Finally received my note 8 and it’s a great device and I like it.
It is a tad bit big, and there are so many customization options. I’m missing my iPhone only due to ease of use...

With that I retire from the Note 8 side of things. It's off for sale soon. Best of luck to Note owners with future updates. Hope you guys get plenty of them and enjoy your devices. I didn't have the patience, that's why I am giving up the features I originally sought.

I am also retiring from this side of the board as well. All the best everyone. Nice chatting with everyone. Appreciate the good back and forth plus informative posts. Take care.

A new guy to this form. I am seriously considering a Note 8. New or used, not really sure. Is a new phone with the warranty worth the money? I am not worried about breaking the screen. Question number two. Ebay has Note 8's that can use duel SIM cards, sold in a sealed box. No warranty. Supposedly a better chip. Opinions?
All opinions are welcome. Thanks, Dave

Those are international models. Just know in the states, WiFi calling and Samsung Pay may not work. It's best to check on compatibility with everything.

I am guessing those dual SIM Note8s are using the Exynos chip, so I'd say yes, go for it. Exynos Samsungs are always better than Snapdragon.

Personally, I'd never buy a phone without warranty. Unless you have lots of money and really don't care if something goes wrong.

Does anyone with a Note use the Google wallpaper app? I have a wallpaper on the Pixel that I want on my Note. But every single wallpaper in the app just crashes it.

I'm thinking of buying this phone after been with the iPhone for 10 years now. I have a iPhone 7 Plus and I'm quite disappoint with its problems (crashing, no sound on calls, etc etc). For those who have done the same, which were your main diffiulties? my main concern is the imessage groups which I'll lose. Also, is it possible to send SMS from my macbook?

I went from the 7+ to the Note and in all honesty, had no difficulties at all. I was surprised how easy I found the transition. Not everyone will find it as easy but if you just give it a go, you'll find it's a great phone.

Not sure about SMS and a Mac. I've seen people talk about Push Bullet but not sure if that applies to a Mac.

Im in the same boat as you. I just moved to Android for the 1st time since being an iphone user from its beginning. Picked up the Note last week. At first it was a little difficult figuring things out. But once I transferred all my items. Im finding that the note is a more productive phone. I feel in much more control of all my data - pics, calendar, etc.

Probably the most problematic issue im having is just dealing with my family who all have iphones hating that i went to the upside down. Lol. Im not falling into pressure into staying into a system that Im losing interest in - I still love ios and its simplicities. But I totally hate the way Apple slow plays upgrades and design changes every year. iOS has also had the same UI since forever. I had the iphone 6 Plus since it came out and waited a long time to upgrade only to be disappointed with the X. Just didnt like the size of it and only other options was to jump back on the 8 which has had the same design since my 6.

Figured this was the perfect time for me to jump ship and try out Android. So far im loving the experience. Im even more happier that i dont feel tied down to any one system. If Apple comes out with a bigger phone that meets my needs in the next 2-3 years maybe i'll come back (cause lets face it, thats about the time youll be waiting for "something new"....just ask the Mac Mini folks theyve been waiting longer).

Just make sure you turn off iMessage on all your Apple devices before you move your sim card to the Note. Deregister your number from iMessage on iPads, Macs, etc and then turn off iMessage on your 7+. Then go to the website Apple has and deregister your phone number from iMessage at that site too. These steps will make your transition a lot easier and hopefully not get your phone number stuck to iMessage while your on the Note.

BTW, the Note 8 is a fantastic phone. I had the 7+ too and didn't have any issues but I came back to Android full time when I went to the S8 and then Note 8. You'll enjoy it!

Finally got the T-mobile update. Besides the Oct security, I've also noticed new toggles from third party apps.

Must say, i am loving ludicrously smooth my Note8 is. I just booted up my Note 4 and also using my iPad Air 2 next to my Note8, and it's dawned on me how incredible this phones performance is, despite all the junk and endless media I have loaded up into it, not to mention constantly having Instagram, Snapchat, FB, Twitter, Skype, LinkedIn, Exchange Email, multiple GMail accounts, Google AdWords Google Analytics, Samsung Internet etc etc etc... All going all the time.

Note 8 is a great device and does a ton of things well. I miss the simplicity of my iphone though... and the fact I already have the watch on hand.

The watch is an issue for me as well. I have an Android Wear watch as well (the original Huawei Watch, updated to Android Wear 2.0), and even my series 0 Apple Watch is so much better experience that it's not even funny anymore. Wish I could pair my Apple Watch with my S8+.

Yeah. I almost want to go back to the 8+ just for the Apple Watch.

Well there's a possibility that I'll swap my main SIM back into my iPhone 7 now that Apple Pay is available also in Finland. I'd still keep the S8+ around as well, especially for the camera.

I have a Note8 and a Pixel 2XL. Android Wear is great software with bad hardware. And Tizen isn't as good of an OS when compared to watchOS or Android Wear.

Maybe so, but I like the Gear S3 Frontier over Apple Watch. I like the look better. I like the UI and interface better. And much prefer it for gym use and payments. I used an Apple Watch 0 for two years and really liked it, but the Gear so much better.

nope, you can't send SMS w/o your iPhone (you can still imessage other apple users though). I am also thinking about switching and that feature is handy. You'll need to move to 3rd party apps to get SMS to your macbook.

I am also considering buying it from eBay... I am with AT&T so it is GSM network (?) so do you think it'll be compatible with international models? I thought only people on Sprint / Verizon have issues because of CDMA networks... Why Samsung Pay won't work?
