Just saw the Fold5 and Flip5 in person, and all I can say is, these easily come across as two of the most premium looking and feeling phones I've seen. Even though they only had the mint and graphite on display, they had sample back plates for all 4 colors. Glad I went with cream color, wife finally decided on the mint, now that she was able to set it in person. That being said, after seeing the Watch 6 Classic, I think I'm trading in my Watch 4 Classic. This is me just blowing money for the heck of it, since I've been wearing my watches less and less lately. But dayyumm that bigger screen on both the Flip5 and Watch 6 Classic.

whats your observation on the crease especially for the fold 5

Have to decide if I should keep my order for the Fold 5 or cancel it. Mostly being held back by things like Digital Car Key seeming to take ages to get support when a new Android phone is launched and I use that exclusively. As well as Samsung having what seems to be very poor customer service in case the phone breaks, I really can’t be without the phone for weeks if it were to break and for people over here it seems they need multiple repairs each one taking a month.
Don’t know if you live in America or not. I plan on getting the OPO or GF5 at Best Buy. This way you can avoid needing to contact the OEM and you can get your device serviced in a store.

Edit: Looks like you can get your phone serviced at Best Buy if you have Samsung Care. I’d still prefer to purchase at Best Buy so I don’t have to have my expensive device mailed to me.

Nope, live in Sweden and Samsung seems to have outsourced their repair here and it isn’t a great experience it seems.

There are devices more expensive than the OPO & GF5 shipped daily. And if something ever happened to it… fault is with the shipper, not you.

Grabbed the 47mm Watch 6 Classic for $379 CAD, but then they offered the Buds2 Pro for $99, so picked up another pair of the Buds, even though I already grabbed a pair with the Flip5. I've always preferred to have a few extra Buds around, especially if it's on a deal.

Foldables — book-style, flip-style, or both — may well become a thing, but they are not yet a thing, because the technology isn’t there yet to make them compelling. (Including simply making them dust resistant.)
Gruber agrees somewhat in the idea of a foldable, but doesn’t believe Apple should create one now.

I think what Samsung and other OEMs are doing in the foldable space is beneficial… because they are pushing the foldable market forward. I like what Apple has done with the Vision Pro, but personally… I’d be more interested in buying a foldable Apple device than a headset.

Yeah I kind of think the headset is pointless. I had bought a VR for the family 2 years ago thinking it was going to be something we do on family game night. But it ended up collecting dust. And for the people that do adopt it, way to just make our public even more detached from reality.

fold 5 held up pretty damn well with the big boys.

Flip 5 just beat the pixel 7 pro with a 3700 battery compared to 5000. As we know tensor is well behind on battery efficiency

Android Authority actually made a great case for picking up a Z Fold 4 right now instead of getting the Fold 5.

I understand all that. I still prefer going to a store and walking out with said device in hand.

Certainly, if someone can find a good deal on a used Z Fold 4… that would be the best situation. Nowadays, changes from each generation are minor… companies tend to address only a few points of interests.

But it’s up to the customers to decide if those areas they improved upon are worth It. I think changes with the S-Pen could be worth it for those who want a smaller case for their Z Fold. I was hoping the new S-Pen is compatible with the Fold 3 & 4, but supposedly its not.

Is anyone struggling to get a definitive answer on delivery dates here in the UK?
Samsung, EE, Vodafone all show 4th August as delivery from date but then mention 11th August as the launch date..

Samsung chat said it's launching on the 11th but delivery from the 4th 😵

Looking to jump ship from my 13 Pro Max and finally join the fold :)

I find that aspect ratio interesting though with the amount of more information displayed on the Fold whereas the Pixel just looks like it's trying to fill the page instead?

The Fold 5 has more real estate for the inner display no matter which orientation you hold it. Plus the it has minimal bezels.

As nice of a size as the cover on the Pixel display is (and it looks very one hand friendly), the inner display takes priority in my judgement for foldables.

I hope Samsung doesn't decrease the size of the inner display in order to implement a more useable cover display.

I get what you mean but I don’t think this vision pro will be like any other headset we have seen. I firmly believe Apple seen this as the future of tech and given how much money they have spent on it value this above any future foldable. Granted the cost is too big for most right now but cheaper vision when it comes could change the game for those average customers. It’s why I think if we get a foldable from Apple it will be in the rumoured notebook form as rumoured by 20 inches. I do think Apple see vision pro as a far more useful everyday product than a foldable imo

I really don’t get that, I really don’t think Apple expects the vision pro to replace phones anytime soon with it’s 2 hour battery life and big headset. That is probably far far into the future when technology is way better and until then phone will exist and since the folding market is growing fast and already worth quite a bit I am sure Apple wants a piece of that.
