Interesting, I wonder why Google do this tho. Doesn't it just give people more of a reason to stay with Samsung than jump to a Pixel 🤔
Samsung runs Android... and Samsung is most popular Android OEM, it's a no brainer for Google to have Gemini integrated with Galaxy devices.

Whether a consumer buys a Pixel or a Galaxy device... it's a win for Google no matter what.

I am thinking the black and hoping the side rails match as well
Supposedly, Samsung could offer a jet black exclusive look for their online store... is that what you referring to? Or the standard (titanium) black?

Yes, I was hoping to get an all blacked out S25 Ultra

True, Google wins no matter what. Have you tried a Pixel phone? I wonder what the better experience is, Google One, Google Photos and so on. Is Gemini better on Pixel, I'm assuming Google keep some features back for the Pixel line up only. Also don't Google do Pixel Drops, where features get announced every couple of months.

Love it!

Not a fan, but at least its a modest rounding :)

The Pixel 10 is going to more or less the same… at this point, companies are full speed ahead on AI.

Gemini is going to be integrated in the S24U when 7.1 drops next couple months… so, you’ll still have access to Gemini on your current phone. IMO the appeal of the Pixel devices is using pure Android and I have yet to see you express that.

Because if you are expecting crazy amount of hardware changes for the upcoming Pixel 10… that likely could lead to disappointment. If the Pixel 9 series didn’t interest you enough (big leap compared to the Pixel 8)… not sure what you are expecting with year out of Google, because the focus is all about AI going forward.
I'm glad you said that LOL

I swear I can understand more the Mrs options on what to wear tonight than Dave's permutations on choices for a 2nd phone :D:D:D

Congrats on the baby! What a blessing!

But why not create a shared photo drive? You can stay on iPhone and she can with Android... I often do this with Google Drive. I have a folder that I use to access photos/videos between my iPad and Galaxy Fold... you can create a shared folder and manage photos that way.

It's much easier with my Galaxy Fold to share photos once I tap share.. there's the folder immediately accessible and I tap that. But with the iPad.. I have to tap Drive and then navigate to the drive. It's not as if it's tedious or anything... just more action compared to the Galaxy Fold.
This is the way....I have multiple shared photo albums in Google Photos (and some icloud albums as well) that I share with various family members and work groups.

BUT, with RCS now that it finally seems to work consistently between iOS and Android, sharing media via messaging is a good experience.

@mjschabow the Android options that function like Airdrop work nearly as well as long as you are on the same type of Android device (Galaxy to Galaxy or Pixel to Pixel). I've had no issues at all with this. The main things you will really be missing if you switch are Live Activities, Facetime, AW functionality, and FindMy if you use that at all. Also, congrats on the little one!!

Well, the latest phone I tried from Google was the Nexus 6P. And once Apple introduced large iPhones with the 6 Plus back in 2014... because Google launched the Pixel line in 2016, I had no reason to try Google. And if I did, it was very brief.

I think Gemini will be as good on Galaxy devices once it's integrated... what Google keeps for themselves are certain AI perks like Pixel Studio and Call Screening.

Call screening is a US only perk no good for UK :(

When you are both on Samsung you can also use MS Onedrive too for back-up etc in addition to google photos and grant each other access
That's a great point! My thought process is that I just know we're going to share a ton of photos together and I don't want it to be a cumbersome experience.

Thanks! It's funny, of all of those things, Live Activities is the one I would probably miss the most. But it seems like Samsung is creating their own version.

It really is just one of those little conveniences that you don't realize how much you use it until you don't have it. Like last night, I do all my Chick Fil A orders in app (them reward points add up) and order them for pickup in the drive thru. I enter the order as I'm leaving my daughter's cheer practice 20 miles away. The order tracker is on my lock screen the entire time. I pull in to chick fil a and it detects that I'm there and shows it on the lock screen. It then gives me instructions on what to do to next. Is it a deal breaking feature? Not really, but its definitely nice to have.

You can keep it simple as you like :)

I like the fact that settings are backed up by Samsung and Google, all media is backed up to my onedrive (Samsung preferred route) but equally can be google and whatsapp is backed up to both as our family sharing is a whatsapp group.

I like the redundancy options personally

The Line app (Thailand's preferred chat) is the pain as although media is backed up to my onedrive the chat media expires in the app and cannot be restored now, especially as they have now removed albums

I never get well rested always "Needs attention" :(

I've not used the features of that on my S24 Ultra. It's always my Apple Watch that tells me I'm under sleeping or stressed out 😬

I did think about getting the Galaxy Ring tho, especially if the second gen is announced at the same event as the S25 lineup.

We are several years into 5G now. Why must we continue to tag 5G on to the end of the device name? We know it's not going to be a 4G device. Is it just so that we can hear Flossy say "5 Gangster" in his reviews?
Yeah it does seem ludicrous to include "5G" in a smartphone name in 2025!

The S25 advertisement has leaked online

Ok I have to admit that it's growing on me, those features are impressive. Although how does it know that you are well rested, is it from the watch or Galaxy ring.
The limiting noise feature would be great for me. I play shows in noisy bars and there are so many times that a video is recorded and you hear all the chatter in the background.

Sounds like that feature would be great for you. Google have a similar one called Audio Eraser. It does the same thing.

I do wonder if the video has to be taken on my phone to do that though. Most of the time, it's someone using their phone to take a video and then they send it to me
