Maybe you need to stick to the non-Alternatives subforums if it upsets you so much.

It's not just confined to alternatives sub forum. Plus this thread was posted on the front page (click bait no doubt). Every thread these days seems to turn into an Apple/Samsung pissing match. No better these stupid sites like Engadget. There's plenty of places to go to fanboy/girl Samsung. Why is it necessary to also do it on an Apple fan site?

If you hate it so much, why do you go to the effort to entering the Alternative subforum and posting in a Samsung thread? Clearly you just want to confront Samsung supporters instead of just ignoring them as you should.

I wonder when they're going to change the name of this site to SamsungFans.com. I've never seen so many Samsung defenders on an Apple fan site

A lot of us either had or still have an apple device Brah. Just because we decide the s3 is better doesn't mean we should get exiled...I've got an ipad3 and gave up my 4s for the s3. So how do you like me now?

But you see, Apple would have never ran an ad like this... Furthermore, even if they ran a similar "comparison ad" like the mac vs pc ads, they wouldn't bring up trivial features as a competitive advantage. About the only two samsung features that I think are "decent" and that I would like to have on the iPhone are NFC and SmartStay. There are many more features that make iOS and iPhone better or more appealing in my opinion that Samsung cleverly managed to leave out.

However, I'm not that upset about not having NFC due to passbook and the fact that theft over NFC is becoming increasingly common and a more serious threat.

If you look at mac vs pc ads, some highlighted how they were better then windows (such as not getting viruses, etc). But the majority of the ads focused on how they aimed at different things. With them even recognizing that windows pc is "good for businesses with math and numbers" but mac is great for personal with more creative apps and higher reliability.

Is Apple a perfect company? Of course not, but I believe they have such a massive and loyal following for the same reason Mercedes-Benz makes great vehicles and keeps shattering sales records with some of the most loyal customers.

Mercedes vehicles aren't always the fastest, nor do they have the latest technology or the best value. However, they are great at innovating (safety features, heck, creation of the automobile) and the overall package they provide is very refined, controlled and not to mention, luxurious/premium.

Coming from iPhone for the last 3.5 yrs, I think they are just sliding a bit as far as innovation is concerned. I think up until now they have always had that one or two things on their phones that set them apart. Siri, Facetime, great camera etc... I think the "it just works" slogan is a bit dated now as well.

I went to the S3 for a few reasons.
1. Bigger screen with a great display
2. Expandable space. I can get upt to 96 gig with sd card
3. Having extra batteries.(My 4S battery life sucked)
4. Being able to access directory and customize phone
5. So much software out there! I like the ability to choose.
6. Got bored with iOS.

Granted I think the next iPhone is nice but just not a big enough leap in the last 3 years.

The Mercedes analogy may hold some weight but I think the better one may be McDonald's. I am loyal to my iMac and iPad. I have AppleTV and all that too. It seems to be that for the most part the iPhone is the trendy phone to have. As for the McDonald's analogy it seems that they sell the most hamburgers but certainly don't make the best. I wouldn't measure how good the phone is just by the volume sold.

I took the blinders off and gave android a try and I like it for now. If Apple makes a more innovative phone I would certainly go back. But I'm not going to keep an iPhone just because its an iPhone.

Also I switched from ATT to VZW. The no data and voice would have been a deal breaker anyway on that phone.

It seems that they are waiting a little too long for some things on their phone. NFC will probably be on the next one, but they should have had LTE on last years!

If they made it 720p and allowed pretty love wallpapers and widgets ( neither have had any significant impact on my phones) then I'd go for it.

There is a huge difference, whatever phone you chose after the 'war', it will be a good one. And if not you aren't stuck for 4 years with it. Whereas.......

Just saw your reply, and wholeheartedly agree. Nice one sir.

----------

On the PC side vendor included software is often referred to as bloat, and usually the first thing people do is to uninstall it. I wonder if that is possible in this case.

You can debloat an SIII with root, otherwise no. Only Nexus phones come with minimal bloatware. (that I'm aware of at this time)

----------

I think Apple are the ones who are scared given the lawsuits and them trying to block Samsung phones. I don't see Apple going after HTC or Motorola. Its Samsung who poses a huge threat and Apple knows it.

Apple didn't make the laws, they're just using them to their advantage. The same anyone would, and does, regardless of how much airtime they're given. Not to mention, $700 a share. I hardly think they're shaking. Samsung is also a partner, just because they're "at war" with the device segment means nothing. Besides, what better marketing campaign for both parties than to polarize the public into two distinct fanboy communities. They're probably trading stories while rolling around naked with jello and hundred dollar bills at a SamApple after party.

Is there an "off" switch for these pointless rants?
I hope MR makes tons of money on adds from all this nonsense whistling against the wind.

Yes, and your comment was beneficial in what way exactly?

...Whoops, look what happened - I just broke your metaphorical mirror that was just about to face mine.

In other words, this reply could start an infinite amount of replies, so we'll just stop now and hope to God that we don't end up in the Palace of Versailles.

Well to play devil's advocate ...... The iPhone has been mentioned a lot on every single phone forum and blog on the Internet. And rightfully so since it's an amazing piece of hardware with a great OS.

Now that so many consider the top of the line Android phones to match the iPhone, expect to hear some Android phones being compared to everything under the sun just as the iPhone has been since 2007.

The GS3 is a amazing device and the best competition the iPhone has ever seen.
It's arguably equal to or better. So of course you are going to hear plenty about it.

Yeah and if I chose to go to CNet, the Verge, Engadget, etc. then I expect hear about it all over their sites. It's not what I expect on an Apple centric site. I swear its like Samsung is astroturfing Apple sites or something. :D

I don't get what the big deal is? If your on an apple site does that mean your not allowed to talk or use any other branded devices?

What's wrong with bringing up pros and cons of both apple and non apple device features?

As long as people aren't being jerks about there's nothing wrong with good banter.

Sorry but being and :apple: fan shouldn't = being an :apple: slave.

I'm not even going to get into how they ruined the nano by making it too big lol. All they had to do was add bluetooth to the curent design it would have been my crossfit timer, tunes and watch. Oh well I think Sony makes something like that lol.

That would be sweet if there was cross platform iMessage built right into texting.

I really believe that iOS 7 will be the start of a new looking iOS. There isn't a whole lot more they can do with ios without changing some things around so I think it will be gradual but we will start to see some new fresh features in ios. Like instead of five rows of icons, use one row for some type of widget.

It is sweet and I don't think I've ever evvvveerr said anything good about Rogers (my provider in Canada) but it exists for me anyway. They are still sms messages but I can sent them on my computer. :D Also has a combined inbox that you can use or not use. This was the one blackberry feature I really liked. no matter what kind of message you got on the bb you had a "messages" in box that would show you what was newest and unread.

I've read about some glitches in the review getting the iphone contacts roger one number app to work properly and apparently it can do some squirrely things to them as well so you might just want to create them manually on the rogers one site for any of you rogers users thinking of using it. Even if you still use imessage with your iphone contacts its good for using with none iphone users.

Oh and its still your regular cell phone number not a separate number like google voice.

Do any other providers have something like this?

Clearly, Samsung is worried about iPhone 5.

I don't care what phone people use, if it works for them? Great.

I do find it irritating when Android lovers pull the "people who buy iPhones buy them because they're trendy" and "they aren't tech-savvy enough to use Android" crap.

Puh-leeze.

I've been iPhone all the way since June 2007, updated every year, and ran mine jailbroken back when JB wasn't the least complex task to perform.

I just like iOS. I like iPhone. It does what I need.

I've never been compelled to jump ship. iPhone isn't "trendy" to me. Nor is my phone a fashion statement. I don't walk around hoping someone will notice my phone. It's my phone.

I liked talking about the first iPhone because it was such a groundbreaking device. There were no subsidies. Not everyone felt like they could justify owning one. So, people were curious. My first iPhone got passed around like a baby at a family reunion. :D

By the 3G and carrier subsidies, I was ready for people to stop pawing my phone and get their own. ;)

The majority of the griping on here seems to come from people who adopted later and expected a magical world of radical, flashy changes every year. So, they get bored and hop back and forth.

If that's what they want, I see why they switch.

Lots of us have watched iPhone evolve for 5 years now. We see the advances.

Those who adopted early but have started trying out other phones in the past couple of years also see the evolution of the iPhone. They carry other phones, but they're not here attempting to pit one device against the other.

Samsung has its place.

Just not in my pocket.

Sung it again Sam!!!

It appears Sam(sung) is singing the blues again... Too bad no one reads the newspaper anymore. And ads trying to put down the competition really remind folks of the political ads which quickly get turned off or tuned out.

So much for the good old days when people enjoyed the 'Sam playing it again' on piano...

So Samsung...Please DON'T play it again and please don'y sing (sung) it again Sam... You have 'Sung' it before and it did't work last time...:rolleyes::D

Its not good banter though. It's just fanboy trolling. Or Android fans calling you sheep who drink the kool-aid for buying a phone with a puny display and "crippled" operating system.

Yeah that's stupid, it's stupid when iPhone users say Android users can't afford iPhones too. My S3 cost £500- the same price as a sim free iPhone.

Reminds me of a quote :

"Don't assume; it makes an ass out of u and me! "

No, its you coming into a subforum that is strictly talking about alternatives and then you telling us that we should shut up about them and go away...when you're the one that came to our separate area.

o_O You do realise that 48% of phones sold are now Samsung *facepalm*

So? Apple and the iPhone 5 are the ones currently in the limelight. Samsung? What Samsung? At the moment, they have completely fallen off people's radar and they are desperate to retake the limelight in an attempt to dampen Apple's sales and increase their own.

Oh and Putting an iPhone is there advert is COMPLETELY legal, actually it's stupid. Samsung are being arrogant and in doing so giving Apple free Advertising.

But you are right in that it's in a way free publicity for Apple's new phone - can't really attack your competitor without naming them; note that this is not legal in all countries hence in some "foreign" advertisements you see them mention "Brand X". Not that Apple really needs it. Does anyone NOT know that a new iPhone is coming out?

Oh okay :p yeah but it is true everyone knows what the iPhone 5 is, but it does show arrogance and some people may be swayed away from sgs3 because of it. And yeah Apple is in the spotlight at the moment. I was wrong :) I didn't know that in some countries it is illegal. 'No free advertising or we will sue!' Sorta weird though.

Your move Samsung. :D

iPhone 5 smashes Carphone Warehouse pre-order record

Apple's latest iPhone has become the most pre-ordered handset in the history of UK retailer The Carphone Warehouse.

Yesterday, Apple announced that the iPhone 5 shifted 2 million units in just 24 hours after pre-orders began on September 14. This surpassed the previous record of 1m units set by its predecessor, the iPhone 4S.

The Carphone Warehouse has now announced that it too experienced record demand for the iPhone 5 after starting advanced orders last Friday.

The UK's largest independent mobile retailer said that it has taken four times as many pre-orders for the new Apple smartphone as any other handset since it started trading in 1989.

Graham Stapleton, the chief commercial officer at Carphone Warehouse, said that demand for the iPhone 5 has "smashed all previous handset launches" at the retailer.

He noted that the iPhone 5 launch last week also helped Carphone Warehouse online have its most successful ever week, including traffic increasing 63% on the previous seven days.

"Perhaps surprisingly, over half of the traffic on the evening of the announcement [on September 12] came via our mobile website with mobile data up nearly 200% week-on-week," he said.

iPhone 5 smashes Carphone Warehouse pre-order record

QUOTE]

I think most of us who have decide to take a break from the iphone and try the SG3 aren't saying the iPhone won't sell and won't be dominant. Nor am I or most of us that want to try android and the SG3 calling the iphone a bad phone or platform or I wouldn't have bought every model other then the 4S and used an iPhone the past 7 years.

Its a great phone, I think its a bit more intuitive and easy to use than Android (In a good way!), has built a solid and simple more secure eco system (icloud itunes), really does everything that most people really require from a smart phone, no fregmentation, and without touching the 5 I'm still pretty certain it will have the most upscale and premium build quality.

Andriod gives you more customization which a lot of people don't care about but some people like it, its more open, can drag and drop files, can play more media types, has some cool features the current iphone/ios doesn't doesn't and has more brand and handset choices as well as screen size choices.

Both are very strong phones with differences that are going to appeal to different people. I think the iphone gets a slight edge in being better for the mass because of how intuitive its is. That helps it appeal to a larger group of users especially those in an apple ecosystem. That's not to say iphone users are dumb or too dumb to use Android they just don't need or desire all the features that Android has (really no one NEEDS them and lets be honest some are gimicky tilt to zoom anyone?) But some of us geeks have gotten bored of the iphone or just want to try something new so what's wrong giving Android and SG 3 a whirl?

Still a huge apple fan love my macbook.

Choice and competition are great for us boys and girls. It makes all the smartphone makers work harder and make better products for us consumers!:D
