Man, so mad at myself. I laid my Note 8 on my strut tower of my car while I was replacing my headlight bulb, and then when I was done, I closed the hood....well it didn't close. I opened, closed again. Still didn't closed. This time looked around and saw my damn phone and it got crushed. Screen had a tempered glass protector on it which didn't crack nor the screen, but the pixels under it got damaged. I just sent it off to Samsung to get fixed. I hope they do it under warranty. Shows no damage at all. :(

I love my Note 8 but have a couple of issues with it. Firstly the virtual home button. From screen off and no AOD, hard pressing where the home button should be frequently results in nothing happening. I use AOD and double tap the home button with facial recognition to unlock, or the fingerprint sensor in a dark room to circumnavigate this bug so it doesn't trouble me....but is it a hardware fault? Fully depressing the virtual button works 100% of the time when the screen is on, not that I ever need that facility...

Secondly the camera UI doesn't follow the system auto brightness. If I open the camera app at night in poor lighting it is lit up like a nuclear reactor. Is this an Oreo bug, can anyone confirm?

The last one happens to me aswell with Auto Brightness on I guess it's an oreo feature, a bad one in my opinion.
The first never happened to me but can be also a software problem, maybe a factory reset would help?

I did a factory reset with no joy. With the AOD I can just double tap the home button which is better, but I still dislike knowing there's a fault somewhere behind the scenes. As for the camera UI using max brightness, I hope that Samsung pick up on this and issue a software update.

Got a software update on my Note 8, haven't noticed any changes yet? Anyone has a note 8 and has done the update and noticed any changes?

Yeah, make sure Samsung doesn’t charge you if they’re not supposed to. They gave me hassles with my old Note 2 years ago.
Hopefully not. :)

Do you use face unlock? It will go full bright by design to light up your face to try and unlock.

What screen protector does anyone recommend for the Note 8?
The one it comes with, seriously. A couple of deft snips wih some scissors and it's fine. It doesn't cover the edges but those that do peel up in quick time. I also bought Invisible Defender full coverage but haven't felt the need to use it yet. Some people say the official Samsung S8+ protector is a decent fit. No idea why Samsung don't make one for the Note 8! A sales/numbers thing I guess.

The original one peeled off too easily.

I snipped off the peeling parts top right and middle rear left. It now sits as well as any screen protector ever has. Curved screens are a nightmare so I have cut my losses and kept the factory protector on. It does the job and isn't peeling anywhere. I could do much worse with many retail protectors.

I'll have to see if I can find an alright one to protect my Note 8 and baby it. If not, I may have to go a different phone because I cannot deal with constant buying of protectors.

I have the amFirm (or had before I sent my phone off to get my glass repaired after I messed up). It was a great one, just a finger print magnet. I ordered the OTAO one this time as it was another highly recommended one. Pics below are the AmFilm.

I think I might sell the Note 8 for a loss because i am going to hold out for WWDC to see what software announcements Apple has.

I have a Whitestone Dome Screen Protector that still is waiting to go on my Note8, lol!

May put it on one of these weekends, I have had it in my drawer since launch, but just been lazy to put it on my Note8, particularly due to how good the display has been at keeping away scratches.

The Note8 seems to have a stronger display than the S7 Edge that I had, which got a few chips and a scratch on the display within a few months.

Not sure why people still use screen protectors?

Haven't used a screen protector in years, never had a scratch. But I'm very careful with my phones. This last round I decided to not even protect the back of my X and it's still pristine. I really think Gorilla Glass and its variants have improved so much to the point where you really don't need protection against scratches anymore. Now protection against drops are a different matter, but that's why I have Apple care and am extra careful with my phones. I've trained myself to grip it hard anytime it goes into or out of my pocket.

I think I am giving up on my Note 8. I am going to pick up a LG V30 or OnePlus 6. Haven't decided fully yet, but leaning more towards the V30 as I would keep it as a backup phone and get the new iPhone eventually. The tallness bothers me of the Note, the curved screens get in the way all the time and battery life isn't that great to other phones I've had. It's been good while it lasted!

Everything else is subjective but poor battery life? Mine is fabulous. 7-8 hrs of SOT every charge cycle. You must have a bad install/corrupted app/dodgy setting etc.
