Bluebubbles is similar to airmessage but supports tapbacks, typing status, stuff like that.

Does BlueBubbles support two-column layout like this?

AirMessage does this for the web, but not for tablets (7+ inch devices).

I just went through the install process, it's not too complicated but rather involved setting up a server through Firebase. It still doesn't work so I'll have to tinker around with it at home. Some of the stuff such as the permissions and private api makes me wonder about security though. But if it pans out then it will be very exciting.

Do you know if it allows you to send full size videos/pictures from an Android phone to an iPhone, and I suppose vice versa?

Yes, here's a screen shot if mine (I'm in redacted mode so you won't see real content and photos)

Any compression that happens is on the mac side, BB doesn't compress the attachments to my knowledge. I'd run any questions you have about security by the developers. They're super responsive.

I've been playing around with this and it's fabulous. It's a bit hamstrung in that they only fully support Big Sur (although even that's not fully supported), but I have to use Monterey for work, so no attachments for me. But it's a small dev team so kudos to them. This is something I'd easily pay a small monthly fee for, so I hope they keep building it out. The other caveat, and it's a big one, is the private API features (typing indicators, reactions, replies, tapbacks, etc) are only accessible if you disable System Integrity Protection. 3rd caveat is you can't let your computer go to sleep, so not good for laptops that travel, but I suppose you can get a cheapie old computer or use a VM as a server.

Has anyone tried to set this up on the CloudVM?

I have a hackintosh that I pretty much exclusively use for this, so it works really well. Could you potentially put big sur on a VM inside Monterey?

I'm not sure, from what I understand a Hackintosh should work. I actually have an ancient 2013 macbook air that I think I'm going to use as a server so I don't put my Macbook Pro at risk.

PSA: For those who like navigating around their Fold with a mouse... the MX Master 3 is incredibly awesome! I've had it for at least a month now. I alternate using it with Windows and the Fold, but I can navigate around Android using multiple buttons of the MX Master 3. Going into App Switcher, Going Back to Previous and browsing the web.

I initially starting using the Microsoft Arc Mouse, but the scrolling wasn't all that smooth. Decided on purchasing the MX M3... I highly recommend it.

Checking in to see how the better half is living. I MISS my Fold so much, bleh. Had to go back to an iPhone for personal and work reasons, 13 pro max. I ordered an ipad mini 6, but cancelled it as I was feeling a bit ripped off with the lack of 120hz, the memory price gouging as well as the increased cost for a cellular one, and of course the difficulty of carrying it around. I may just see if I can find a lightly used one on Swappa to use as a "tablet." Anyone else double carry an iPhone and a Fold?

Got to admit I do miss the fold, amazing piece of tech. Would love to have it as my mini tablet for on the go. I see it as a tablet to be fair and I love the tech that comes with it.

As a techy I do feel a foldable should be in my life ha

Samsung had a much better deal during their BF Event. They were offering the Z3 with a free pair of Galaxy Buds 2 for $499 with trade in. Pretty much every phone listed had a $350 trade in price.

It’s a similar deal they offered with the Galaxy Tab S7 Plus 256GB I scored with a free pair of Buds 2 for $379.

It's good to see some good deals though. I mean with no trading. I like this one. It's probably the lowest one I've seen with a pair of buds and not having a phone to trade in which sometimes peeps don't have. But yeah you can't beat some of the other deals past and floating around...

$999 plus free Buds 2 from Best Buy with activation (new line OR upgrade) on any carrier for the unlocked model sealed the deal for me. Especially since I was able to finance it over 24 months with my BBY card.

Exactly that's a slam dunk right there interest free on the BBY card. You can't beat it. Congratulations!

Well, I have my Spigen thin fit p case and it's great. Contrary to some others, I don't find it hinders the power button, at all. It's great having the s pen always with my fold. Also, the matte back keeps away fingerprints.

Not a fan of cases… disguises the design of a device, my thought process is…. designers/engineers took hours to have this in our hands why cover it up with a case. But that’s me, I understand cases help for protection.

My setup is a sleeve, JBL Club Pro+ (they recently updated these to Tour Pro+) and my Galaxy Watch 4. I picked up these JBLs about 3 or 4 months ago (sound is amazing)… found them on sale, probably because it was being updated. But I like the fact they have Google Assistant support… given that GW4 doesn’t have it yet. I can use the JBLs for Google and it reads notifications that comes in as well.

And with the sleeve on my Fold… I tend to rely on my GW4 to be a remote control for audio or to interact with notifications.

I think cases are needed for most part but the one device where i feel cases are simply not great is on the foldable devices. I get why it’s needed due to the cost of the device but due to the weight and the bulk cases certainly make it even harder to handle.

During my time with the Fold 3, I found a majority of the cases were still awful. Either felt cheap, address too much bulk to an already huge phone, or just didn't adhere to the phone well. The one case I did love was the Samsung silicone case. Felt great, added protection, added little bulk, and didn't wiggle around like the other ones. If anyone is still looking for a good case, I can't recommend that one enough.

Like I said, it's great having my s pen always with my Fold. My thin p fit is not that bulky. And, even though I don't baby my Fold, I do take good care of it, hence the case.

Also, not one of you criticizing fold cases has the fold 3.

Yep always have a case on my Fold 1, 2 and now 3 with the Samsung SPen silo is great as it detaches and the flip case makes it easier to hold not harder as some imply

My wife's Flip 3 has the Samsung Silicone case which is very tactile and she prefers it over her clear hard case of her Flip 1

We all have our preferences… but when I started looking for ways to protect my Fold 2. I initially thought I didn’t want to add bulk to it and a skin seemed like a more logical idea. Until I stumbled upon sleeves… searched through Kindle sleeves to find one that can fit my Fold.

No shade to you or @rhinosrcool who go with cases… as I mention it’s all about preferences and to add, I didn’t upgrade to the Fold 3 for S-Pen support (which a case is suitable for it).

Went the entire time with the Fold 2 and 3 naked with no issues. I tried the S-pen case with the Fold 3, but it sucks when it's opened cause the flap sticks out. Other 3rd party cases look more usable, but they all look ugly af. No scratches or micro scratches from not having a case. And because of it's bulk and the way it rests on my pinky, it's much harder to accidentally drop. I also carry a 11 Pro Max which I've dropped it plenty times.

Funny I find the edge of the case that protrudes out (by same width of the hinge) a great feature as its a perfect resting place for my thumb (side on ) and my fore fingers extend to rear and grip the silo for a secure hold

Used the same grip on all my 3 Folds and it helps to limit any silly accidental touches
