I am also considering buying it from eBay... I am with AT&T so it is GSM network (?) so do you think it'll be compatible with international models? I thought only people on Sprint / Verizon have issues because of CDMA networks... Why Samsung Pay won't work?

I think it depends on the phone's FW region code, not the radio bands. I would check XDA site for details.

Also, I don't think the Exynos has FM radio, but I doubt you care about that.

Tried to do a search and couldn't find anything, so forgive me if this has been answered before.

For the Note 8 owners of a few months -- have you noticed any slowdowns? With that answer, I wanted to ask in addition -- have you installed any custom launchers, themes, etc., or are you running the phone as it was out-of-the-box? Thanks. :)

I don't know what this means? No I don't care about FM radio but I do care a lot about WIFI calling and Samsung Pay

No slow downs yet. It's been stable and fast. Bixby ocasionally has a buggy corkiness to it, but other than that the Note 8 is Samsung's most solid device so far.

Using stock, no theme, only differ icons from the Galaxy store.

Wifi calling has to do with the carrier. So I'm not sure if the carrier will enable it on a non carrier firmware/software. I think Samsung pay will only work if you get a phone from a place where Samsung Pay is implemented. If you get a phone that's meant for a region where Samsung pay is not available, you might need to flash firmware that's meant for a region where it is available, in order to use it in the USA.

I see. I think that's just too many hoops to jump through to get the Pink version for me. I think I also read that it might not get full LTE speeds because it cannot read all the bands, also no warranty. Ugh, I wish they offer the all the color choices to USA customers.

Maybe so, but I like the Gear S3 Frontier over Apple Watch. I like the look better. I like the UI and interface better. And much prefer it for gym use and payments. I used an Apple Watch 0 for two years and really liked it, but the Gear so much better.

For me, the Gear S3 is easily the nicest looking smartwach. It also has the smoothest running software with one of the most intuitive user experience going today. The rotating bezel is such a killer and satisfying feature when navigating the UI, or scrolling through an email/message. And now I just got the Tizen 3.0 update. So far no bugs to report, and running smooth at ever. Here are the changes :

No slowdowns here.

All I have done is change wallpapers and apply all the widgets I need on the Homescreen, no 3rd party launchers or app killers.

Nope no slowdowns yet. My first Android device and I really like it.

I use stock browser and have downloaded themes from Samsung and Google Play. I like the fact I can customize as much or as little as I want and I can choose default apps. Honestly I haven't done a ton of customizing bc it works/looks really nice as is. Textra and WhatsApp for messaging. I don't spend much time on Facebook.

No complaints here.

I've not seen any slow downs at all. Love the Note 8! I am running the Microsoft Launcher which I quite like.

Thanks so much for the replies. Terrific news. The Note 8 is darn-near the nicest looking smartphone this year imho.

Good looking phone for sure. Works solidly as well. If stay with the note 8 I'll get a gear watch as well possibly the sport.
Part of me actually wants to go back to Apple just due to ease of use and familiarity. Plus I already have an Apple watch ready to use. I like the front touch ID and the phones size and I actually prefer the design. Next year I (with annual upgrade) I could decide to possibly move to a newer iphone or different device.
Found some music apps and things I was looking for in the Apple store, and I just miss the ease of use.

If I give up the note I'm sure I'll miss the pen maybe not much, I'll miss the customization and like 1 or 2 other features Apple doesn't have....
Tomorrow is the final day for the decision....

Its funny you mentioned familiarity. That does go away pretty quickly. After using iPhones since the 3G, I've been on the Note 8 for a couple of months. My wife handed me her iPhone a couple days ago and asked me to do something fairly simple and it took me about 5 minutes to figure it out. I literally couldn't remember how to get the screen to turn on AirPlay. This is why the "I tried it for a few days and going back" is not really a try. You need to give it a month or so. The only other time I tried Android was the Galaxy S5, and I gave it 6 months and hated it the whole time. This time around I loved it from day one, and after several months I have no plans to go back.

I personally like both just this was a poor year for apple for me due to the x' size. I like big screens and that is way to small for me with all the wasted space.

Settings menu are better on the note though apples are dire. Also the app switcher button just makes switching apps so much better double tap to switch between most recent 2. It used to get on my nerves on apple switching between apps. The spen i would really miss now after having it also. I use it daily i am a guitarist so for me just jotting down new chord combinations and ideas i come up with is really handy. Plus gifs croping images drawing on photos translate I use also.

But If you like basic just go iphone.

I think I'm going to give in and keep the phone. I do miss my Apple iPhone a lot currently. Miss the notifications of the watch but and the Apple watch didn't really do anything wrong just the design and size wasn't really for me. This note is a bit tricky and seems to be big, but hey let's try something new I guess....
Also this ordeal was $$$

I agree basic sometimes is the way to go.
[doublepost=1511397278][/doublepost]I wasn't really a fan of the x, and considered going with the 8 Plus and possibly doing another upgrade on the yearly upgrade plan but I'm hoping I truly enjoy the note as time goes...

How long have you had your new Note 8?

Nice! Good luck with yournew iphone X. I bought the X too. But returned it yesterday after 13 days. For me it just didn't have enough to get me to give up my Note 8 or 8 plus. I felt I was giving up too much to keep it in the line up.

Note 8 is an amazing device. I actually got the iPhone X as my work phone. Overall I prefer iOS but it was definitely tough to part with it.

Same debate I’m going through. It’s painful giving up Apple even though I like this note 8. I doubt I’d use all the features either.

I know you also sent your Pixel back. Just wondering which camera you preferred out it that and the Note?

I love the Note 8 more every day. I'm learning more and more features on a daily basis. The pros and cons list, for me, just keeps getting more and more lopsided. But if you like iOS better than nothing wrong with switching back.

Runour has it that Samsung has abandoned having touch id under the screen for the S9, which will probably mean the same for the Note 9. Found out about this from Zone of Tech on youtube. Instead Samsung will focus its energies and investment on improving its Face id system. However they will still retain touch ID on the back only this time it will be in the middle and further down. A render for the S9 also showed a dual camera lens but in the vertical position, ala iphone X.
