What are some pros & cons between the s9 and X?
The build (thanks to the stainless steel) is better on my iPhone X. I like the dual cameras, app selection and quality, all the iCloud apps and the way they integrate with my MacBook, iPad, and airpods. Love the "no bezel" look, and face id (with integration in 3rd party apps), and the gesture bar. iMessage and FaceTime.

Cons are lack of customizations, I like Android UI better, and the walled garden means some apps aren't available.

The S9, I love the customizations, I like the Android UI better, Samsung hardware features (microsd card, headphone jack), Samsung pay is much better than Apple pay, faster charging (both wireless and wired), the fingerprint sensor and gestures, and the price was much better.

Cons are software isn't quite as polished (both 3rd party and 1st), and curved screen.

Those are the difference for me, other things such as performance, screen, battery, camera, ect. are basically close enough to each other, it's a none factor.

Yup, I don't like having to constantly mess around with settings to try and get maximum battery life, just set it and leave it. Only time I try to do that is in emergencies.

I think the battery life is acceptable given that you ran Google maps with high screen on time. Obviously it could be better however Samsung phones rarely have above average battery life.

Yeah, that's basically what I said, battery life is ok. It's less than my S8 Active (which is a beast battery wise) and my Essential Phone (slightly above average) and about the same as my iPhone X.

You did not mention that the S9 (eu version with cirrus logic DAC) has a *noticeably better* audio quality via headphones than the iPhone X. I tested this personally. On iOS use VOX Player (or Onkyo HF – my second choice) for better sound quality than Apple Music App.

So I just charged it to 100% and will leave it off the charger the rest of the day.

Fernandez21 - how are you getting the white lettering with black background? That looks really nice. I would really like to change the black lettering with white background to white lettering with black background on my Galaxy S8+. Thank you.

Go into the Samsung themes store and download the theme "PixelizeD".

And for those complaining about using maps for an hour, here is another battery usage shot from today.

Mine easily does. By the time I go to bed around 11pm I'll have anywhere from 35 to 50% left. Once I take it off the charger in the morning at around 5:40 am, it won't get charged again til I hit the sack.

Please forgive me if I sound rude, but what do you people do all day in n your smartphones?

My Galaxy S8+ has been running for 68 hours since its last charge and is at 39%.

I do tweak some settings to optimize battery life. But I’m not runnng battery saver.

Now in the interest of full disclosure, I sit in front of a computer all day at work and have Verizon Fios and an iPad at home. So I have other ways to access the Internet for the vast majority of the day.

Some people, myself included don’t use iPads. Our phones, especially with them becoming larger can easily be used for movie/TV show binge watching.

I read the news on mine, play a few games, watch YouTube and a little social media daily.

Reading that you have 38% left after 68 hours is strange to me! Do you even need such a phone?

Well given his last statement, the phone is most likely on standby half the day. If you don't have AOD on, stand-by is just as good as the iPhone.

Sounds like yours is pretty much on standby most of the time. And if so, why tweak it at all? I don't tweak anything asside from having the screen brightness down halfway but I always do that and never have it on full brightness with any phone.
Typically on works days I have anywhere from 2 to 2.5 hours on screen on time. I don't sit at a computer all day

Swapped my Apple watch series 2 for a new gear s3 frontier two days ago. So far I'm very happy, I prefer the size of the watch and screen and with the s9+ they play nice together, as you'd expect.

You like the Gear over the AW?

Here is another fun S9+ raw file > lightroom edit animation. I was at a conference waiting at the uber waiting area. The sun peeked between 2 buildings... set my S9+ to raw+jpeg... and snapped a pic in pro mode focusing on sky exposure only. Wanted to pull under-exposed foreground in LightRoom later. I used a LR preset I made for a model for her Instagram page... so her pics will have the same tone throughout her feed. Other than the preset, I removed the arrow and sign on the driveway, and straighten overall picture.

Size and design is a definite yes and because I’m exclusively using the s9+ it works really well, battery life is also excellent. No complaints at all.
[doublepost=1524339973][/doublepost]Something I've noticed for the first time with a Samsung is that the touchwiz or whatever it's now called is really quick and fluid nowadays. I usually always go with Nova but tried it and found I prefer the stock launcher

Yeah, of all the Samsung devices I've had, it finally feels as though the hardware is powerful enough to run the software.

I was actually talking about Software wise and actually Samsung wasn't the first to introduce a feature rich pen in a phone, in fact back in the day I owned an LG cookie phone which had the pen with similar features to the S Pen.
LG-Cookie.jpg

Samsung makes the best OLEDS and there's nothing to counter that.
Samsung had the Omnia at the time.

In terms of Android and modern touch phones, Samsung have been the pioneer here.

That depends.

Where I am at, Samsung service is way better than Apple... the fact that apple doesn't have any store but Samsung has 2 full service centres.
Same here.

Samsung have a service where they pick up the phone from wherever you are in the country and give you a courtesy phone while yours gets repaired.

Apple service is near to known existent down here.

Where is that? Do you need Samsung care or whatever they call it for that service?

Sure but none was talking about the fact that Samsung have been the pioneer in modern Android phones, but the fact that some of their software features in this case the S Pen ones which we were discussing, were already introduced by LG at that time (2008).

Pen on resistive screen has long been introduced since win CE mobile much earlier.

I think Samsung is the one that pioneered pen on a capacitive screen
