 if it’s coming with the 256 option anyway. If I have to pay extra…then no.

What’s funny is that nothing about the S22 lineup to me is “exciting”, but it will probably be the best phone you can buy and that in itself is exciting I guess.

I think I’ve reached the point where there’s nothing more exciting to me done on regular slab phones. Foldables however, I am very excited about. I went from thinking they’re a gimmick to being fully convinced they are the future.

The revival of the Note is exciting enough for millions around the world and super exciting for S fans who will be buying a better equipped phone than S at almost same price even though few are not happy with the inclusion of the s pen slot at the expense of battery power.

For me its my first 5G, first Snapdragon and first 120 mhz powered phone so i am super excited.
Add to that all the new Camera and other features of the S22 Ultra.

I agree with this 100%, the fact that we are getting a Note in all but name is exciting enough. I returned the Note 20 Ultra because of bad battery life, in part it was due too the Exynos chip at the time. I’m hoping the S22 Ultra takes the battery life of the S21 Ultra or better and is as good.

While I really like my S21 Ultra, I prefer the SPen to be in the phone and the boxy design of the Note series.

Not long now :)

The S22 just looks just like my Note 10 Plus. So underwhelming after all these years. Never bothered with the S series and now no longer interested in the Note series given the Galaxy Fold series..

If the Fold 4 doesn't deliver as a significant replacement to my faulty Fold 2, it looks like I may be returning to the iPhone 14 given that it now resembles my favourite phone design; the iPhone 4. Will I be able to put up with iOS after 10+ years. In any case the S and Notes series have no appeal to me with their current designs.

Yeah I’ve been surprised to see many comments like yours around, not that I disrespect your opinion, I am just surprised is all. To me the S22 Ultra looks beautiful. I haven’t paid any attention to the iPhone 14 but if it’s rumored to look like the iPhone 4, that’s a welcome return. I was very fond of my iPhone 4. But again that’s not anything new and exciting, it’s OLD and welcome. As is the return to traditional Note styling for the S22 Ultra. The “big rectangular slab” look with non prominent camera lenses is something of a necessity for a device meant to be written on. The only way I could like it more is if the display itself were flat.

Where I think Samsung made a misstep was in giving the S22+ a lower spec display than the one on the Ultra. That’s going to feel like a bit of a loss to everyone who was used to having a high end S non-note phone. They can call the Ultra an S series phone but we all know it’s a Note.

In other news…Samsung marketing got to me again and I reserved one of their fancy shmancy vacuum cleaners https://www.techradar.com/news/sams...-release-date-and-everything-you-need-to-know

I don’t know if I’ll actually go through with this purchase. I own some good vacs. But they’re heavy beasts and my stick vacs are mediocre and a mess to empty.

Be interesting how many will be pushed to ultra if the other models are longer waiting times
I don't think it's a matter of availability... those who are interested in the S22/S22 Plus will wait until they are released. And regardless if Ultra model is released before the others one, it's going to be a shortage on the Ultra model.

If buyers don't pursue the Ultra early... expect ship dates to go back months. If rumors are true Samsung is staggering the release of the S22/S22 Plus and Ultra. I haven't did the early preorder for the S22 Ultra... my hands are set on the Fold 4, but I'll be excited for those who get their hands on the Ultra early!

Also, most of the people that preorder phones are tech people that have been waiting for a certain model to be released. And tech fans typically don’t go for the lowest tier of a release. Samsung know this and that’s probably why they are prioritizing the Ultra to make sure it releases on time.
