The S23 had better signal?

yep.. I was on a train to London and the s23u had great 5g the iphone14pm kept losing it. In fact I missed a couple of calls on the ip14pm and when I put the sim back in the s23u it was great.

I should say, in normal use around town I don't have any problem with the ip14pm but the s23u was definitely better this time

Also, curious, what were your impressions when your SIM was back in your iPhone? Other than the signing docs, did you immediately miss the Ultra?

oh no, can opened, worms everywhere :)

As short a summary as I can.... sim back in iphone, ahhhh comfortable... feel like I know what's going on.... hmmmm why cant I get to notifications? ah not android.. but hang on, I prefer apple notifications? why am I missing android? mmmmm bored... I'll play with the phone. hmmmm miss the s23 camera settings and customisation... hmmmmm but hang on , I'm supposed to be working anyway so just stick with the phone of least resistance.. iphone is fine... not fun, but ok.

Then things went a bit mad with urgent docs to sign and frustration ensued... back to s23u, signed docs, sent them, felt happy, started messing with the camera and some different icon packs LOL

What's funny is that there's such a stigma that the iPhone is so much simpler and user friendly, but look at a situation where if you didn't have the S23 ultra, You would have had to go through so many more loops.

yeah very true and tbh in my mind that day I was in that mode a bit? "iphone comfy, familiar, easy, boring" and I could've done the work on there if I'd tried harder ;-) but it was just easier on the s23u

so yep you're spot on right

It's like crack addicts on here. I am fiending for my iPhone fix.

I have not had much urge to use iOS. In fact when I use my iPad the first thing that bothers me is the back gesture on iOS. I swipe left, I swipe right and nothing happens. Then I remember this isn't Android. Lol.

I do like the general look of iOS but I really don't miss it to the point I use it a couple times and I am not sure if I will keep using my S23U.

Maybe the iPhone 15 or 16 will bring me back but for now there is nothing pulling me away from the ultra.

totally feel the same way. (and I'm worse on windows v macos)

to be really honest, other than faceID on ios, I'm enjoying the s23u much more and I don't massively miss the iphone.

When I'm on windows, I constantly feel the urge to swap to macos... and then immediately feel the urge to swap back.

I'm clearly just completely doomed.

I definitely noticed that I like MacOS a lot for everything aside from file management. I really struggled with that on the MacBook. File management is just so much better on Windows.

yeah I've never liked file management on macos. Even little things like when copying on windows it tells me how fast it's happening.

...but by far the most annoying thing for me on macos is having to click into an app and the click again to do something. I much prefer click through on windows

Now we are delving into MacOS? 😂

Here I am divided. I am a big Unix/Linux fan in general and like the terminal.

BUT things like right clicking, copy and paste, file management are just easier on Windows.

That being said the telemetry in Windows and Edge is really bad and getting worse. Microsoft wants to advertise it's products on the start menu and who knows where that will end up.

I have a message for Apple and Microsoft. Your business models are based on profit selling hardware and or software not generating ad revenue or data harvesting. Stop trying to generate new revenue streams and get back to your business models.

For Microsoft I hate this entire Windows as a service business model. Office 365 subscription is a joke. Let's return to trying to make a profit off of new versions of Windows and Office that I get to own and not buy a recurring subscription for.

The Windows as a service has degraded the user experience since it's inception. Once you no longer pay for something and it becomes a subscription or service you don't have to make a good product because it is constantly under development. When Windows released a version like XP and people paid for it, Microsoft had to deliver a decent product worth the cost and now as a service new releases of Windows are just another update.

It seems Apple is wanting to go the same direction and besides selling hardware, sell a bunch of services. 🛑 Please stop. Make better hardware and keep improving your software and stop trying to turn a profit around every corner. It pisses your customers off. As soon as you start opening the door to selling services you open the door on snooping on your customers to market stuff to them. Apple used to be really good with Privacy and they still are decent but they need to prioritize privacy, selling hardware, improving the software around privacy NOT telemetry and ads.

Okay rant over.

I learnt that lesson many years back in a work situation, when push comes to shove with Android there always seems a solution and not a hard wall you hit with IOS

Battery life is doing great! I definitely spend way too much time on Reddit. 😶

Refreshing to see a battery chart without YouTube lol

I know many show how amazing their battery life is but I’ve seen many who have like 3-4 hours on YouTube which is known for making your battery stats look better. Doesn’t drain that much on YouTube

I'm definitely very impressed with this battery... I usually don't even have to look at what's running in the background or anything and at the end of the evening I always have plenty to spare... Which had me thinking about the s24 rumors of going away from the snap gen chip..smh

I use Google Pay. I literally just paid for breakfast and it went straight to home screen post payment. I assumed that was how it's supposed to work. Maybe I have a defective product
Well I got a watch update a few days ago, and now when I use GooglePay, it does back to the come screen after I use it.

So it seems that something in the watch OS fixed it.

Welp. Just sold my MacBook, ecosystem finally escaped! I'm going to do my best to stay on Android for the forseeable future. I really do like how the platform has evolved. If anything, I might pick up a Pixel 7a when it comes out to have as a 2nd play device.
Although I am enjoying my S23U, I couldn't give up my iMac. MacOS is just a lot better than Windows in my opinion.

I can't stand Windows. Win10 isn't too bad, but I really don't like Win11.

I haven't used a laptop or desktop in so long( probably over 10 years), my phone has replaced both

It is funny. Before the s23 ultra I used my laptop and tablet a lot more. I still use my tablet but I find I barely use my laptop anymore.

Mainly it is the s23 ultra and with the s pen I can fill out documents and sign and the screen is big enough for me that it is actually usable.

It really is a "Pro" phone if there ever was one.

The Beeper app is working great on my Ultra. I had to put my SIM back into my iPhone last week because it was really tough without iMessage. Now, I have blue bubbles on my Ultra. No constant-running server needed, either. So, whenever I am out, my iPhone is in my backpack/purse, with my Ultra using the iPhone hotspot.
