ordered a TMO 64gb Silver XS Max from Apple on 9/14 around 10:30PM EST. got the 9/28 - 10/5 window.

Order in progress on Apple.com. along with this message: "This item will take longer than usual to ship. As soon as it’s ready, we’ll send you an update and prepare the shipment."

Is anyone else seeing this message too?

It seems weird that none of us are seeing a shipping label created yet. Hopefully when we finally do, the package will already have made several moves. Maybe it’s just a UPS hiccup. I typically see a shipping label created before Apple updates the status to PFS.

UPS’s website has been messed up today and many with tracking numbers aren’t seeing updates you would expect. I’m hoping the same thing you are!

I ordered in the morning. There must have been a strong initial burst and then an immediate tapering off.

Oh no. Mine says preparing to ship.

It’s supposed to be 9/28-10/5. That doesn’t show as changed. Which is promising.

Don’t get me wrong, I would have loved to get it on launch day. But we meant to pick our phones up at the store. Not have them delivered. I’ve got places to be. It would be fine if UPS delivers early in the day, but I’m at the end of their route. My husband made a mistake placing my order. He got the wrong model which in turn resulted in the wrong method of delivery.

I hate 3:00 am preorder. East coast stinks. Lol, though we actually ordered a little before 5:00 am. Neither one of us was terribly awake.

It will not move off this status until tomorrow at the earliest. Even those who went to this status on Sunday and have a tracking number by tracking by reference are still showing it.

Dang thats slow. If they had similar delivery date as ours that'd make sense.
But if they had launch day delivery and still can't track it on UPS, well either their dates will be pushed or our phones show up early.
At this point I'm only hoping for a Monday - Wednesday delivery.

Ordered one hour after preorder.
Mine says preparing to ship already got charged on my credit card

Apple never changes the status to shipped until it is a day away for new product launches. Like my Apple Watch S4 has already departed China per UPS but the status on apple.com is still preparing to ship. I’m sure tomorrow afternoon it will change to shipped and I’ll receive a shipped email.

My wife's Gold 512 Xs Max is preparing to ship. Mine still says processing. :/ Oh well. I do think we'll be waiting till next week or longer.
