Dude! It's insanity!

When a feature sort of works on an iPhone we have to get used to it even though it's a backward move to the feature it replaces, but if this was a Samsung we'd be reading endless complaints and how it's not a match for the iPhone, and they Could've , Would've and Should've this and that. Haha!

The people who were talking up FaceID right in this forum have also gone dead quiet now. Lol there is even a thread in the iPhone forum about FaceID unlocking with people's siblings (not just twin's!) You need to see the excuses in there, OMG

Look at this, pretty sure Iris Scanning wouldn't make such a stupid mistake
https://forums.macrumors.com/index.php?threads/2084056/

This is amongst countless threads of FaceID not working while in bed or when sideways etc etc...

But I guess they'll all just have to get used to it
No despite the fact that face ID has failed and been duped they are claiming that the videos are rigged or that the brothers look identical and then bashing Samsung in the same breath.

The funny thing is the fingerprint scanner is faster and more accurate again and you (maybe not you but me certainly) can have the phone unlocked before you're able to look at a phone to unlock it, pretty much unlocked in the pocket on a good day.
Pleeease Samsung, keep the fingerprint scanner, it's by far the best method to unlock.
Well, for me anyway....

iPhone X? Looks cool but that notch is butt ugly and the bezels, not exactly edge to edge imo.
Good to see Apple stepping away from 2014 though.

You might be right on that one. Never listened much to NPR, despite people around here saying they lean liberal like me.
I listen to the NYC NPR station and I feel they are pretty balanced. They have a lot of local and state content though, so may not be the best choice for national and international news.

What are the problems with the X?
The ones I've read about on here are:
- siblings that aren't twins unlocking FaceID
- blue color shift at minor angle
- Apple already warning about burn in being normal
- the notch
- general issues with FaceID workflow
- general issues with home button alternative workflow
- it's not that much different to justify the price

I can have my phones unlocked most of the time before I bring them up to my face. I can find the FPS while they are in my pocket....

I hope Sammy keeps the FPS for the S9 next year

My worry is they won't change location until under glass is reasonable.

And another speed test really proving how much the Note 8 is a true performer. Can't wait to see further optimization of Samsung Experience v9.0 with Oreo. And then whatever version is on the S9 and Note 9.

This is the one I've been waiting for. Haven't noticed any real differences in real world use, though I hardly use the Note 8. I guess this why it's always smarter to wait on a gen 2 from Apple, next year's X Will probably get the ram upgrade this year's needed to stay ahead.

Wow! The Note8 has done a great job at simply obliterating the iPhones :)

Indeed it can only get better now :D

"Simply obliterating" sounds a bit of a stretch.

I didn't even watch the video and agree that "obliterating" is beyond a stretch. On nearly every measure, the top iPhones, Pixels, Galaxies, etc.. all are very close on speed, battery life, camera, display, etc.. People need to really stop using these over inflated words for things that are a rounding error apart. Pick the phone and experience that works best for you. It would be great if we could have more conversations about functional and experiencial differences instead of nonsense.

Samsung continues to be the top smartphone maker in the world by a huge margin.

Some people feel the need to belittle (for want of a better word) devices they don't own. I actually took delivery of an iPhone X today. Not sure which thread I should post my honest opinion in.

Incredible, yet people were here not long ago claiming FaceID was years ahead of anything else, yet it's not even a patch on Iris Scanning

Samsung really need to make this clear and I hope they stay clear of all this Face Recognition crap, unless they can get Face Unlock and Iris Scanning to work together to give an even more Secure version on Facial Recognition.

There needs to be a law put in place about companies making bogus claims such as the ones Apple made about FaceID as clearly it isn't as good as they claimed neither in speed or security.

Not only is Face ID slower but also security is rather poor and it's more restrictive as far as things obstructing your face when compared to iris scanning.

Very poor security allowing access to a completely different person

Restrictive with winter face cover, having to remove helmet, wet hair from showering/swimming, etc. (forward to 3:40)

Nope! But what I will say, is I'm keeping my Note over the X. Just the Pixel left to try now.

I don't care for the X either. The sad thing about it is that Apple buyers will be stuck with that design most likely for 4+ years, given how long they've stuck with the 6 and 6+ design.

Biggest reason was how much more enjoyable internet browsing is on the Note.
