Yep there is quite a lot of old misunderstood comments on this mainly as by default Samsung takes photos on release and not on press of the button, you should change this in camera settings to quick tap especially for candid shots

The rest is down to clever processing and focusing where Pixel has always excelled however often its the user not panning with the shot or even using burst mode not dissimilar in principle to the old SLR motor drive to capture the best shot of a moving object :)

The rest is often anecdotal remarks, as rarely do you see reviews with all 2 or 3 phones capturing the same moving object at the same time

The bottom line is YMMV depending on your shooting method, prevailing conditions and subject :)

You should of worked for Steve jobs, it sounds like your blaming the user “you’re holding it wrong” 😂😂

In all seriousness I get your point. Pixels have been known for being able to take the best pictures, yet they don’t have the 200mp camera like Samsung. Sometimes it’s not the equipment, it’s the person on the other end.

I don’t think this phone will be for you as Samsung for whatever reason has always struggled with moving kids and dogs…which is weird because it can handle other moving objects like ceiling fans.
S24+ has done well by me capturing moving mountain bikers and less crazy humans in motion, too

Even tricky shots with sharpness of movement and simultaneous focus on static objects in the frame. Not quite up to DSLR quality results, though overall quite good in terms of portability and quick access to snap point and shoot photos.

I shoot more often in natural light, which may be more Samasung lens/app-friendly than indoor?

I think eventually developers will be able to have their apps integrate with the "now bar" that is new in OneUI 7 to offer similar functionality to live activities.
Yeah I just watched a YouTube video on it. Very very beta but I like the way they are developing it.

The S25 Slim looks the most interesting device to me being both smaller & lighter than the Ultra whilst borrowing much of its camera setup.

Unfortunately it’s not launching until May, probably because otherwise it would cannibalise sales from the other handsets.

The Slim does look interesting to me as well.
It will probably have a smaller battery to make it slimmer than the rest of the line up.

Question. Does OneUI7 have live activities? And if so, how is it? Pretty comparable to iOS or does it need work?
On android app developers could implement similar live activities (ie live updates to lock screen or widgets, when phone is locked), they were not reliant on Samsung Now bar for this, but they may be able to go/utilise this route now, opposed to independent implementation.

I do not know on IPhones maybe developers had to wait for Apple

Any predictions on what the trade in value would be for the 15 Pro Max based on what they were last year for the 14 Pro Max?

Given the rumored price increase… I have no clue.

But the best thing about Samsung, they will have other incentives that would lower the cost if you lock in early, in addition to that… checking in on Reddit can help find some hidden discount gems. That’s how i was able to a $200 refund on my Z Fold 6 for the price difference a week after orders were placed.

So, you actually thinking of doing a trade in? Setting the iPhone aside… test drive the S25U for a week?

I did do the preregister too.

I don't know haha. My mind is all over the place. I hate Apple but hate change nearly as much, which is what prompted me to send back my Pixel so quickly.

I will say that the fact that a member here was able to figure out my issue of setting Google Photos as the default photo app makes the S25 Ultra that much more exciting. The Pixel was pretty boss too so I think all in all, I just need to continue to research.

I wonder if it will use the new battery stacking tech to make up for the slim form factor. Best of both worlds. Maybe that's why it's also coming later as the tech may not be ready until then to go into production scale.

I think you wont go wrong with either Samsung or Google to be honest. I will be watching the Samsung event and if I’m not impressed enough, I’m going to wait for the Pixel 10 later this year.

I think it’s madness to increase the price again, they did it last year. They do have incentives, I’ve got £100 for pre-registering (was £50 but Samsung sent an email offering double for being a member).
Also I’m sure they will be offering pre-order deals, usually double the storage or a free pair of ear buds or Samsung Watch (Last year it was the Galaxy Watch 6 here in the UK) and double the storage.

From that I’m getting that Samsung are using Google’s Gemini and haven't made their own version. If that is the case, it’s very disappointing. Samsung should have made their own version, if i want Gemini at that level integrated into Apps i can buy a Pixel.

I disagree….. I am encouraged by them using Gemini. I’m sure it will be better than anything Samsung can cook up.

It’s funny because people complain that Samsung has too many duplicate apps. They had a bad rap for doing that for years. Now they go with the industry leader in AI instead of their own and they still get criticized

My thinking is just that if I want Gemini, I will buy a Pixel. In fact actually that's why I'm considering waiting for the Pixel 10, that and the camera.
I'm also not impressed with Apple using Chat GPT. I just hope they will work more on AI and for the love of God, they NEED to make Siri better. Gemini makes Siri look a joke.

Who knows what other AI features we will see at the event, maybe not every software features as leaked. I may change my mind after watching the event and them showing off what they have managed to do with Google.

Did you not see the words unique and strongest king in Ice Universe posting ?

It is often the case Samsung introduce new features that take time to filter down in to vanilla android

I’m with you. I understand that switching your smartphone is a tough decision, not one to take lightly.

But you have to weigh what you value more in a smartphone… if the features you have on the iPhone (Live Activities and CarPlay) is what you gravitate toward more, stay with it. I personally value multitasking and stylus functionality, which the iPhone lacks… so it wasn’t as difficult switch for me.

Of course, I enjoyed the Apple Watch.. and everything that is exclusive to the iPhone. But ultimately, my preference is tailored made for Android (particularly Galaxy Fold).

For sure. And I’m not really married to those things. I mean it’s not that hard to open up an app too. And android auto isn’t that bad.

I do have a technical question. Hopefully this will make sense.

My wife and I are expecting a baby. I can only imagine how many videos and pics we’re going to send each other. What is the best way to share these between each other? Now that RCS is on iOS, is that as good as if, let’s say we both had Galaxy phones and used Samsung Share or whatever the heck it’s called?

That’s also partly why I’m thinking switching. It would be really easy to share via Samsung Share if that’s the best way to preserve quality.

Oh and she will never buy an iPhone. LOL.

Congrats on the baby! What a blessing!

But why not create a shared photo drive? You can stay on iPhone and she can with Android... I often do this with Google Drive. I have a folder that I use to access photos/videos between my iPad and Galaxy Fold... you can create a shared folder and manage photos that way.

It's much easier with my Galaxy Fold to share photos once I tap share.. there's the folder immediately accessible and I tap that. But with the iPad.. I have to tap Drive and then navigate to the drive. It's not as if it's tedious or anything... just more action compared to the Galaxy Fold.
