I don't think it's a matter of availability... those who are interested in the S22/S22 Plus will wait until they are released. And regardless if Ultra model is released before the others one, it's going to be a shortage on the Ultra model.

If buyers don't pursue the Ultra early... expect ship dates to go back months. If rumors are true Samsung is staggering the release of the S22/S22 Plus and Ultra. I haven't did the early preorder for the S22 Ultra... my hands are set on the Fold 4, but I'll be excited for those who get their hands on the Ultra early!

S22 ultra will certainly be a day 1 pre order for me.

Fold wise I guess it depends what the fold 4 provides if I upgrade it or not. I’m actually tempted to keep it another year. I only really use the outer display anyway so if they make the front display wider that’s not a deal breaker. 2 to the 4 will be a good upgrade for you though

Yikes I just checked my S21 Ultra Storage. I've got the 16/512 model and definitely would edge close to filling 256 GB already. What the heck is taking all the space on this phone? I had a lot moved over from my old SDcard. I was planning to get the 256gb model. I'm not even sure anything else will be available given how they often have weird and constrained availability for colors and sizes at launch.

I am almost full on my Note10 plus only 1% left to go then i have to delete things. Was hoping to get s22 in weeks time but i think it'll be months now.

It was tough to get the 256GB s21 ultra. I pre-ordered day one, and had to wait nearly 3 weeks to get mine in (base model, and 512 came on time).

They then quietly stopped making it later on in the year.

Samsung always discontinue all their flagships every year to make room for the new models. So each year, they only have a limited production run.

How much is the system taking up? On my fold 3 system takes up 51GB

Makes me glad I got 512GB as I'm using 193GB already

I'm really looking forward to seeing the S22 Ultra being announced on Wednesday. Any ideas at what time the pre-orders will happen? Do they sometimes go live during the livestream or a few hours later, in the UK?

Most of the rest is images and videos and audio. I don’t recognize the audio files. But I think they are ringtones that came with themes I’ve downloaded.

I guess I can ensure the videos and images are secured somewhere in the cloud and take it back down to just system and other files and fit into 256 Gb again. The bulk of the videos and images are all from previous Samsung phones and were moved from my SD card that we can no longer use.

But if it’s true that it’s only $50 to jump up to 512 gb I’ll take that. I may be limited to a black phone then. But it’s not like I can make up my mind on color choices anyway. And I’d be using a case, too.

I am having such a hard time with this ultrasonic fingerprint reader. It absolutely hates my fingerprints. I keep re registering them and they work for a day and that's about it. I hope the new phone has a better scanner. I don't expect they have updated the hardware, but I hope I just get lucky in a "luck of the draw" way, like I did with the fps on my Pixel 6 Pro.

Otherwise I feel really stupid dropping a huge chunk of change on a business oriented device I can't actually conduct my business on. I'm often stymied when I need to enter an account via biometric authentication on this phone. On my Pixel and my iPhone, I'm always good to go.

As I recall, the fingerprint scanner wasn't too bad the first few months I had this s21 Ultra.

I came across one of my earlier posts when this thread was new. 🤣😂😅😆

It did not age well.

I was so sure I was going to keep this S21 Ultra and had no interest in upgrading this year. Now I sing a different tune!

To be fair, I still think highly of the s22 Ultra. It is one of the most beautiful I've ever owned. I currently have it in a black Caudabe case that hugs its contours so it looks almost caseless. I'll miss the looks of it for sure.

But I have grown very fond of the boxy look of the s22 Ultra. I miss having a true Note phone and again, we all know that's what this is!

I wish I knew for sure the regional availability and pricing for the colors and configurations I'm interested in. White 512 gb is my favorite option, currently. But I'm open to whatever is available in 512. I wonder if there really will be a 1 terabyte option. That would probably cost a small fortune. I'd get it if I thought I was going to keep the s22 Ultra more than a year. But I have my doubts, especially now that I'm done with iPhone upgrades for awhile and plan to use my Pixel 6 Pro 2 years.

UK is getting Exynos. I’m excited to hear how Exynos 2200 will do for you all this year. Early word on SD 8 Gen 1 is that it’s prone to overheating and throttling. I haven’t read all the reports and am just going on commentary from the peanut gallery on social media. It will be interesting to see whether or not Samsung manages to provide performance parity between the two versions.

I absolutely loathe putting up with overheating, but I can put up with it for a year if it’s largely confined to gaming and everything else works as it should.

I did used to play a lot of games on my previous Samsungs, but I don’t have any free time anymore and what teeny tiny bit I can eke out these days for games, I spend on my Switch and that’s amounting to only about 15 minutes a couple of times since Christmas.

I hope to get the bulk of my life back by summer, after I relocate my mom to partially assisted living closer to my house. Long term, I’ve got my eye on Steam Deck, but only after they’re widely available. I’m not climbing over the bodies of vanquished rivals to get one. 🤣

I reserve that kind of energy just for my smartphone fanaticism!

I’m looking forward to seeing what Samsung have in store feature wise. I read an article earlier that was talking about how Samsung are using a few new rather clever AI and software tricks to the cameras this year. If these new features turn out to be as good as they sound Samsung could have the best camera setup on a smartphone by a wide margin. However…. I wait to see it before I believe it.

I do wish Samsung would ditch the curved displays on their ultra models now though. I think they look dated.
