Hi everyone.
1. Anyone pleased with the bluetooth sound in car audio? I really dont like the S23 Ultra bluetooth output. Any suggestions? Dolby Atmos was on, i "like" it more with atmos on.
2. Any way to change the . symbol on samsung keyboard with the ? symbol???
3. If you bought this phone for main, 3x and ultrawide cameras, stay off and look elsewere, 10x camera, hands down is the best. Any way to disable over saturation in cameras photos and videos? I have scene optimization, tracking focus, jpg output, not heic, ENABLED.
4. Disable enhanced comfort in eye protection dysplay settings menu.

Switching off scene optimiser will help with this

Could always change the display from vivid to natural

Looks like my Valentine's Day is ruined. My S23U is arriving tomorrow instead of today like it was scheduled.

This look does look cool, I need this for my Ultra! Could you provide instructions on how to do the install, cheers.
You bet!

- Download the LineX icon pack on the play store
- Download Good Lock and the Theme Park Module
- Once in Theme Park, click on Icons
- Create New
- Click on Icon Pack
- Choose LineX
- Apply

You'll have to name your setting too. It's not perfect. There are some apps that still don't have custom icons, but it's way better than icons in the Galaxy Store.

Well I'm only just now sitting down to my morning coffee after staying up to 2 am doing laundry. No, that's not normal around here but sometimes happens.

I took some photos just sitting here at the dining room table and my iPhone 11 produced the most pleasing images in terms of color and saturation and exposure and sharpness. Its photos just looked like photos from a camera and not an AI CGI fest. IPhone Pro Max was dead last in terms of making the scene look harsh and cold even when I turned on Warm in styles. It just handles light coming in from the window harshly, desaturating and over contrasting it.

Pixel 6 Pro was similar to that but less harsh.

S22 Ultra was less saturated than s23 Ultra. S23 Ultra oversharpened just a teeny bit and oversaturated a teeny bit. I'd gotten used to more accurate levels of saturation from the S22 Ultra so I am not thrilled to see this difference. But last night the S23 Ultra handled Christmas lights like a pro. Our tree is still up because I'd gotten sick.

The S22 Ultra did this weird thing with the LED lights that causes some weird horizontal lines to appear across each bulb in 3x zoom. S23 Ultra doesn't do this.

I think my S22 Ultra display is prettier. The white is warmer and that's more pleasing to my eye and the screen is brighter and has more contrast at the same settings.

The S23 Ultra has more off axis color shift to a sort of aqua blue. My S22 Ultra doesn't have much off axis shift to speak of. It will be interesting to see what my husband's S23 Ultra display will be like.

I'm not sure how much I mind. And I do need to get rid of the Supershieldz screen protector I applied after midnight last night. It's not great. I ordered a Samsung branded screen protector last night that will be here in a couple of days.

I would have preferred to have a display exactly like my S22 Ultra's. But as long as this one doesn't give me any eye strain or headaches I won't really notice the difference eventually. At least there are no obvious defects.

I've played with the settings quite a lot on the s23u and it's pretty perfect but I do think the defaults aren't great tbh.

The main thing for me is that samsung consistently uses a slow shutter speed than other phones which doesn't help motion blur at the defaults and does tend to produce a different "look".

Of course all cameras do it on full auto. They play with shutter speed, ISO and aperture to get to their ideal shot but I do agree that out of the box, samsung defaults are a little... unique LOL of course when you play with them, the brilliance of the system really shines but not everyone wants to do that!

I don't know what experts samsung had working out their algorithm here but it could do with a tweak IMHO.

The S22u had lens flare, as do a lot of iphones, which played heck with strong single lights such as christmas bulbs. (made 100x worse if there's ANY dirt/grease/fingerprints on the lens. So worth giving the camera lenses a very good clean if you're seeing that effect)

It's not just that the S22 had that eye comfort turned on and s23 doesnt is it? It always used to get me on the iphone when someone had trutone on and the whites all looked a bit warmer but loads of people prefer it.

Hi everyone! I haven't posted anything on the forums in a very long time, but I've been watching the S23 Ultra reviews and eyeing making a post in this thread once I saw @GrumpyMom in here, just like in the early days of the Pixel. How times have changed, but our interests and social nature have not!

Speaking of the Pixel, the last time I was really active on these threads was when the Pixel 3a was released. It's interesting to me, how I've traditionally stuck only to switching between iPhone and Pixel. I guess you could say that today, we are going to reinvent the phone. Or at least the one I'm using, lol.

In all seriousness though, the S23 Ultra will be my first non-Pixe/non-iPhone phone in almost 10 years. Yes, back in 2014, I tried the Galaxy S5, and I hated it. Bring back Google Play Edition smartphones, they said. And then last year, I had a three-month stint with the S22 Ultra, though the hardware wasn't quite what I expected and the battery life left a bit to be desired.

But I'm here now. And thanks to Samsung's trade-in values, I was able to completely switch ecosystems (from iPhone 14 Pro to Galaxy S23 Ultra, from Apple Watch Series 8 to Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, and from AirPods Pro to Galaxy Buds2 Pro) for under $900 total. I just hope it's not a mistake, but I don't think it is based on the reviews I've seen.

Anywho, my phone, watch, and headphones will all be here on the 15th, in about 36 hours, hopefully. I ordered the lavender color of the phone and headphones, and I ordered an iridescent case for the phone and an apple-style Alpine Loop band for my watch from Amazon. I can't wait, and I'm happy to be part of these forums again.
Yayyyyyyy! Welcome back! I can't wait to get all of your impressions of your new gear!

I'm loving the lavender. Sometimes it is white. Today it's a pale pink that reminds me of my favorite nail polish shade when I was a teenager. Sometimes it actually is lavender. Lol!

I really love the lavender Samsung silicone case. But I do need a strap or ring to support the weight of this slab more comfortably.

I can't unbox my other cases because I'm not sure I'm keeping this phone. I've got a headache and I don't know if it's from the display or how dry our air has gotten the last few days. I am worried it's from the display. I'm going to mess with some settings.

argh that's not good :( I hope it's not the screen but I know from experience with other phones how bad that is

Eye comfort shield was off on both. I just ripped the Supershieldz screen protector off and what a difference that makes. Terrible brand, do not get. (I love this brand's other products, just not this one!)

There is still an off axis color shift but it's not nearly so obnoxious now. That screen protector was making micro distortions that produced a tiny glittery effect.

Funny you should say that! I guess those of us who are sensitive to this kind of thing will always see this worse than others.

There was a time when all the monitor manufacturers started putting this antiglare coating on their screens and as soon as I saw it I hated it. All my eyes could focus on was the glittery effect! I asked Dell if I could buy one without (I can still hear their laughter) but to me it was headache city!

Thing is, I showed so many people who just didn't see what I saw.

Yeah it's something I noticed years ago applying film protectors to iPhone. The screen protector I have on my S22 Ultra is remarkable in that it produces no distortions whatsoever. But it slightly affects color. Very very slightly. So I removed it as well, just now.

I equalized all display settings and from what I can tell, head on the two displays are very close, after all. In fact, the S23 Ultra is slightly more pure white head on.

It's at an angle that I will see a teal cast to my S23 Ultra display. Unless off axis color shifting somehow triggers my migraines, this is something I will eventually not notice. I'm just being super picky now because everything is so new. I'm not returning a non defective device over a minor preference I noticed mostly because I had 2 phones side by side.

Some things I wish Apple would do...
have a back button or swipe that consistently works across apps like android
allow proper and complete customisation of the home screen, icons etc.
Give up the rounded edges on the screen and make it square like the S23ultra
Allow different sound sources to go via different bluetooth connections (so when I play music on my bluetooth speaker the message alerts etc. dont play over it too) android does this nicely
Have a periscope telephoto lens... PREFERABLY I'd borrow 5x from the pixel pro 7, and 10x from the S23ultra to have 1x, 5x, 10x
Give me PRO camera options to do whatever messing I want to do!
allow proper access to the filesystem so when plugged in I can copy anything not just photos (they'll never ever do this)

Some things I wish google/samsung would do...
allow a lot more on the always on display! my iphone shows the current weather as a background, several widgets including news AND it shows the content of incoming notifications if I like too. Android was first here but needs to up its game.
Notification options... yep I want more :) I've managed to get them in time order and the lock screen autoshowing but its still not as useful as iphone notification system (android friends disagree and point to a more consistent experience on android so I guess this is just me)
Give up trying to preinstall multiple apps for the same thing (OEM, Google, Microsoft... seriously?)
Somehow regulate the quality of apps in the playstore because wow are some of them bad! perhaps it's the android apis/dev kits but so many apps are silky smooth on the iphone and then the same app on android is a hot mess crashing all the time etc.

Sitting here with the latest and greatest from samsung and apple in front of me, it's closer than every before. Few years ago I would NEVER have considered android but for me personally now I could do everything I need on both it's just a matter of what's slightly worse and what's slightly better on each :)

Reason I'll keep the S23ultra in my pocket? The cameras. I know not everyone is mega impressed and I can definitely show some shots that work better on the iphone or pixel7pro but again personally, the s23ultra has that 10x and 200Mp which are amazing. PLUS the freedom to do whatever I want with the settings.

Reason I'll keep the iphone in my pocket? stable consistent apps, notifications (and apple pay to some extent)

My gut techie feeling is that Apple have the easier path from here. It won't take much for them to add a periscope zoom camera and that'll narrow the difference considerably. They COULD give me more options and customisations though that's less likely because, you know, "it's apple's way or the highway".

On the other hand, as much as google/samsung do with great new cpus and AI, the system has to struggle with inconsistent, badly written apps, mainly from third parties. I can think of some things they can do to help but no quick fixes on that one for them probably.

At the moment if I imagine Apple adding a periscope lens this year... I'd PREFER an updated phone design too.... and then let's be brave and imagine a foldable next year, it's hard to see them losing.

Yeah, Samsung implemented this back in OneUI 3.5… if I”m not mistaken.

Some apps don’t have their own custom icons, but you can always change the icon to whatever you see fit. I have way too many Icon Packs installed lol

When you show up there if you get a good sales rep they should be able to cancel the order on the spot and then pick up the new color for you assuming that it's in stock in store ..and do new order ...

You make it sound like you have dozens of miss behaving 3rd party apps, got a list ? :)

yeah so smartswitch kindly downloaded my hundreds of apps on the iphone to the samsung (when they were available) and although I haven't been noting down which ones have crashed, I've just been using the phone as I normally would and Ive had plenty that crash when first open then ok, then crash again later... ones where the UI is messed up, ones where they lock up.

By far the most common though has been the ones that just randomly bomb out.

Same time I've been using gmail, outlook, facebook, instagram, ms teams, whatsapp and they've been as solid as on the iphone.

So no reason for me to suspect the phone but plenty of reason for me to suspect bad coding on a lot of the 3rd party apps I use.

Perhaps it's harder to code well on android I don't know. I've only ever written iphone apps (and though they were pretty terrible because well, I wrote them LOL they didn't crash)
