My time with the Fold 2 made it clear that foldables are indeed the future of the smartphone. But they need to address certain things.

1. The outer screen needs to get bigger. I think 6.5" would be ideal.

2. They need to add IP protection. I need to be able to use this device at the beach.

3. It needs to get thinner and lighter. It's cumbersome to hold in one or both hands for long periods of time.

4. It needs to get cheaper for wider adoption. I think $1,499 is the magic number.

These things will take years to all come together, but I'm confident they will eventually get there.

Has anyone tried the Fold V2 in DEX mode ?

I understand the inner screen turns in to both a touchpad and a keyboard

That's a significant jump in productivity usage over the Note's etc

Yeah there are areas of improvement with any device.ip rating I think is important certainly trips away and peace of mind

I'm sure Samsung will increase the size just look at the improvement from fold 1 on the front design. Still think it's useable and let's face it you buy the fold for the big outer display

Yeah most reviewers have praised the device, but their main concern has been having concrete or other hard surfaces at their feet when out & about, in fear of dropping the Fold 2.

So clearly, Samsung should’ve included a magic flying carpet with this thing, to put people’s minds at ease when leaving the house.
😉

I'm just glad I have a case for my fold 2 for when it arrives..I don't ever go caseless
amazon seem to be getting more options just added this case on my wishlist spigen thin fit its not in stock and on the american store it says mid october they should get stock so hoping its around that time in the uk.

Should i get another before this one is delivered ? The phone is covered for theft accidental damage etc but to go caseless even for a few weeks is not something i do.

its a 1.8k phone so why match it with cheap tat so you've done the right thing.

i tend to leave my case on though for months so buying 2 is just a waste i'm tempted by the samsung leather brown not sure how well it would go with the mystic bronze option i've gone for and it only covers the back the spigen thin covers more of the phone.

I have the Samsung leather case in black. I ordered it from Samsung at the same time as the phone. My thinking was that even though it’s expensive it can always be returned if needed, and I would feel more comfortable handling the phone in the short term. This is how it looks with the mystic bronze:

Just tried Dex mode - the touchpad and keyboard work quite well. I’m impressed with this device so far.

That is really cool, tried the Note 20U DEX mode wireless on my TV and it is greatly improved but the Fold with the added KB makes this functionality great

This has defiantly knocked the thought of getting the S7 Tab for me or any separate tablet really and will be interesting using jointly on my 49" S9 monitor and our last Macbook we have

for some reason...the wallpaper and lock screen changed overnight to the defaults the Fold shipped with even though I changed them. Weird! I didn't make any changes or installed anything new. It changed to the purple butterfly wallpaper and lockscreen o_O

That's odd. I wonder if one of the Samsung apps updated overnight?

I'm amazed at how many bigger Youtube channels have complained about apps like Instagram not being full screen, but then you got these complete nobody Youtube channels showing otherwise with Samsung's Good Lock. Really too bad, as the bigger channels have so much of a larger audience to spread incomplete information. That's when you start seeing the benefits of someone who actually will use the device as their own. They'll do justice to the device in the review.

Hey guys, I need some tips for Android, it's been so long since I've used it. Is there any way to get notifications to display the content and not just an icon? I know I can click on the icon to get more info, but I like how on my iphone I can still be in the lock screen and see the content of my notifications. Ideally I'd love this on the AOD screen, but that may be asking too much.

For the camera is there any way to force 16:9 pictures/video in portrait? I'm noticing that I can't see the screen at all with polarized sunglasses if it's in landscape so I can't really take pictures/videos outside with my sunglasses on, sucks as I haven't had this issue in several years. I am using 1:1 which is better than 9:16, but it would be nice to get 16:9.

Perfect video to demonstrate my point.
I've had Good Lock on my Note 10+ for a while now. Along with Samsung's One Handed Operation+, It's the reason I don't use a custom launcher.

Amazing what you don't realise is there until you try it.. I hated how my recent apps page looked now it looks like I want..and also now I've enabled to swipe down to go from full screen to pop up which is so much easier than before

I think Notistar is what you may be looking for. It's a module in Samsung's Good Lock. It's Samsung own app for more customization. You'll need to download Good Lock in the Galaxy Store, then Notistar will be in there as a component of Good Lock. Just enable it. I like my notifications hidden, so I don't use it. But from what I remember, Notistar gives you full screen notifications on the lockscreen.
