Screen protectors and cases take away from the experience.
How so?

My screen has an extra protection, my case offers a more holdable experience, and (hopefully) project it against drops.

I'm not knocking caseless use, but there are consequences to ones actions, and caseless use can certainly cause excessive wear and tear.

Screen protectors and cases take away from the experience.

Personal opinion and choice.

My case makes it nicer and easier to hold my X, and my tempered glass screen protector actually feels very smooth and responsive. Plus I can replace the screen protector every few months so it is like new all over again - no scratches, new oleophobic coating, etc. Both should add some protection of course, too.

Enjoying the experience just fine :D

I've never scratched the display of an iPhone in 10 years, I'm sure this will be no different.
Screen protectors are for suckers.

Have seen zero scratches on the screen. Also the oleophobic coating seems to be much better than on my older iPhones.

Agreed 100% The coating is WAY better!!!!!!! and I have Zero scratches putting phone in jeans pocket everyday since launch...

Don’t look for micro scratches that are only visible under bright light. Put a screen protector if this is concerning you. I used to care about these sort of things but since joining IUP with Apple Care I stopped caring. Why should I? I don’t need to sell the phone after a year and is essentially a lease. I love having a naked phone!!!

I’d bet the bank on your leather wallet as the culprit.

You have no idea how that leather wallet was tanned or processed. There could be tiny particles of silica or other industrial grit embedded in it. Some tanning processes use metal based chemicals. Sometimes leather is buffed with a variety of compounds which could have abrasives. If it was ever dropped on a street or a dirty floor, even before you bought it, it absolutely could have picked up fine abrasives that became embedded in the grain.

And leather is tough. Back in the day (and maybe still), barbers used to sharpen their straight razors on a leather “strop”...a piece of cowhide or horsehide stretched tight that was used to give a steel blade the sharpest possible edge. If it can hone steel, leather can put some micro abrasions in glass.

You are absolutely correct, leather can have all of the qualities your saying, it's also more abrasive when new. Leather for wallets, belts and shoes are the most processed of all. I hate screen protectors, and never use. My iPhone only goes into an empty pocket, just sold a iP6s some very minor micro scratches after 2 yrs.

I've had my iPhone for 6 days now, and it's been in a case the entire time. I just looked down at the screen and it already has a scratch on it. I'm baffled.
I've always had an iPhone, going back to the first one 10 years ago. I haven't dropped it, and it stays in my pocket alone. No keys, nothing else in that pocket. Yet it has a scratch on the screen already. How did this happen? I'm wondering if anyone else is finding their iPhone X screen being prone to scratches.
same babying it scratches all over

This being my first iPhone in 5 years or so, I have to say it's embarrassing how easily the screen scratches. No wonder the threads regarding screen covers is so huge. I haven't had a screen cover on a phone in forever but I may have to get one now. I expected better from Apple considering their build quality has always been excellent.
same scratches so easily

I took off my Nuglas the other night to replace it with the Spigen glas.tR and OMFG there is a micro scratch across the front glass – It couldn't be cleaned or rubbed out so it's definitely a scratch.

I never had the glass open to scratches except the first day when I was playing with it at work before putting a protector on, and in between putting protectors on.

Yes. Apple product screens scratch very easily, it's one of the few remaining issues with build quality. I need those sapphire displays they planned for the iPhone 6 (which never happened).

iPhones feature dual-ionized glass, not Gorilla Glass which performs better against scratches. Now the iPhone's screen is capable of getting micro scratches that are easily visible under direct light, but it's well protected against deep scratches.
[doublepost=1510784797][/doublepost]That’s nonsense mine is full of deep scratches do you have an iPhone X? if you don’t why are you defending it?

i use liquid glaz on my iphone. its like a sealent for cars and works perfectly for me. have my iphone since release date and no micro scratches. the liquid glaz protector is invisible and looks like you dont have anything on your screen.

How is that stuff? Never heard of it until I read your post. Any concern of it eating away the oleophobic coating or anything? Do you have to reapply it every so often?

EDIT: Doesn't look like they ship to the US :/ (Dutch company)

This showed up on wife’s X 4 days after unboxing. Not a mark on the 7. I’m convinced a coating was changed/missed

Mine is being treated exactly like my 7 was, along with the 6S and 6 before, and all the other phones.

Those other phones get put through a lot. My 7 has been around the world with me, including in sandy pockets on the beach and in the water and everything else. They do show some signs of wear, but their screens are absolutely pristine.

My X has never been anywhere but my pocket, my hand, my work desk, and my home desk and bed. My X has several of little micro scratches along the lower section of the screen and now has several bigger scratches on the screen as well. I'm talking scratches that can catch your fingernail. Freshly washed jeans (And yes pockets washed inside out), my desk isn't full of diamonds, hunks of metal or glass, etc.

There's something off with at least some of these screens.
