Just saw the Sammobile article about increased trade in prices for the UK. £740 for my note 10 would bring the phone down to £1k.

Went to the website to order but the increased trade in prices disappeared. (Possibly a pricing error or limited time offer?)

This phone keeps teasing me.
Wonder why it disappeared

In a Reddit forum... there’s plenty people that have ordered the phone and haven’t gotten it. And some members called Samsung asking to be credit, some was successful at it while others wasn’t. Perhaps, that’s part of the reason.

i thought samsung had solved their distribution problems ? initially people who didn't get it after pre ordering got a 50 quid voucher and free live buds i thought they were all caught up with stock now.

Camera wise it's basically as good as the S20. Just with less zoom

I think for most people the cameras are good and the cameras are very good just not top of the line. Note ultra has better camera features which I'm sure will come to fold soon enough

Generally though all the top cameras there's not much difference and the only people who truly know the difference will be professional photographers or those who take alot of photos who work in media

Only downside on the fold 2 is no periscope lens on the zoom. One area which should be the same for 2k

However with how good cameras are these days I don't think camera should be any deal breaker

I haven't been particularly happy with the camera, it's not terrible but you have to have just the right factors to get great pictures. The low light performance isn't anywhere as good as my 11 max pro, I'm seeing a ton of graininess in my low light pictures. Couple this with my kids who move around a lot and their pictures just aren't coming out that good. A bit of a bummer as I feel the 11 pro max and the pixel 3xl I had finally had reached the point where I didn't have to worry about fiddling with settings anymore and could truly point and shoot.

It's not a deal breaker for sure, but it's a step backwards for me, but I still accept it because the phone is such an amazing device. I will just make sure to bring another camera for important events.

Sorry, but those two pictures I took speak for themselves. I didn't go hunting for differences, I literally took the picture and saw it looked like someone had applied a yellow filter to my photo.
I then took with the other phone in my pocket and got that result.

It's nothing to do with getting caught up with camera quality. You keep saying there's no difference in the top phones and that simply isn't true. If it was, people wouldn't still be buying pixels for their cameras and settling for inferior settings elsewhere Vs a Samsung device. It does matter and it should matter.

Also, these blind tests you refer to are also a bit of a reach. A lot of the time the shots being taken are of landscapes, outdoor still shots or dogs that are sat nicely. Of course all photos are going to come out well in those scenarios. They need taking with a massive pinch of salt.

Yep, I'd like to see those tests with pictures of anxious parents quickly pulling out their phones to take pictures of their sugar riddled kids in low light.

Yeah it's not the best camera but it's still good. My note ultra is still the go to camera for most areas. Note for me is the most complete camera you can buy right now but most won't carry around two phones at this price point I must admit

Think all depends on ones needs I guess... Think fold 2 camera will still be good for most people.. I'm sure they will improve it more next year for sure.

When it becomes their true flagship line that's when will get the best cameras

Obviously, it's going to improve next year. But I don't think it's going to be better than the Ultra lineup... just the way Samsung has set up pricing for the Galaxy Fold. When @Aneres11 brought up photo inconsistency made me research the specs between the Ultra (S20 and Note20) lineup and Z Fold 2. Even though they were speaking more about the post processing of Samsung, I just feel that Samsung will always be more conscious on how much it fits camera specs toward the Z Fold 2.

Stay with me, but when looking at the 3 camera rear set up... I've said it before, it's really no better than the Note10+. Something, that seems odd. But when comparing the two.. they are practically the same. And, most would ignore it since Samsung has provided superb hardware with the Z Fold 2. But when looking at the spec sheet, there's so much incredible technology with folding 7.6" display, 120hz, 2 front cameras and additional 6.2" display.. things you already know.

So, in order to balanced their phone lineup... Z Fold 2 has to be sacrificed to some extent. Meaning, some areas Samsung have to hold back and I believe going forward... the camera will always be inferior to the Ultra lineup.

From what leakers say it will only be inferior until 2022..fold 3 may get the note ultra set up with 5x periscope lens and 8k.

Will see if it happens but seems like fold will be their main flagship from 2022..will see though

Seems Samsung really want to push foldables. With 3 foldables rumoured for 2021 and upgraded z flip as well

Sounds cool to me! I'm definitely on board with foldables! With my iPad by my side.. of course. However, if Apple release a foldable display... with iPhone as the front display then opening up the inner display to be met with iPadOS, that'll be the game changer!

But I think Apple will be more focused on the glass wearable with AR.

A periscope lens is almost a sure thing for the Fold 3.

I highly doubt we will see an S-Pen for the Fold anytime soon. I can't imagine putting pressure on the screen, especially at the the middle, with a fine tip S-Pen.

Any recommendations for a gesture remapper app? I'd like to remap swipe down to open Finder as I find it's much more similar to iOS Spotlight than the app drawer is. I'm not seeing any way in settings to remap gestures.

Perhaps.. I'm not understanding the question. But doesn't swipe down open Finder? With Android.. Both Finder & App Drawer is combined. As for me.. I have swipe down to open Notifications , but in order to switch that off you have to through the HomeScreen Settings.

I get what your saying but I think it's more simple than that :)

They placed a $2k ceiling on the sticker price and something had to give and it was the camera and the SD card assuming the space was their for the periscope lens

If it was maxed out spec wise it would of added $200 more, as we all know 5G sticks a $100 or more to the price and I assume they preferred that over the N20 Ultra camera set up etc

I think it's simple costing over some perceived lineup of spec's across the range :)

They just started shipping here... my only gripe so far the edge panel doesn’t trigger on outside screen because of the case lip.. both brands same results.

Interesting. Had my Fold for about a week.. haven't even tried the edge panel on the outside display. I try to limit as much interaction on the outside display. However, I do find it odd Samsung has prohibited us from adding 3rd party edge panels.

I agree now we are unable to add to the edge WTH... I'm not going to use the panel while on outside display... added a few more icons to apps I use often and all good

Hey, just figured out how to get app continuity back. Simply add the qualification that lawnchair or whichever app your using for the home screen be open to the unfolded action. So the qualifications are "if unfolded and lawnchair open, then open nova".

Trying out lawnchair right now for the outside screen, and while I like it better than shade, there is always a delay when I unlock the phone in folded mode while shade was instant. Are you getting that delay too?

Edit: Just added "nova open" to the qualifiers of opening lawnchair when closed and now it automatically switches to lawnchair when hitting the home button when closed, just a slight delay as it first shows nova before opening lawnchair. Getting really close to having it work the way I want it to.
