That was my thought process as well. Out the door for the Note 8 around $600 for the AT&T version including buying the 5S trade in. No way I’ll lose money on that deal if I decide to sell after a few months. And if I do lose I can’t imagine it’ll be much. Not really impressed with the X so it’s either the Note 8 or I’ll just keep my 7+ until next year (gasp)

FWIW I spoke with Samsung rep today because my order from Samsung said will arrive by 9/14. Lady told me they will start shipping on 9/15 based on availability.
I pre-ordered on Aug 24 and my pre-order email said ships 9/11. It actually shipped 9/9 and arrived 9/12.. but I'm out of town till tomorrow! Ugh...
I wonder if the extra RAM will help out Bixby Home. It keeps refreshing a lot on mine, or causes web pages to refresh.

- Yes, Virginia, there is a performance boost over the S8. The phone is fast but mostly it's very fluid and STABLE. I've had zero lag. No stutter. I'm not an insane crazy multitasker but apps don't seem to need refreshing, and multi window is seamless.
- Screen is best in class. But you already know this so I won't bother other than to say I'm usually a pretty big defender of iPhone's display...and now my 7 Plus looks like a dirty window when I look at it.
- S-Pen is such a great value add. I don't use it a lot but here's the thing: just when you're trying to figure a workaround to do something on your phone, you pause, take the S-Pen out and boom - it ususlly has whatever capability you're looking for.
- Form factor is perfect. Edge design without too much edge.
- I am not a photographer so YMMV on my assessment of the camera: GREAT. App opens fast and you can fire off a shot that 9 times out of 10 looks great. I find the portrait feature much better here than on the 7 Plus. Seems less finicky here.
- Can't really tell about battery. It seems as good as my S8 Plus, which was excellent. I can't tell because im in the habit of popping my phone on a charging pad whenever I get to around 50 percent.

I've made up my mind. I'm sticking with my note 8.
I’m getting around 5 hrs SOT, after 4 charge cycles.
My Settings :
Screen set to Auto
BT ON
WiFi ON
NFC OFF
Beaming Service OFF
GPS High Accuracy and always ON
Usage :
6 email accounts set to PUSH
Around 1.5 hrs of web browsing throughout the day using Chrome
Push enabled for Twitter, FB, Tapatalk, WhatsApp
Weather Widget (using the Beautiful Widgets app) set to refresh every 30 mins
Phone usage around 30 mins max per day
About an hr of streaming music via BT to Car Audio to/from work using Google Music
About 100 txts per day, and about an hr of WhatsApp usage daily
That’s probably most of it..not accounting for occasional Maps usage, and App updates.

I haven't tried out the Note 8 yet as not been to a store to get my hands on one.
However my colleague at work has an S8 plus and I was a little taken aback at how tall that phone is so to know that the note is taller makes me.
I worry it might be too big for me.

Samsung has an app called Smart Switch that can transfer all of your data from your old phone to the Note8.

It seems 4K 60fps recording is coming to the Note 8 via software update. When Samsung released info on the Exynos 8895, it said it could do 4K recording at 120fps. Now on Sammy's website it says 4K recording at 60fps for the Note 8.
Well I've not heard anything and they were completely useless when I spoke to them earlier so I have no idea when it's coming.
I just got back in town and got my Note 8 from Fedex. Setting it up now. So far, I like it a lot!
also, when I pre-ordered, I selected the wireless charging stand and SD card from Samsung. They advertised a 128GB sd card but sent a 256 GB card! I'll take it! A lot of other on reddit are reporting the same thing.
