So I actually got a chance to look at the new Samsung iNote8 I mean note8 at my local best buy.
first thing I noticed was that the price of the s8 and s8+ went back up big time. After I finally got the note out of retail mode, it took me a short time to find chrome, Samsung internet was in the Samsung folder. To me the app drawer was just stuffed with junk, folders and more stuff. It reminded me of the iOS home screen, you know, wall o icons. I mean this is Samsung so yeah. Most of the preloaded software is just junk. Phone was a bit stuttery in Samsung fashion, I think they may have this feature trade marked because it appears all of their devices do this. I can't wait to see what other junk the carriers are going to add.
Yes, it was demo mode. Yes, display model, yes, not representative of the phone in your pocket and yes, most average consumers will not care or notice this.
My s7e has this feature also with nova launcher.
What also struck me was how square and brick like the phone was, like the old Sony xperias (I think that is the line, I never really followed Sony phones).
Then the price, ouch!
I don't know, maybe I need a bit more time with the device maybe one that is not lashed down. Right now it don't look to be a good purchase. Right now I think my s7 edge will work as a daily driver, even though I waited for this new note since I missed the chance with the note 7. Right now, I walked away from the demo going meh. I had the note 2 (which was very nice and had root) and the note 4 I think I had rooted as well, cant even remember now.
It seems like there is something missing with the new Samsung hardware. Not sure what that is.
Anyway, just some quick thoughts on the device. If the useless software was gone and the goofy iOS-type gestures where binned (I know, there is always nova), then maybe a better buy for me.
