I would have to say no. The S8+ fits with absolutely no room to spare, so anything slightly taller is too big. Samsung will most likely introduce another Gear VR and offer it free as a promotion.

They did the same thing with the Note 5, The Gear VR that was out did not fit the Note 5 so they came out with a Special one just for it.

I think one handed use is no longer a thing for many people since the phablet was introduced. Lots of users out there that can't even use a 5.5 inch phone with one hand. And considering the Note in particular has that S Pen, one handed use is not at the top of the list of it's purpose. Can't use the SPen one handed. But I hear what your saying for the ones that still have one handed use at the top of their list. This simply just isn't the phone for those users. That being said, I'll be getting this bad boy on launch. :)

Sounds like someone arguing against having a wider 16:9 phone. You make some good points but I still think that the issue isn't "bigger" but rather "taller". For me being taller makes it more unwieldy for virtually no extra benefit. It's not really a 6.3" screen IMO, they would have had a better phone If they just chopped it shorter. It smacks of simply trying it put check marks on a spec sheet and not functionality.

The one thing i wish Apple would do is make the Apple Pencil support the iPhone, the Note series has a great ability to do things with the S-Pen, what's always put me off is Samsung's OS, their lack of regular updates (including security one's) but if Apple did a Note style phone i would be all over it. Even as an Apple fan i have to give credit where it's due and the Note series deserves it (along with the design of the S8)

I wish that were the case though, but apple has this strange vendetta against the iPhone being used as a PC like device, you can see this is the difference in the iPads UI refinements in iOS 11. It's like they overestimate the stupidity of their user base, but that's definitely par for the course.

The S8 + looks better. I will wait for the reveal. However the addition of the S pen, dual camera and 6GB plus some expected added software features will make it a better buy than the S8+ even if the S8+ is better looking.

I won't pre-order the N8. But I am interested in the camera and software tweaks!

3300 mAh better work out well because that's smaller than the S8+. It better not come down to pen vs battery life with the S8+ and Note 8.

Damn that is one sexy phone. I won't preorder since my S7E is still running like a champ. But unless the iPhone 8 is a phenomenal beast (and can convince me to leave Samsung Pay - I've been using it less nowadays, but that's because I don't go shopping in stores as frequently), I think I'm sold on the Note 8.

If it wasn't for the Duel Camera with 3x optical and other features, I would probably pass on the Note 8. But that combined with 6gb ram and the S-Pen, is enough for me to upgrade. Plus I'm on T-mobile JOD, so I'll be pre-ordering.

I am considering switching from IPhone to the Note 8. I was interested in Note 7 last year and then there was the battery fiasco. I have a Mac, iPad Pro, and Apple Watch s2 so it will be a big adjustment leaving the ecosystem but I don't think I want to pay $1200-1500 for the IPhone 8 and am getting weary of the Apple tax. I plan on moving everything over to Google services beforehand. My only real worry is getting friends and family to use WhatsApp for messaging vs iMessage. I know it will be a big adjustment, at least at first, but I am considering trying it out, at least for a year, and then if dissatisfied I can always return to iPhone in late 2018 when OLED panels and small bezels will hopefully be offered on more models at more reasonable prices.

Several questions:

1) are stereo speakers expected for Note 8?

2) the taller screen seems like a benefit, not a detriment, for browsing websites, reading news articles, etc. Has this been the experience for those using S8+?

I loved the taller screen when I had the S8, less scrolling and made multiwindow more useful. The only downside is that the phone was taller and it was harder to use one handed without shimming your hand up. However if you remove the top and bottom bezels suddenly it looks like it would be the same height as a normal phone, I think next year iterations of the bezeless phone will be much better than this years, and the iPhone looks like it will be the first to get this new aspect ratio done correctly.

As for stereo speakers, I've seen rumors saying it will have some similar to how the iPhone and HTC phones have done it, with one bottoms facing speaker and the earpeice.

Yeah, I have JOD, as well. What you mentioned is enough for me. To be honest, I wish it was abit wider and less tall but it's still good. The s pen will be welcome, again. However, I think I might wait for some great deals. The s8 and s8+ have had some very good deals. We'll see...

Comparison between the iPhone 8, Note 8 and LG V30. iPhone has the smallest display of them all: a 5.8-inch one, while the Galaxy Note 8 is expected to come with a 6.3-inch screen, while the V30 is said to ship with a 6-inch display.

It's weird how much more harmonious the LG phones' aspect ratio look, even though the difference is only 18:9 to 18.5:9. The LG phones look almost like 16:9 honestly. Definitely interested to see what the V30 brings as the N8 isn't looking very Note-y at all to me.

It should be wider than the S8+. Probably the same width difference of the S8 vs S8+.

Makes me think about Apple iPhone 8 and it's L shaped battery Samsung is still using rectangle shipped battteries and X-rays from the new IPhone 8 show Apple is using L shipped batteries something that will benefits the Note 9 or if Apple calls the new device the iPhone X then Samsung will skip a number Like they jumped from Note 5 to the Note 7 in this case the Note 10 next year.

Wow agreed if you omit the Note 8 LG V30 with its larger and wider OLED display is much bigger especially since it does not have that upper camera tab which makes the izphones display even smaller more like 5.7" not 5.8" measured diagonally.

Not as much as you think. Far more often than not, when someone shows me their iPhone or iPad and I ask what model they have, they have no idea. The follow up question from them is then usually, 'How can you tell?' or 'I bought it X years ago'.

Just had this happen over the weekend. I have a 6 Plus and my wife just bought a 7 Plus. I was commenting on how I liked live photos but that my phone couldn't take them. Sister-in-law says her iPhone 6 can take them so my 6 Plus can take them. I told her it couldn't, that it was only available on the 6s or newer. She told me to open my camera so she could show me how to enable it, it wasn't there. She then showed me where it was on her camera. Again, I told her she had a 6s, she swore up and down she had a 6. Then she told me I just needed to upgrade my software. LOL.

This is the same chick that argued with me saying Die Harder was not a sequel to Die Hard.

Woohoo! iPhone 6 can now get 3D touch with a software update too! :D:D

I won't switch over as I need to keep an iPhone but I too am not happy paying the apple tax. I'd rather just keep my 7 plus and get the note 8 to be honest. Unless there is some wow factor that we don't know about with the iPhone 8 paying £1,200 for a phone just seems ridiculous to me.

My feelings too.... I might get the 7s + instead to get camera improvements and wireless charging. But not spending $1200 on an iphone.
