Ah, it burns. Great deals from carriers I can't get service with.
[doublepost=1505268502][/doublepost]Could get the Note 8 for about 40$ a month on jump every year. Anyone here switch from the S8+ and what is your experience?

My only stopping point is that some people have said that the Note8 is 8+ and a stylist.
I have followed you for a long time 5 years or so, you are so knowledgeable. I don't get you, stylist?
[doublepost=1505270144][/doublepost]S-pen works everywhere, be it webpages, photos, you get it.
it just works.

You're giving me far more credit than I deserve. I only play a knowledgeable person on TV. And that stylus thing is what's probably going to make me push this button over here.

Still better than where it currently is.

True, but at the same time, if the location of a FP is the lone Achilles heel, you're doing something right. Samsung offers zero biometric corner cutting in terms of number of biometric options. Location is abhorrent/ghastly lol.
[doublepost=1505272809][/doublepost]When I read $75 for quick charge on the newest iPhone 10/X, that pushed me over the edge. Note 8 it is, final decision. I will get myself Nova Launcher and disable some bloat to maximize my experience. This time, I will try to stop caring about software updates and monthly patches.

Anyone else thinking about a Note 8 to hold them over until the iPhone X comes out? I don't know if I can wait 2 months without a new toy to play with.

Just go with the Note 8. The iPhone X is a compromising product from top to bottom. Slow facial detection? Check. Expensive quick charge feature? Check. Abhorrent price tag? Check. Weird resolution and screen that isn't up the Note 8's level? Check. A phone that will be mistreated with the 2018 iPhones? Check.

No idea what you're talking about with these two...?

The bit with the charger suuuuuuucks.

Facial recognition looks really fast. I don't know if you can change it to directly open to the home screen. If yes, it will be faster than touch ID.

It better be an option because outside of that it is slow imo.

I think they're going to make you swipe every time. Even if they didn't, TouchID is still faster because you can have your phone unlocked before it even gets brought up to your face.

I definitely have concerns about the X, but I'm stuck in Apple's ecosystem. Maybe a jaunt with the Note 8 will cure me.

Here you go! $74, but I put $75 since I rounded up lol. Facial detection requires tapping the screen and a swipe up right on the X?

Yeah that facial detection AND swiping up is idiotic at best. I've seen a couple of previewers who had hands on write up that the facial detection was a bit slow, one wrote up that they couldn't get it to work consistently. Definitely concerning. Then there's the whole sunglass thing...

More like replace the iPhone X as my next purchase :p

I know how tired we all are of the "Steve Jobs would never have allowed this" schtick but in this case I actually think it's true... IMO they blew it with the notch on that display because that is one fork-in-the-eye level compromise. For a truly revolutionary iPhone they should have waited until they could have touchID under the display and a way to avoid that notch.

The Note 8 display (and the V30, and others...) with it's next-to-nothing bezels and symmetrical screen looks way more space age than the X, and facial recognition even though it might work smoother than Samsung's implementation is just so clearly taking after someone who was faster than them (also with wireless charging).

Anyway, I didn't mean to veer into the "x copying y" ditch because that does lead nowhere, I'm just mentioning those things because I think they'll deter from how revolutionary the X comes across to at least part of the public. My biggest gripe is the non symmetrical screen, because that notch simply contradicts the whole point of having an edge to edge screen.

I hear ya with the ecosystem blues though... Because what really turned me on in that presentation was the AW 3 with cellular.. That thing I just want.

I love the notch, I think it was a great decision to save screen space. Where they fubared it is in not blacking out the ears permanently, aesthetically it looks horrible. I don't think touch ID would make a difference as they need some kind of top bezel anyway for all the hardware that goes there.

I am also faced with the problem of being stuck in Apple's ecosystem but gosh, the Note 8 actually looks like it could enhance my work day with the s-pen, specifically with jotting down notes on the lock screen.

That reminds me of how iris scanning worked for me on the Note 7. A hair slow, needed a swipe, and failed often in brightly lit rooms.
