Same boat, my wife was talking wanting me to order, haven't yet, I'm waiting until the iPhone announcement to make sure I can afford both, but I really haven't been too hyped up about the Note 8, yes it's an awesome device and that camera is great, but the height still bothers me. I'm much more excited to get my essential phone this week and the next iPhone. But if Samsung can take out those top and bottom bezels count me back in. Next years Note is the one I'm looking forward to, but I've got the discount now.

I’m 60/40 for the Note 8 versus the new Pixel XL. While I love stock Android and strongly dislike TouchWiz, I always use Nova Launcher so that’s a non issue for me. The wireless charging on the Note 8 and the lack of accessories for the Pixel XL that I had are making me lean towards the Note 8, but I’m not sold on it yet. If I get the Note 8 and the new Pixel XL wows me, I’m sure I can sell my Note 8 for what I paid for it though. First world problems!

You could wait until the last day to order your Note, you don't have to send in your trade in until 14 days after you receive the new phone, so the pixel should be announced before your return window is up.

I didn’t think of that, thanks for the tip!

I would factory reset your iPhone, something is very off there. My 7plus gets the same great battery life as the 6+6S Plusses. I haven't noticed any difference with iOS 10.3.3 as with any other iOS version on it. I charge once per day only and still have plenty of juice left even on a very heavy usage day.

It's been better today. I also haven't used the camera much. But that camera kills it quick it seems.

Video or stills ? I find video especially in 4K drains any device far more than just taking some snaps. Thankfully for me I rarely shoot much video.

Went on an expedition to see the note8 at my local best buy to compare it with my s7e and s8+ but non was on display yet.

They did however have a Google iot store set up featuring routers, Google home etc. No pixels though.

I still want to look at the note8 before I decide on one.

Both. I did a mixture at my conference. Had to charge it 3 times yesterday.

They can not purchase standard panels due to the fact they are using non conventional dimensions / cutout and that means there is a greater chance of the better quality panels because of the odd shape there would be more QC as I imagine the unconventional shape would require tighter control and yields.

Yes they can since the panels come on a large slab and can be cut ......watch and learn

Note 8 has no band 71 support on T-Mobile means you won't get prime 600MHz frequency band that benefits in-building reception. That's probably a no-go for me since I'm thinking of switching from Verizon to T-Mobile. Note 9 will be better with 7nm Snapdragon 845 and hopefully Windows 10 DeX.
Qualcomm stated no phone in existence suporots that's band. Maybe the next iPhone or pixel will?

I didn't think Samsung will give them their best panels and they have some leverage here because apart from LG who can't make as many panels as Apple would need there isn't anyone else. They need Samsung. I'm sure Samsung will give them a good display but not their best.

I think Samsung will provide whatever a customer is willing to pay for and Apple will certainly have stringent requirements for sourced OLED panels.

Samsung as a business is not walking away from billions for the sake of Samsung mobile.

I’d be surprised if it was 5% honestly. I always got the Note for the screen size and used my S Pen maybe five times in the last seven years.

Everyone that I know who has a Note variant (at least 12 people including myself and my girlfriend) uses the s pen regularly. For note taking, it's excellent. For navigation, it's excellent. For quick sketches, it's excellent. For some, it may not be the main reason to get the Note but it's a good reason.

The thing I love using it for most is editing photos, cropping pics, marking up things and taking screenshots.

I've been using my iPhone over the past few days and getting frustrated mainly because it can't do split screen. I will be looking forward to using that again.

Also I know it must be possible but on android can you listen to a YouTube video either via the web or the app with the screen off, without having to subscribe to YouTube red as it's not available here.

I use it on my Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and its great for note taking. I never used my Note phones to take notes though. If I get the Note 8, which I probably will, I’ll force myself to use the S Pen. My Uncle’s law firm is looking to go digital and use the Note 8 for signatures and such so I want to see how that plays out for them.

Well for us folk that get cold winters, having the SPen to navigate when wearing winter gloves saves you from having to keep taking off your gloves in the cold. And right at the same time, that iris scanner really comes in handy with gloves.

I never even thought of that, it makes sense.

Yeah, Minnesota winters are about as cold as they get. The spen is very handy.
