But if all your looking for is his opinion on other handsets, just know he will think the iPhone is better.

And that right there is the problem I have with him. I get that he prefers Apple. But why even bother doing a comparison video or article, if you're just gonna blindly bash anything non Apple? And possibly throw out misinformation, to a person who's debating between Apple and android? And then having the sheer audacity to try and justify the bs, when even the commenters on iMore are giving him the side eye.

I get that everybody has an opinion....believe me, I do. But him throwing out blantant bs just to keep his favorite brand in a positive light is a bit much. Rene needs to just stick with Apple and not even bother talking about other phones or operating systems

If your talking about his opinion, then yes you will never agree with him, his opinion is so skewed it's funny sometimes. But when he's actually giving out information, as in facts not opinion, he does a really good job of giving a clear picture of what's going on. Sure he then takes those facts and forms a biased opinion that you may not agree with, but as an informed person you can take those facts too, learn something, and make your own opinion on the matter.

This^. Rene knows his stuff about all things Apple---it's just that's where you need to stop listening, IMO. His perspective is heavily biased towards his graphic design/art background and his devotion to all things Apple. I listen to a couple podcasts where he's either the host or guest and have just learned to tune him out when the discussion turns critical of Apple, is about anything 'not Apple' or if there are comparisons to Apple products involved. His 'reality distortion field' can get a bit tiresome though.

I guess this is where you and differ. Because at the end of the day , it is just his opinion and I may not agree with him, but at least he paints a clear picture of where he's coming from and backs it up with with actual facts and experiences. He can bash or praise whoever he wants, as long as he explains why he thinks that, im fine with it. What gets me is when people bash or praise without explaining why or by using misinformation. So while I don't agree on many things he says, I have never heard him blatantly lie and give misinformation, it's not like he doctored those photos to make the iPhone look better, he posted the actual photos and told you what he thinks of them. And you can look at those same photos and draw your own conclusion, which most have by disagreeing with him.

Why are people even putting Samsung and Apple in the same sentence when it comes to cameras. Apple doesn't even make its own camera. Samsung may need to partly use Sony sensors for supply issues, but they have their own sensor. Look up the NX1 and see what an amazing camera it is. It destroyed anything else in its class. But it didn't sell well because Samsung simply doesn't hold the same recognition in that industry as Nikon and Canon. There's a lot of brand snobbery and loyalty to break at the price point it was selling at. It runs Tizen and the reviews just kept getting better and better after every firmware update. That's why I prefer the best hardware. Software updates can always make things even better in the future. It was just at the beginning of 2014 that Samsung rolled their camera division into their mobile division. So the division that gave us the NX1, now has input on Samsung's mobile cameras. No shock to me their phone cameras are the best around.

Then ask the op why he started this thread then...

What allegiance? I rock an S6 edge plus and Z5 premium as my main phones (so know that the Z5 camera is poor relatively) . You just seem so fanatical with Samsung.

Its a given that anything positive posted on SamMobile will be posted on here within minutes by you.

I think most people here can read SamMobile on their own.

I honestly don't understand why own both iPhone and Galaxy if you're just gonna put one down all the time. Mostly all I see is Galaxy bests iPhone xxxxx posts then an obligatory well I own both so it's the best of both worlds. Why keep a 1000 iPhone?

I will put it this way.The Galaxy destroys the iPhone in hardware while the iPhone shames the Galaxy in software support. For instance my Galaxy A8 is still on Dec 2015 security patch update.Which is why owning both is the best way to experience perfection

but from what ive read of his posts he seems happy with touchwiz, he prefers it over stock android i believe. So again, I'm wondering what the incentive is for keeping a 1000 iphone if you seemingly never praise any of its traits/features and are constantly posting/starting threads about how the galaxy beats the iphone etc.

So why keep both if you really only like one based on the numerous threads/posts praising the galaxy? I see jamezr liked your post, but I still didn't see an answer. If it's software support, does that mean that you both actually like ios? Because based on past posts there's nothing he can't do on his iphone that his galaxy cannot do. He loves the hardware, is happy with touchwiz, and can do everything he wants on the galaxy, and seemingly doesn't feel compelled to be only using apple services, so it's probably a limited benefit to him for imessage, facetime, icloud, etc. So you both keep a 1000 iphone for software support?

Why is it your business what he owns? Why does that bother you? Why are you here in the Samsung thread when you don't like Samsung phones? Why do you always have something negative to say about Android and Samsung in particular?

because he can?

i have win/osx/ios/android just because i like tech not because i need them all.

i dont have iphone/ipad because i think they are the best. i would pick up the s7 at once if only i could see that googles privacy policy would be as good(?) as apples. i just dont like that apps are asking too much (android) when installing them and after updates asking even more. i think apple has done this thing better, but for sure otherwise i would buy an android before ios. lots more fun with them.

I own a Dell Latitude I love it death but I'm not going to go to a forum to praise it, I'm for sure not going to go to an Apple forum and praise it. I think Linux is superior to every OS out there but I'm not going to come here and talk about that, heck I'm not even going to talk about that on the Linux fan sites. This section is for Android talk iPhone section is for iPhone talk I don't see where this is complicated. Every thread in forums and every post on social media doesn't need to turn into a food fight, why does he need to complimentary or even comment on his iPhone in the Alternatives section?

It's really a simple question though. You love your dell that's great. Now if u own that dell and a MacBook yet you post threads about how much better your sell is vs your MacBook, I'd ask a simple question too; why keep the MacBook if the dell is what you much prefer.

Jamezr has said numerous times he has the best of both worlds. So what in the iPhone does he find the best of for that world to keep it?

He most certainly can no doubt. I'm asking why. What makes the iPhone 6s Plus attractive enough to keep even though he seemingly much prefers the Galaxy?

It is a discussion forum...so why not discuss you not having an current generation Android phone? Why don't you answer the question? If you are not interested then why all the negative comments? Why attack those that do have different phones? If you don't like Android and from all of your comments....you clearly don't like Samsung or Android...why are you here?

I have a work issued MacBook Pro too, and I do like my Latitude more than the MBP in every way but what's the point in coming into and Apple forum and saying that? What will it prove? What minds will change? This is the alternatives section what will coming in here and praising an iPhone do? What will it prove? What minds will be changed?

Coming in here and praising an iPhone will do nothing but cause food fights there are enough people in this forum that do that already. The S7 is the new hotness it's everywhere and people are singing it's praises that will end when the next new hotness hit's which I believe will be the HTC 10 pocket showed an antutu that's higher than all current phones. The cycle will then continue.

If you keep everything in it's lane you reduce nerd slap fights.

I'm not attacking anyone. Sure. I don't presently own an android phone. I don't think I'm being negative at all. Presently my iPhone is what I prefer. If I owned both the iPhone and Galaxy at the same time, I wouldn't keep both if I praised one as much as you praise the Galaxy. I'm asking a simple question, one even reviewers would either ask or answer. Since you own both what about the iPhone makes it 1/2 of the best of both worlds u say that your Galaxy doesn't provide?

I understand what you're saying. Your mbp is work issued though. It's not like you recreationally bought both. But if you did and you went to forums saying you had the best of both worlds, yet you post basically nothing but praise for your dell and how it's better for you in basically every way than the mbp, then I'd ask why keep the mbp then? What about the mbp makes you keep it even though you'd much prefer the dell?

Yup that message is loud and clear. And by the posts and threads it's evident he feels the Galaxy is superior to the 6s plus. So why keep the iPhone? What redeeming features/traits does it give him vs Galaxy to want to keep using it?

Since no-one has actually answered the question you asked, only criticised the question, I'll answer based on my own choice / preferences and reasoning.

What I really enjoy in my iPhone 6S+and why I have one (and will keep an iOS device) ...

I much prefer the consistency of experience on iOS. Generally things are more consistent and behave in a way you expect them too than the myriad of android handsets I've owned . Performance and battery life and even the camera all perform in a consistent and reliable manner. There is a never a day where my battery depletes a lot faster for no obvious reasons for example.

I love the way as a multi mac user that handoff / continuity works. That my macs and iPads and even iPod all work together. The way I can answer and send a text message from my laptop or desktop, or even my iPod touch and it will automatically route that message to my iPhone and send and receive it as an SMS. An example would be the gym. I leave my iPhone in the car, and take my iPod touch into the gym. It connects to the gyms wifi - and because of continuity / handoff - I can still receive and send text messages, I can still initiate telephone calls which are then routed to my phone. So I get ability to use my phone, on my iPod, in an exercise environment where I don't want to take my €900 phone. That's a great ability to work like this with other apple devices.

I actually really like Apple's LCD displays. I have so many 2k screens and this 'quantum' leap in quality - is something that isn't experienced by me. I discern very little difference and can not see any pixel difference between my iPhone 6S+ and my S7e, N6p, Moto X force etc.. What I do like about Apple's LCD displays and what is important for me is outdoor visibility. The iPhone 6S+ is excellent for use in sunlight. I also like the native white point and colour balance. On android I have to adjust to get similar experience - with samsung - i revert to basic mode, Nexus 6p I turn on RGB mode, Moto X + others I install screen balance and have to adjust saturation and white points.

Battery life - whilst the S7e & my moto X force give it a run for its money - the battery life is pretty stellar on my 6S+

What I really enjoy in my androids and why I will continue to use them as well ....

N6P / Moto X Force, I love stock android visually. I find there is a consistency in aesthetics and apps that I appreciate. From a performance level - the way stock android optimises in a similar manner to iOS to provide an optimised experience that doesn't rely on just raw horsepower to provide a decent user experience. The UI experience like iOS feels so much better when its consistent at delivery stutter free animations at fast frame rates.

I also love the Moto X display features and voice recognition.

Samsung - I love the physical aesthetic of the phone and screen. I find Samsung do provide some of the best and consistent camera experiences on the Android platform. The camera software is great and other than LG & Sony are the best on the platform, especially compared the barebones Moto and Google camera apps.

The trade off with Samsung for me has always been TW and its burden it puts on even the most powerful hardware. My S7e is the best Samsung phone I've had, I enjoy the myriad of technical aspects it has, but I would be lying if I said it was smooth 100% of the time, it isn't. It's not without the occasional dropped frame still in UI animations. I notice this when going into home screen management - the first time I go into home screen managment the animation clearly drops a few frames leaving a little stutter, but go into it again straight after and animation plays perfectly. It's tiny quirk that still shows that TW doesn't deliver the optimised experience Stock Android and IOS do. Likewise there are features Samsung like briefing / upday screen that can again can still cause little animation flutters or delays when they are in use. Not deal breakers - but would love Samsung to just dump them once and for all.

In general, I love on my android devices Wireless charging, and quick charging. I like the fact that I can by using third party apps create some form of uniformity by changing launcher and such.

Conclusion... So there you go - why I like having many devices. Because there are various elements I love on all of them, but not one offers me 'everything' in its current form ......

But ....
I see no point in turning EVERY thread into a VS peeing contest, which invariably happens in this sub fora which happens on both sides - but does get very tiresome. However I can understand why someone would pose the question as to why someone would keep a device, or why they like a device if they are consistently post or create threads which seem to be this device better than the other device?

As some one who owns a myriad of devices - I don't see the point in creating threads based on arbitrary opinions of other reviewers to validate my own - I just use my devices, warts and all.

That all being said - can this perpetual peeing contest that has been going on this sub fora please be put to rest for a few days. If an outsider came into this forum, all this bickering just shames us all and looks bad on all of the contributors to this sub fora.

That's a really good explanation. Thank you. You've pointed out in your usage strengths of the platforms you use. Obviously you feel some Apple services are a benefit yet there are obvious strengths to androids.

What I find interesting is that from what I've seen you're not posting about how much better your Galaxy is than your iPhone in multiple threads. I know of your past issues with tw yet I've read that jamezr is more than happy with tw. And since he feels the hardware is a step above I'm curious as to what benefit the iPhone he keeps gives him vs the Galaxy.

The trade off with Samsung for me has always been TW and its burden it puts on even the most powerful hardware. My S7e is the best Samsung phone I've had, I enjoy the myriad od technical aspects it has, but I would be lying if I said it was smooth 100% of the time, it isn't.

Wish I could like this post 100X. Well thought out, clear, and to the point. And agree so much on last bits...so much bickering and online validation seeking on both sides of the aisle. Feel I need a shovel to get through all the detritus in here sometimes.

How about simply because one likes to have variety, as I explained previously.

I have an iPhone 4S, 5S, iPad 2 and iPad Air. Selling the 4S and iPad 2 would only be a gain of chump change. And I don't want to give up my most updated iPhone or iPad. I use the 5S for my second line. Was going to get the SE to replace it, but 16gb is too little and 32gb is too expensive for a phone that's not my daily driver. I had no interest in the 6, 6S, or 6S+, cause I feel I get the same experience from the 5S.

I personally find nothing major about the lastest iPhone that I like over the lastest Galaxy devices. But I do like to tinker with Android, iOS, WP, and whatever I can get my hands on.

You are looking for a definitive explaination from jamezr, which he probably doesn't have and doesn't need to have. Some users just like to have differ experiences at any given time for no reason whatsoever besides interest.
