But do not be mistaken — it is still not perfect. It is still below the bar put forth by devices like the Pixel XL, and its biggest weak points remain precisely in those areas of the phone where Samsung is most involved, namely the system UI and some stock applications. It’s also nowhere near as snappy as the OnePlus 5, which combines an aggressive approach to performance with zippy animations to deliver an extremely responsive UX. It’s much harder for us to accurately measure the time it takes for actions within applications to be carried out, but I am confident that the OnePlus 5 would be a clear winner in this area.

I have a 250GB sdcard.
I like that I store all my photos and vids on it, if the phone becomes irreparable, out goes the SD and into the next one. I don't care about anything apart from photos and videos, everything thing else can be replaced.
I can't ever see me filling the card though...

I'm used to my Note now, the shininess has worn off and it's just my phone, until the Note 9 :)

Bottom line: iPhones don't run as smooth and lag free as the faithful would like to make everyone believe. What good are updates when you gotta wait for another update to fix what the first update messed up?The sooner you accept this fact, the sooner you can stop making excuses for Apple.

As a first time iPhone user this is nothing but the truth. While I wasn't expecting perfection, as an Android user all I kept hearing was how smooth the iPhone was, how apps run better, how I'll never go back to Android. The iPhone is smooth (especially fresh OTB) but once you start loading it up with apps and getting it to work with other gadgets that's where the problems start. But I will say what has impressed me with the iPhone (until iOS11 update) was the battery life. I could easily go two days on one charge.

I didn't realize how much I'd miss so many of the Android features. The simplified notifications, setting up gestures to open apps, having the assistant understand me.

Something as simple as adding my one favorite ringtone took me two hours.

I wish USPS or UPS had something like this. All I get is "Out for Delivery"

Right? The ringtone part with using iTunes and an app is really frustrating. It takes way more effort than I'd like to be honest. IOS 11 has been quite problematic on my battery and with some app crashing, it's been a headache. Add in that iOS 11, even the new beta, has made my signal and data speeds worse. Which is bad because it wasn't even that great in iOS 10 to begin with.

I'm ready to go back to Android, I'm just stuck between deciding which.

Edit: Getting my watch to update has been a nightmare since day one. It's a finicky thing, that. That new control center with the ability to disconnect but not disable drives me bonkers.

Here I thought I was going crazy, when I was sending a photo yesterday. My signal has been jumping but I didn't tie it in with iOS. My battery went from ending the night at about 70% to now ending it around 40% and my usage has not changed at all. I play graphics intensive games on my iPad so yeah, that's how I knew something was up with iOS11.

When I tell you I almost returned the phone because I couldn't install my fav ringtone that I've only had for YEARS. I was PO'd. Now I understand why everyone's ringtone sound like some robotic T-Mobile BS.

I used my phone for an hour this morning for web browsing and it went from 89 % to 38%.

I’m fed up of the new control Center. It seems to have a mind of its own. I do not have auto brightness turned on but it keeps changing the brightness, sometimes putting itself into airplane mode or switching off the WiFi.

Is this iOS 11 on a 7 Plus or an 8? If the latter, I'd exchange that pronto. If the former...WHOOPS!

Wow, have you tried resetting the phone, that is ridiculous. I've noticed that my brightness jumps even though I don't have it set for auto brightness. Hopefully, there's an update coming soon.

How much did the memory card cost you?

Also how do you set it so when you download things it goes to the memory card and not the phone? Or is it automatic?

I think when you first put in a memory card, it selects the card as new default for the camera. But you can change in the options which is the default for storage.

£69

Some things are automatic like the camera. Others you have to go into the app settings and change it do download to the SD card. I have Netflix and google play music set to download to the SD card. My comics are all downloaded to the SD card.

I’m now back in Note 8 land and I’m extremely glad to be back.

iPhone 7+ and Apple Watch are being advertised this weekend. iOS 11 has been awful in my experience. My phone has been stuttering all over the place whereas 10.3.3 was excellent.
That is what convinced me to return to the note as I originally couldn’t decide which device to
Choose.

I’m sure you’re both quite familiar with iOS but as a precaution, are you aware the auto brightness has moved from Display and Brightness to Accessibility? I wasn’t until until someone brought it up here—thought maybe you were in the same situation as me and weren’t aware it was actually on.

I was having dramatically worse battery life on my 7 Plus after updating to 11.0 but 11.01 seems to have fixed whatever my issue was as my battery performance has rebounded. Hope it can be sorted out for you both

I’m so torn between my iPhone 7 Plus, Link Space black Apple Watch and my S8 and Note 8.

I would sell the Apple Watch and S8 if I decided to keep the Note. I love ge functionally but something is keeping me pulled towards the iPhone. I haven’t worn the Apple Watch recently and gone back to my Omega.

I don’t know why I can’t bring myself to fully switch. The 10 is too small but I like the design and always wanted a S6+ with iOS.

How’s everyone’s screen fairing up? My S8 has terrible scratches and it hasn’t touched anything. You can’t see it when the screen on but when it’s off and the light catches it, it looks terrible! I’m wondering if the Note 8 screen is the same? I don’t fancy a screen protector.

Thanks.

Note 8 matches iPhone 8 Plus by score but has faster autofocus, better low light, clearer stereo sound, comprehensive OIS, post selectable bokeh, more natural colors, etc.

https://www.dxomark.com/samsung-galaxy-note-8-best-smartphone-zoom/

Apple paid them well to delay the Note 8 review then scoring it no higher.

Yeah, that's gonna pay off too cause just the other day I overheard some folks saying if the Note's DXO score was equal to iPhone's, they weren't gonna touch the X.

Came here to post about the DXO score for the Note 8, but see it's already been posted.

Kudos to Samsung and Apple. Leading class cameras.

And happy to see more saturation is becoming a norm across the main players. For the longest time, I've argued that Samsung photos resulted in more "pop." Now Pixel and even the iPhone have added more saturation to their photos.

But doesn't the X have the same quality camera as the 8 and 8+?

Purely joking, dude. I just thought the comment that Apple paid DXO to delay their Note review was funny.

I try to figure out which takes better pics and it varies pic to pic. I think...THINK overall the iPhone's low light shots might be a hair better but...good luck trying to make the argument. It's a nice problem to have at the moment.
