I will say this as well, the Note 8 is an amazing device.
It is just so feature packed and so customizable and I use none of it....
No AOD, barely write with the s pen...
[doublepost=1522237579][/doublepost]So many settings for days, this phone can do almost everything and I am wondering how a person can even get use to it. Take a look at seperate sound, thought it was pretty unique but really no use for me personally.

I had a couple of random restarts but once I cleared my cache and updated all apps, no problems.

The only issue I had was that the Samsung messaging app didn't initially connect with my contacts for some reason. I was getting just phone numbers. This might have been a coincidence as I'd been using Facebook Messenger as default and just switched back the same day I did the upgrade. I didn't do anything to try and fix it and when I woke up this morning it was working correctly, so may have been a cache issue or something. Otherwise all looks good.

The Picture in Picture thing is really cool. I was using Google Maps last night and when I went to another app, it left the navigation window in a PiP... nice!

I've not been able to figure out the notification channels... can't find any settings and don't see anywhere to set that up. If anyone has figured it out, do tell. Otherwise, I'm not seeing any big changes, just a few subtle things here and there.

I am waiting for the update as it has not hit yet for me....
The PIP i would like to see as I was waiting for that feature, but isnt that like multi window view when you re size it? Could you be confusing it for that?

How does the notification channel work?

No, PiP keeps a small number of apps open in a window when you minimize the app. Google Maps is what I was using, and when I hit Home, Maps was reduced to small movable square that persists with anything else on these on the screen. Unfortunately, it only supports a handful of apps. Oddly, YouTube is not one of them unless you get Red.

Anyway to post a screen shot?
[doublepost=1522269032][/doublepost]Picked up a gear s3 to try with my Note 8.
Beast of a watch which I like, but typical android fashion, so many settings!

I love my Gear S3 and I had 2nd generation 38mm Apple Watch. S3 was free from ATT when I purchased my Note 8. Thought it would be too large for my narrow wrists but I quickly got used to it; my ladies Rolex Datejust seems absurdly small now when I occasionally wear it. I like S3's round face, rotating bezel control, LTE calls, 2-day battery life, and durability. I wear mine constantly and it has held up so well while my Apple watch was a scratched-up mess. I was so careful with the Apple watch but it was not durable in my experience. I do wish there were as many watchband options as there are for Apple. I'm looking forward to S4: new profile (hopefully smaller/thinner) and capabilities.

Haven't read much on the S4?
Do you have a link? They have a release time frame listed yet? 4th qtr 2018?

I think Fall 2018. I was referring to changes I'm hoping to see for S4, not anything definitive I've read. I'm just guessing it will be smaller/thinner and hoping for even better battery life. I often wonder if there are very many others like me who have been so Apple-centric for years but want to try something new bc of Apple's current pricing, feature, and development strategies and the walled garden approach? Maybe so, maybe not. I know I have been very pleasantly surprised with Samsung. I would be open to Pixel as well if and when they offer cutting edge hardware.

I got my strap from AliExpress, so far so good.
There seems to be plenty to choose from to.
My Frontier gets a hiding and has a few marks but no glass scratches yet thankfully.
I basically treat it like a remote screen protector for my Note at work :D

Oreo has just landed on my O2 UK Note8 - installed painlessly and I'm now investigating the new features. It also includes the March security updates so I'm eventually up to date (to be fair, Samsung have been pretty good with the security updates even if they were slow to get Oreo out of the door)

Make sure you go to the wireless carrier (meet the guy/gal there to verify it's not stolen) and you should be good. But honestly, I see them cheaper on swappa. I thought you wanted new?
[doublepost=1522365611][/doublepost]I got the Note 8 Oreo update on my AT&T one, and it made it smoother and faster! I love it now even more!

Oreo finally rolled out to TMobile. No difference so far besides breaking the Uber app on the morning I needed to get a 6am flight

I upgraded my T-Mobile Note 8 which T-Mobile unlocked for me on February 1. I have since left T-Mobile and now have AT&T.

With Oreo and my AT&T sim, the T-Mobile Note 8 now starts up with my carriers logo instead of T-Mobile. The T-Mobile logo will come back if I install a T-Mobile sim. The phone now acts like a factory unlocked model and will show apps/features that are specific to whatever carrier you are using with your carrier unlocked phone now. It also installed all the carrier apps such as DirecTV and the AT&T account app.

WiFi calling now works using my AT&T sim but visual voicemail doesn't. Video calling also now works.

I also like how app badge notifications get cleared when I clear the notification itself.

Seems like there's lots of changes depending upon how you use the phone and not all changes will be apparent to everyone like my changes above relating to my carrier.

Is there anyway to disable having the status bar being able to be dragged down while the phone is locked on the Note 8?

Got my free Samsung Clear View Standing Cover yesterday. Really looks great on the Note8, people think I am using some super expensive luxury phone like a Vertu when they see this on my desk at work

This case mixed with the Note8s large size, really sticks out, a little too much for my liking actually

Works particularly well for when I am watching videos on my phone.
