Nice little Note 8 concept video...

That looks like a big tablet phone. Where is @Oohara? I think he would like that! I love small phones, myself, which is why I value my SE so much for when I need a phone that fits the pocket. And so I have it, and so it stays with me until it doesn't work anymore. I can still get a lot done on that small display.

But I want my next smart phone to be "yuge". If I am going to be using a stylus or pen on it, I want a generous display and I want the curves at the edges to be modest. I'd really prefer a flat display, but like the iPhone headphone jack, it seems that ship has sailed.

:0 this thread is dead now.

Here are some leaks to spice things up:

25/5/17: An alleged Galaxy Note 8 front panel (below) has surfaced online, confirming that the smartphone will feature a Galaxy S8-style 'bezel-less' display likely with an 18.5:9 ratio. The leak also confirms, perhaps unsurprisingly, that the handset will be made available in black.

22/5/17:A Galaxy Note 8 dummy model has leaked on video courtesy of TechNavi. It shows an early concept for the Galaxy Note 8 design, and with no fingerprint scanner on its front of rear, hints that it could be the first Samsung smartphone to offer an under-screen sensor. The clip, which has since been pulled, also shows dual-camera setup on back of the Galaxy Note 8, with what looks like a dual LED flash underneath.

15/5/16: A leak via Weibo has 'confirmed' that the Galaxy Note 8 will pack a 6.3in screen, making it the biggest phone in Samsung's Note range so far. This screen will come with support for Samsung's S Pen stylus, and will adopt the same 18.5:9 aspect ratio as the Galaxy S8 and S8+

Watch out iPhone 8, this Galaxy Note 8 leak has us drooling

While the iPhone 8 hype will be real, Samsung is well equipped to counter it with the Note 8. Once again, they have momentum coming off the S8, as they had momentum coming off the S7 models. It's up to them to deliver better this year. The potential is there.

I'm not a Note user, but I always respect the line. Excited to see the Note 8 just as much as I'm excited to see the iPhone 8.

EDIT: Ah, same link that the poster above posted.

Is it just me or does it look like the edge curve has been reduced?

Bleh, I think the 18.5:9 ratio is going to ruin the note. The note's always been about having the biggest screen possible, and that includes both horizontally and vertically. The s8 is inferior due to this, but I can see why people might want it because it's easier to hold. But the note series is all about screen, having the best and largest screen out there.

New Note 8 render. Greatness is coming. This phone will be my final yearly upgrade. After that, I upgrade every contract renewal. Cannot wait.

If they put the fingerprint sensor in the same place as the S8 that's a deal breaker for me

If they can't put it in the front, at least put it in the power button like Sony does in the Xperia line.

Isn't the power button the recent Samsung phones really thin?

I prefer a front positioned sensor but can deal with a properly positioned rear sensor. Just learn from the S8, Samsung, and move it closer to the natural resting position of one's index finger and it'll be fine.

agree...i don't mind the FPS on the back. Just model it after the Pixel and it will be great. Under the display in front works too.

If they keep it on the back, they would have to move it anyway to make way for the dual camera, no?

Has the dual camera actually been even remotely confirmed beyond these third party renders?

Considering how close we are the typical release date of the Note, I'm guessing design has already been finalized--may have been for a while and that the mild uproar about the FP sensor is moot. Redesigning these phones is no simple feat--minor changes alone probably take months of testing.

Don't be surprised if the Note's FP is in the same location as the S8, especially if there is a dual camera positioned vertically.

if you're right then it is big fail on Samsung's part. They should have had a contingency plan in place considering what happened with the S8.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised at all. The Note often follows closely the design cues of the Galaxy S.

We may not see a better FPS placement until the S9.

I don't mind the FPS on the back to be honest. Rather have it built into the front home button. But round and under the camera works for me!

Same here. If they can't get it under the display I wonder if this suggests that tech is just nowhere near ready for prime time. Rumors have been floated that Apple can't do it either in time for the 8.

The Note 8 might launcher earlier than expected. Now that the technology is not ready to put the FPS under the display. Samsung might release the Note 8 in mid August. That just months away.

If ever they should want to get ahead of the iPhone launch, this year would be it.

I'm back on the Note 5 now the Nougat update finally arrived... much improved software. I'd be ready to pay in August assuming it's problem-free.
