Not sure yet, damn you android! :)

I am probably going to keep them as I do not see anything in the near future I rather have. The iPhone X is out, too my compromises on my end for my usage.

I'd keep both but for me, it's not really practical. It's bad enough when I'm away and switching between a phone and DSLR taking pics, having a second phone would be a nightmare!

What prompted you to switch from iOS?
Several things. I had already stopped using my Mac and moved to a Surface Pro. Microsoft is building some nice capability with Android. My 6s+ was 2 years old so looking for an update. I watched the Apple keynote and totally did not like the X, and the 8+ would have been a bit boring. I also have wire attached Bose over ear and earbud headsets, so didn't want to lose my headphone jack. The Note was attractive because I can now use a pen in OneNote on both my devices. I got a discount with AT&T, so didn't have much to lose to try it. After just a few days I was hooked.

Gun to head I would keep the Pixel. Besides, we all know those phones get the fastest security and software updates.

Yeah the note is an amazing device. Just missig my iPhone it seems I've been on the fence I'm am veering on switching and going to the 8 plus and just keeping my Apple watch. Although I like the Gear Sport looks better the iPhone is cheaper and easier for me to acclimate too.

Got a Huawei Mate10 Pro on review, and I have to say guys, we take these Samsung Displays for granted, especially the Quality and Size of the Note8 display. Each time I comeback to my Note8 I am just blown away at just how damn near perfect in Size and Quality this display is.

I am thoroughly enjoying the Mate10 Pro, but overall, using it side-by-side with the Note8, I can see which company has been in this game longer. Little details that Samsung have paid very close attention to are becoming more apparent as I use the Mate10. From the Navigation keys not being transparent and seemingly taking more area from the Display, I now understand why Samsung did a 18.5:9 instead of just 18:9, there extra length accommodates those buttons and the fact that they go transparent and also can be set to automatically disappear makes a lot of difference.

So many areas I am seeing why Samsung made certain decisions over and above other OEMs.

This review period is making me more aware of my preferences in a phone.

OH one more thing guys, the 3.5mm jack, the Mate10 Pro much like the iPhones and Pixels does not have it, and guess what?

Yesterday at work my BT headphones began running low on battery, now I always have my wired headphones in my laptop bag just in case, but I had forgotten the Mate10 doesn't have a jack but it comes with that damn dongle in the box, that I had mistakenly left at home, lol, so guess what? Had to take my Note8 out to listen to music for the rest of the work day

One a side note, the Stereo loudspeaker system in the Mate10 Pro is brilliant splitting bass to loudspeaker at the bottom and treble to earpiece, Samsung NEEEDS to implement this in next year's models, it is sheer brilliance!

Turned up to full volume, I wasn't impressed with the sound quality. In comparison, the Pixel sounds much better.

I was playing with a relative's galaxy s8 but I can't help but notice the ads on the phone app. That was very bothersome. Also to get visual voicemail, you have to pay additional- maybe that is a carrier thing. I am just wondering if that bothers any android users? I like the fact ios does not come with ads on their default apps. How do y'all not have ads displaying on the phone?

That sounds like a carrier thing, as I can't spot any ads in the phone app of my S8+. I can't understand how Samsung allows carriers to tarnish their brand with stunts like that.

With no stand alone retail presence like Apple, they’d be at a huge disadvantage without the carrier retail space and promotion, at least here in the US. They’re still largely at the mercy of the carriers, else both the iPhone AND their Android competitors would be out front and center at the shops where most customers buy their phones.

So my relative have Sprint as their carrier. I actually have AT&T. If I get the note 8- do you think I won’t get ads? The ads were on the bottom of the phone app which seems built into the app.

Yes. Works with s8 and iPhone 8, so will work with the Note. Pretty sure wireless chargers don't do fast charging though.
Samsung do fast wireless charging.

Thanks. It’s a shame it’s not in black. However for the £30 difference I’ll go with the white.

I’ve cancelled my iPhone X order. I just can’t bring myself to get it. There are too many compromises. I need to just use my note more.

That's either an app or carrier .

Next time an ad pops up, long press it and android will tell you the info about the notification, which you can then resolve by uninstalling or removing permissions

I am starting to see this Android phone can be as silly as iOS. With the weird profile sharing thing from the Samsung account and all these extra things from Google...

What extra things?

And what is wrong with profile sharing? Just turn it off of you dont like it?

All of the extra Google services like hangouts, YouTube and such...
The profile sharing you can't turn off. It' not The biggest deal though. I kind of miss apples simplicity.

Ah. You are a technophobe.

Go into contacts. Select yourself.
You will see an option under your name and photo for profile sharing. Turn it off.

As for youtube or hangouts, simply disable them in /apps.

Top tip for tech: read the instructions before you use a device. You are not a wizard so don't have the abillity to know everything. Smartphones are not alien tech so they are unaware you are not a wizard.

Best way to learn about the phone is:
A) Youtube. (Its a video site)
B) Go through the settings and sub settings menu of the phone. This is also a good idea for any new apps you might have downloaded.

Best of luck!
