Nice. Guess it's time to fire it back up again.FYI Oreo update has been released for ATT Note 8. I just downloaded and installed and am now checking out.
I had a couple of random restarts but once I cleared my cache and updated all apps, no problems.
The only issue I had was that the Samsung messaging app didn't initially connect with my contacts for some reason. I was getting just phone numbers. This might have been a coincidence as I'd been using Facebook Messenger as default and just switched back the same day I did the upgrade. I didn't do anything to try and fix it and when I woke up this morning it was working correctly, so may have been a cache issue or something. Otherwise all looks good.
The Picture in Picture thing is really cool. I was using Google Maps last night and when I went to another app, it left the navigation window in a PiP... nice!
I've not been able to figure out the notification channels... can't find any settings and don't see anywhere to set that up. If anyone has figured it out, do tell. Otherwise, I'm not seeing any big changes, just a few subtle things here and there.
I am waiting for the update as it has not hit yet for me....
The PIP i would like to see as I was waiting for that feature, but isnt that like multi window view when you re size it? Could you be confusing it for that?
How does the notification channel work?
No, PiP keeps a small number of apps open in a window when you minimize the app. Google Maps is what I was using, and when I hit Home, Maps was reduced to small movable square that persists with anything else on these on the screen. Unfortunately, it only supports a handful of apps. Oddly, YouTube is not one of them unless you get Red.
I love my Gear S3 and I had 2nd generation 38mm Apple Watch. S3 was free from ATT when I purchased my Note 8. Thought it would be too large for my narrow wrists but I quickly got used to it; my ladies Rolex Datejust seems absurdly small now when I occasionally wear it. I like S3's round face, rotating bezel control, LTE calls, 2-day battery life, and durability. I wear mine constantly and it has held up so well while my Apple watch was a scratched-up mess. I was so careful with the Apple watch but it was not durable in my experience. I do wish there were as many watchband options as there are for Apple. I'm looking forward to S4: new profile (hopefully smaller/thinner) and capabilities.
Haven't read much on the S4?
Do you have a link? They have a release time frame listed yet? 4th qtr 2018?
I think Fall 2018

$550 Note 8 "new other" on Craigslist, warranty ends November 2018. A good buy or better to wait?
Just got Oreo yesterday on my Note and to my surprise the phone dialer now takes 2 seconds to open? Anyone else having this "issue"?
