Ok, a couple of things...

First, that poster said anyone who returned this phone must not have been able to afford it on the basis of him thinking the phone is great. Thats a ridiculous statement so I called him out on it. Hows that me judging?

Second, my comment to SteveJUAE wasnt based on a single post, but a general way he interacts with everyone on these boards. He talks down to people and acts like any opinion that differs from his is wrong and ridicules them for it. Judging by the "likes" on my post calling him out, I'm not the only one that feels this way.

Lastly, and heres the most interesting part of your post, is that because I returned the device within 48 hours I (according to you) probably didnt even actually have the device because why else would I be so stupid as to return it already? Wow. Do we need to show receipts around here to verify purchases now before having an opinion. You seem to have a strong opinion on this phone...so Im going to need to see proof of purchase before anything you say is valid. Sound good?

Oh and apparently I cant have any more of an opinion on it than someone who played with it at Best Buy. Did that person at Best Buy have it in their hand/pocket for 48 hours like I did? Did they put over 10 hours of screen on time on it like I did? Did they test different launchers? Did they test countless split screen combinations? Did they watch a full movie on it? Did they make countless phone and video calls? Did they test almost every native app to see what flex mode offered? You get my point.

I put it through the paces of things I do everyday and tried different things that arent possible or as seamless on regular phones. In the end I judged it to be a great phone, but the benefits I gained with it over other phones werent enough in my opinion to pay a $1k premium over other flagships. Others may have a differing opinion and thats fine. But using the phone for 2 weeks vs 48 hours wasnt going to change that opinion. I saw what the phone had to offer and had plenty of time on it to form that opinion.

The ignore button is your friend...makes reading threads like these much more constructive.

The proclamation that this thread is for those interested in the Fold 2 alone is laughable. Interested doesn’t mean blind lust. I’m very interested in the Fold 2 but I’m also capable of recognizing aspects that either don’t match my needs and preferences and am also free to criticize objective weaknesses.

The belief by some here that you must own a device to be able to speak about it is just pure ********. There’s an awful out of criticism about Apple flung around these threads by people who positively don’t own all the devices they’re criticizing.

So you're saying that people who bought it for a day and returned it can't therefore have an opinion?
What does that mean for someone like me then who has never owned it? I'm not allowed to come into a public forum that encourages device discussion and comment on the device because I've never owned it, nor do I intend to buy it?

I don't know, what do you think? Should I just go into iOS threads and start talking about how I know longer care to buy one? Sure I could do that, but what purpose does it serve? This is the same old bs point people like to make up when they go into threads to stir things up. "Oh this is an internet forum, can't I come here and share my point of view on how much I don't care for this device?" Good grief.

People are paying up to £2k for this phone. If they're not feeling it after day 1 or if they know from a hands on that it's not for them then that's their decision.
As I've said in my post, it's anyone's choice to do so, as it's my choice to call it a joke.

By your logic, phone shops would be pointless having demo units out as people wouldn't be able to forge any opinion what so ever from having a play on one unless they lived in the store for a week or more sleeping next to it. Ridiculous.

Bingo! This is exactly why they have demos. So you don't buy something and return it for the very reason you would have already known from playing with the demo. And that's why I said any objective person would say it's a joke to return something within a day, for obvious reasons that you would have known by just playing with the demo. You know, things like the front screen being to small, the device's weight, the feeling of the inner screen, lack of accessories, etc...All these things are points you would already know before purchasing. SMH, why is that so hard to understand?

So with that being said, when you have a thread about any particular device, it comes to reason, only people who have some interest in the device would be in it. So if you already bought it, and returned it, you are no longer interested. You found the device so pointless to yourself that you only needed a day to make that conclusion. That's how unnecessary the device like this is to someone like that. And as I've said, for someone like that, your opinion holds no more weight than anyone else who's played with the device at a store. The actual users who are taking the time to discover what it can do in various use cases, would be the ones who could answer questions about all the things we can't find out about playing with it at a store. These are the users who add substance to threads.

I just got hands on with the device at Best Buy and have some thoughts. I haven’t been this excited for a smartphone since the iPhone X in 2017. With that said, I was a bit disappointed in the front display. It’s 25:9 aspect radio is quite horrendous to use and it feels like you’re browsing the web on a skinny tv remote. On top of that, 16:9 YouTube videos look comically small at a 4.3” diagonal. The front display is also not as sharp as I would like.

This phone is a feat of engineering but I have to echo MKBHD’s review. At $2,000 it’s too much of a compromise going from 25:9 to 5:4. It’s quite jarring and neither are my particular preference.

With that said, the 7.6” main display is a joy to use and beautiful to look at. The 120Hz jelly scrolling has been greatly reduced and it’s super fast and smooth. But again, I was disappointed in the 6.8” diagonal you get for 16:9 content.

I still think buying a better front screen smartphone and a Galaxy S7+ is the way to go and you can even save a few dollars. I just received my Tab S7+ and am in love. I like the 16:10 aspect ratio and you get a 12” diagonal for 16:9 content. I’ll be buying an iPhone 12 next month downsizing from a Xs Max.

To me, the biggest problem with the Fold2 is its aspect ratios, with the front screen being especially disappointing. Just my two cents but bravo Samsung on creating a feat of engineering!

Thing is, you never know until you try it.
There's been so many devices I've been mega hyped for and when I have received them I just knew they were not for me. For varying reasons.
It's difficult to find that Holy Grail device. For some, the Fold 2 will be it. But it won't be for everyone. Least you tried it.

Yep. Im glad I did. If anything it made me more excited for foldable devices. I'll almost definitely own one in the future.

I could not disagree any more if I tried. Wow. Talk about delusional.

I buy a lot of devices. There have been so many times on this forum where I have posted about my experience with a device that I have returned after a couple of days, and I believe that my time with it has helped other people in making their decision. In the same way other posters opinions here have done the same for me.

That's what this is all about.

For you to say that only people with the device who use it for extended periods of time and love it are the ones adding substance to threads is ridiculous. And actually insulting to all of the people who contribute to these threads on a daily basis.

As I expected, anyone who wants to talk BS will continue to do so with deflection and projection. You do you.
BTW, look at the Jetcat3's post, #853. There's a person who knows what a demo is for and how to give feedback in a constructive way. And he/she didn't even have to buy the device to make such a constructive post.

When you pull your tongue out of Samsung's ass - which I am guessing you never will, then I'll take you seriously.
Until then - enjoy. Ignore list here you come!

You gotta love these guys, they can dish it out, but can't take anything back. They cry foul and tell everyone they're only here to share in the discussion, but as soon as people respond to them in a respectable manner, It's basically this: Let me talk and make rude comments, but as soon as you hurt my feelings and question my intention in this thread, I'm gonna hit the ignore/report button.

If you think anything about your posts are respectable, then you are again proving you have no grasp on reality. That is all I will say to you. You have offended a lot of people with your post about how they bring nothing to a discussion because they are negative about a company you have an unhealthy obsession with. So if anyone needs to learn about dishing out and taking it, it's you pal. No more will be said from me.

Enjoy your Samsung library of devices and get yourself a tissue to wipe your tears when people start saying nasty things about them.

Funny how I pointed out in a reply to your post what all things I tested during my time with the phone that disputes what you're saying. You've conveniently chosen not to respond to it and continue with this.

So thats cool.

Imagine being so insecure that you need to constantly pat yourself on the back on internet forums and get defensive when someone doesn't share you're opinion on an inanimate object.
Funny I thought your summation was reasonable and you noted you would rather spend your money elsewhere

Seems with this type of comment your sincerity was wafer thin and others may have guessed your intent correctly

What a shame

As for being insecure, you having to solicit others, well that says it all LOL

So, looks like my preferred home screen (lawn chair) doesn't work right with this, everytime I open or close it, the icons shift and stuff gets messed up.

Using Shade right now, and that seems to work better, but still not how I would like it to be have. In shade both home screens are the same layout and what I would really like to do is have one layout for the outside display and a different one for the inside. Anyone know of one beside the stock Samsung one?

Also, anyway to make apps launch in "widescreen" tablet while in portrait? Love the youtube layout when in landscape and want it to be the same when in portrait.

Quick note: Set your minimum width in developer settings to either 720dp or 800dp... it just makes everything look more crisp and feels more like a "desktop" or "tablet"

Thanks for that tip, makes a huge difference. And Youtube actually shows at 1440.

Come on. I'm not sure why it's only EVER in the Samsung threads in this section where people are frowned upon for saying anything negative. Doesn't happen in the Pixel thread, or anywhere else outside of the iPhone section.

People are paying up to £2k for this phone. If they're not feeling it after day 1 or if they know from a hands on that it's not for them then that's their decision. Ridiculous.

Plus there’s also certain devices I can just tell by watching YouTube videos and reading about that it wouldn’t fit my needs

Case in point the Surface Duo everything I’ve watched on it has shown that it’s a device that doesn’t know what it’s supposed to do and the software is severely half baked.

From all that I can say it is a piece of trash phone that costs way way more than it should.

The Z Fold 2 is a way better more rounded device.

Well...I am going to weigh in on the topics of the day.

I buy a lot of devices and end up selling/returning most of them. But rarely do you see me hang around a device thread after I have returned it to trash the device I have returned. Most people don't even know I returned it...

For me...one day is not enough time for me to get to know a device especially a new form factor. I really have to use it for a week and use it in my normal use flow. Imagine a phone reviewer saying he hated a phone after using it for a few hours? What would most think of that review?

When I first used the Fold 2 for an hour...I almost put it away because of the strangeness of the hinge and the force needed to open and shut it. But now it is like second nature to me. Sames with the external display......thought it would be too small and narrow. But I find myself using for most things without opening the phone.

I feel everyone has the right to participate in threads. Everyone should be respectful that while YOU may hate a device....but it may be SOMEONE else favorite phone. Temper posts accordingly

Doing drive by negative posts should be moderated imho

I can only speak for myself, but I'm still here because it's a phone/form factor I'm still interested in so I'm curious as to how others like it and what issues/findings they discover over time.

And honestly, I haven't seen anyone being very negative of this device at all. All the criticism has been minor things with glowing praise overall.
