Is it still on the trading block... or have you had a change of heart?

Still very much about to be sold on.
It's funny though, as some days I use it differently to others and that affects my feelings on it.
Today I have been off work and have spent the day pretty much just chilling, watching some YT, Netflix (which I never watch on a smartphone normally), and using the phone open virtually every time I've picked it up. And it's been an absolute joy.

But the last two days whilst I've been working, I've been on work calls trying to reply to messages on the outside screen and being repeatedly annoyed at how narrow and cramped it is. Opening it every time to just send a message comfortably is frustrating.

I've been reading on it every night with the Kindle app and I love it. There's no other device I can do these things on (phome, I mean) and I enjoy using it greatly for certain tasks. But I just don't really love the camera and that's important to me.

I tried to take a pic of something for my baking business today on the phone and hated the result. The top pic is Fold 2, bottom is Xperia 1 ii. Neither have filters, straight from the camera app. I hate this yellow sepia tinge on the fold.

The Xperia takes a photo exactly how it looks to the eye. Samsung does some weird post processing which some love, but I just hate. I need my pics to look good for my business and Samsung's snappers sadly can't cut it.

Seems odd. I wonder is there any settings that could tone down the processing or probably limit the saturation of the photo.

I plan on keeping mine for 2 years. I kept the iPhone X for over 2 years and when the Note10+ came it was a breath of fresh air, but the Fold just brings me back to the days of the original iPhone. Can't really explain it, it's just a delight to use. But I try to limit myself from using the outside screen. It's only for quick interaction when using the outside screen.

Doesn't seem so. iPhone does the same thing. Adds this unnatural yellow tinge to every photo.

Sony have made big strides with their cameras and they're now up there with Pixels for me.

This camera just isn't good enough for a phone this price at retail IMO.

Yeah, after doing some digging. The camera is no better than my Note10+ (when it comes down to specs)... and that’s quite interesting. It seems at this point your buying the phone for the folding display and 120hz. Maybe, I have to start rethinking if it’s all worth it.

I really enjoy the Note line.. I get the S-Pen and expandable storage, which the Fold lacks.

Camera wise it's basically as good as the S20. Just with less zoom

I think for most people the cameras are good and the cameras are very good just not top of the line. Note ultra has better camera features which I'm sure will come to fold soon enough

Generally though all the top cameras there's not much difference and the only people who truly know the difference will be professional photographers or those who take alot of photos who work in media

Only downside on the fold 2 is no periscope lens on the zoom. One area which should be the same for 2k

However with how good cameras are these days I don't think camera should be any deal breaker

What features are you referring to?

I‘m just looking at it terms of specs, of course... It’s very minimal to the eye, but with the money we spending. It matters. Don‘t get me wrong, the software/hardware aspect the Fold has when it comes to enhancing the camera experience... from being able to use it in various positions gives it an advantage.

Spec wise in terms of

8K
108MP
5X periscope zoom

The rest the camera quality is as good i would say.

The fold though has great areas as in flex mode for camera...no other phone can do that for one.

Fold 2 also has basically no shutter lag either so you get a quick photo when you really need it.

All i want from the fold is a periscope lens and apart from that it will be perfect really...well plus S pen support.

I think people do get too caught up with camera quality when the difference between the top phones are no different. A lot of the time in reviews people are biased and if they did a blind test the results could likely be different.

You only have to look at the blind tests when samsung phones go against pixel phones...blind tests samsung wins a lot of the time but most will still prefer pixel.

Sorry, but those two pictures I took speak for themselves. I didn't go hunting for differences, I literally took the picture and saw it looked like someone had applied a yellow filter to my photo.
I then took with the other phone in my pocket and got that result.

It's nothing to do with getting caught up with camera quality. You keep saying there's no difference in the top phones and that simply isn't true. If it was, people wouldn't still be buying pixels for their cameras and settling for inferior settings elsewhere Vs a Samsung device. It does matter and it should matter.

Also, these blind tests you refer to are also a bit of a reach. A lot of the time the shots being taken are of landscapes, outdoor still shots or dogs that are sat nicely. Of course all photos are going to come out well in those scenarios. They need taking with a massive pinch of salt.

You only have to look at the pixel sales to realise that clearly having the best camera isn’t that important.

What’s important is having a very good camera that can handle many situations which most flagship cameras do. The fold 2 is still a very good camera. Is it the best? No i wouldn’t say so but it does the job for most people.

The blind tests are normally a range of different type of photos from landscapes, to people to portraits to kids e.t.c.

The one area where pixel really shines is portraits photos of people. The one area where samsung struggles and pixel and iphone shines is selfies where the photos aren’t real to life for me often enough.

For example pixel shines in portrait/selfies
iPhone shines in video/photos of pets
Samsung shines in bright crisp landscapes and zoom

So all 3 have different strengths but most people will not see much of a difference between the brands

I don't think anyone is doubting that these phones offer different camera features. That's obvious. You want to be able to take a photo at 100 x and get something that resembles a blurred Mona Lisa, then get yourself a Samsung S20 Ultra.

My point was about you saying there's no difference between the top phones cameras these days when I think there absolutely is. Talking about the pixel sales also doesn't add any weight to it either.

People still buy pixels because of their camera. I do. But by your logic of them all being the same I'd just stick to a Samsung device and not bother with anything else because Samsung offer me more flexibility. But that isn't how it works for a lot of buyers.

You may not think there's much in it, and that's fine as you can settle for whatever phone takes your fancy then. Whilst some others may share that view I personally don't agree at all.

And 100x isn’t useable but 5x, 10x and 20x certainly is.

Of course there are some differences for people who review photos and post them side by side but for most people there is no difference as long as it does the job that they want it to. I don’t think most people will choose a phone based off just camera.

People do buy pixel’s for the camera yes as it is fantastic but they don’t sell well so clearly having a great camera isn’t enough. People buy phones for the complete package and of course to have the correct pricing.

Obviously you choose the phone you want and do so based off the needs but with how good all flagship cameras are these days i don’t see it being the complete deal breaker for most.

If you take a lot of photos on a daily basics then for sure it’s a key area. For those who takes photos when they go away, family and the odd shot then that’s different i guess.

However i do see your reasoning if you take a lot of high quality photos.

I certainly don't. I buy phones based off the experience it provides me. That's why I preferred the iPhone, until it eventually gotten stale. Although, iOS 14 is refreshing... it doesn't move the needle for me.

And this statement is why the Z Fold 2 is in such a odd position. Because for me... as a complete package it fits the bill. Incredible hardware... inner screen is superb, plenty of software features. But pricing is the problem. I was able to do a trade in to make it more manageable.

But the more I use Fold.. going to any other phone is going to be weird.

I've seen great pics with this camera.. Agree it will eventually get the top specs but from comparisons with other phones this one will hang just fine like Samsung has with other phones..

Sorry but if this was to sing the virtue of the Xepria this may of not been your best example :)

I see you point on the tinge and it is subjective as you note

However it is quite clear even to the inexperience eye the Xperia has post processed away the score marks on the board, the translucency and texture of the baking paper and wood grain plus the focus is very shallow. Even the top cake slice cut lines look smudged by comparison

As I said maybe you focused on the colour and missed the other points in this example and is not truly representative of your findings

I have absolutely nothing to say in response to this. Other than lol. Sorry if I was saying nasty things about your beloved Samsung. I know it hurts you and another member dearly. And with that, I am out of here. What the hell has happened to this sub forum. It's become just like the Apple one over the years. You can't say anything at all without someone taking offense like a school child.

Enjoy your Samsung's and heaven forbid anyone says anything negative. I def won't miss your posts that's for sure.

Yeah get that totally, going from fold to a normal phone as my daily would be very tough.

i may sell my note ultra as it is too similar to my fold....if i was to have a 2nd phone it would need to be a different OS so i may get the cheaper iphone...while android is a lot better in many areas iOS is still damn good for certain things.

this may sound stupid but i have a lot of twitter notifications for people i follow so for sport news/games and live updates i use twitter a lot on my apple devices where i get unlimited notifications so for that alone i would use daily on an iphone.

will see what the apple event brings....bigger question is can an Apple Watch and galaxy watch be justified? Likely not.

I use my iPad Pro as a second phone, so to speak. Since it is cellular I take it with me everywhere.... so, I'm always connected. It handles email and since most of my family/friends use iMessage... it handles that. Reason, I prefer email on iOS/iPadOS compared to Android... I trust the background activity. As in, for some reason... it's not battery hungry. Over the years... porting over email to Android has cause battery drainage (for me).

I'm just waiting for a case at this point. And, I don't know how exactly I'm going to get what I want... because a bumper case seems far fetched. I had it with my Note10+.

But SteveJUAE is right though. The detail is better on the Fold 2 photo, even the crumbs on the board look more detailed. It's that obvious.

Yeah, I agree with the assertion that if you do have two phones one should be android and other iOS especially if you are in both ecosystems like myself and so you wont get bored by having the same OS's on both phones. Its always something that works well with one but not the other at times (more so with iOS of course; you are just limited at times with iOS) but I can live without a iPhone but will always need a android phone. I for now will keep one line android and one line iPhone.

Just saw the Sammobile article about increased trade in prices for the UK. £740 for my note 10 would bring the phone down to £1k.

Went to the website to order but the increased trade in prices disappeared. (Possibly a pricing error or limited time offer?)

This phone keeps teasing me.
