I almost pulled the trigger on a Flip...they were going to give me $1000 for my S23U. That would make the Flip only $99...tempting. But I really love my S23U right now...
You're one of the people who got your trade in stolen in Texas like my husband did and like I did with my defective return. Does the idea of having that happen again deter you a bit? It definitely does us. That and not wanting to give up the 10x zoom on my S23 Ultra for the flip form factor. I'd still have the S22 Ultra with the s pen and zoom but I still don't want to do it.

Are those the cameras from the S23 though? IIRC, MKBHD said they are the exact same cameras as the Fold4, which predates the S23 and again, I thought I recall everyone saying they weren’t the same cameras as the S22 generation.

EDIT: So I took a closer look at the camera specs and the Fold5 seems to be exactly the same as the Fold4 which are definitely not the same as those as the S23 or even the S22 for that matter (main wide camera does appear to be same as S22 but other two are different). So again, camera appears to be at least two generations behind the main Galaxy phones.

All of the Fold phones not having flagship cameras is what’s keeping me from diving in, among other things. If I’m spending that kind of money, I better have flagship cameras.
This is one of the reasons my husband hasn't budged from his Fold 3. Edit: his fold is not the Fold 4.

Quite the GF5 backlash online.

I think people really want a wider cover screen and a
better inner camera. I’m assuming we get both with the GF6.

I personally feel the new hinge, brighter inner screen, and lower weight are huge upgrades. If the OPO ends up being lame for some reason I think I’ll get the GF5. But I’d rather get the OPO for the wider cover screen and the triple speakers. We shall see.

I’m so tempted to trade in my 14 pro max and get a flip 5
Just do it. It's not always about a single feature like the best camera, best display, best battery life, etc...I changed over to a Flip because I was tired of the slab form factor. People who buy a flip typically can buy any phone they want, and are fully aware of their options. The flip just gives you a refreshing "new" way of using your phone. Opening and closing the phone to make and take calls is just satisfying. The compact form factor is so convenient and a pleasure to have. In my opinion, Samsung's software is the best in the business for privacy (secure folder) and customization. Nobody has a sandboxed feature like secure folder. Really looking forward to what One UI 6 will bring.

And the odd thing is… Z Fold 4 received a wider cover screen from the previous generation. So, I didn’t expect Samsung to do it again consecutive years. What it all comes down to is the fact that there is competition… and the Pixel Fold has been well received by the public due to its cover display.

And the UDC should have been improved OR the selfie camera on the outer display. They didn’t touch neither of the cameras across the device… inner selife camera, outer selfie camera nor the main camera. Although, S22U and S23U were nearly identical… they at least improved on the main camera.

I’m just surprised a new hinge and the crease still looks about the same. Other brands with new hinges their crease looks far better.

I don't think Samsung cared much for the Fold this time around.

It's strongly rumored the Fold 6 will be a redesign. I hope Samsung listens to it's fan base (which they usually do), and include top notch cameras. Huawei's foldable has periscope camera. I'm hoping to see the same for the Fold 6.

Yeah fair. Plus my phone carrier is offering a free Galaxy Watch 6 Classic with the purchase.

I think the Flip 5 will sell well. The larger cover display is a massive win. The Fold 5? Not sure why anyone would buy it when they can get basically the same exact phone (minus a few details) with a Fold 4 and save a TON of cash.

A lot of people (even hardcore Samsung'ers) are upset that the 5 is almost exactly the same as the 4 except for a new processor (congrats, you can open Twitter .00004 seconds faster now) and the new hinge.

Cover display is the same, cameras are the same, battery is the same, etc, etc, etc is the same. The Fold 5 is a massive fail from Samsung.

I agree! I think Samsung attention were more toward the Flip this time around.

But this one guy had a chance to see some Fold 6 prototypes....

Thanks for the info..

I prefer Samsung OS and would buy the GF6 at launch if they fix the terrible tall and skinny cover display.. The Pixel Fold is almost perfect in that regard and while I don't expect Samsung would copy them, the GF6 needs to be wider and shorter for me to consider it.

Come on Samsung, you can do it!

I bet the ZFold 5 is going to be a flop. The Flip 5 will most likely sell in droves but man Samsung has sure rested on there laurels.

The Classic 6 looks nice though too bad it’s running wearOS.

The trade in fiasco is definatley on my mind! A friend of a friend has a Flip...and just like the Fold he has to constantly flip it open to use the phone. I think that might wear on me after a while to be honest. Just my personal thing though.

Yeah I'd flip out after a while.

Well, if that is the Fold 6, then maybe I'll have to switch back from the Pixel fold. Hopefully they make the outer display also compatible with the SPEN.
Amen ! preach on.... I mean the form factor is so important I think a lot of people don't realize it until they have a phone in hand and using it daily with front display properly...

Foldable tech never really been something that’s intrigued me enough to actually want to get one. They are expensive and I do understand it’s exciting technology but it just doesn’t really interest me. Although it’s nice to see how well it evolves over time but it is in its infancy to a degree.

I personally wouldn’t find myself getting one. 1 being cost and 2 being how scared I would be to take the thing places like the beach for example.
