Those that get to over 40hrs amazing I got to 34 hrs on a Series 6 GPS cellular with 8% left. I do one run per day. Send one or two iMessages. Scroll through different faces two to five times. No hand-washing reminders, Siri is on. AoD is off. Bold text not sure if that matters. Background refresh apps that are on are Activity, Blood Oxygen, ECG, Heart Rate, Wallet, Weather, Workout and Zones app. Not sure if I can go over 40hrs but that would be amazing.

Good result! Out of curiosity, what watch face are you using and any 3rd party non-Apple complications?

I forgot the OP made that claim. I think it is right to question that, as it seems impossible if the workout included GPS and heart rate monitoring, with everything turned on as well.

The OP seems like a good guy. I think he may have made an honest mistake and got his days / hour count wrong.

Haha thank you. I believe what explains it is that my all my workouts were indoors, so the HR sensor would be active but the watch likely doesn’t turn the GPS on (or is using the iPhone GPS).

This is an important clarification so I’ve updated the first post :).

3hrs use, 35 standby.

S6 40mm. AOD and bar are on. I turn off bar on things like breath, photos and other stuff I rarely use but I keep it on for everything else.

I don’t have walkie talkie on at all. I use carrot complications. No measures taken to save battery and turn it into a Casio. I setup from new.

1 workout. 1 sleep track. Lots of o2 measures taken by demand and in background.

check messages, email in spark. Fall detection is on, sound measurements are off (no need for them). Wifi on.

brightness is set to min. Not to save battery, just like it that way.

Handoff, dictation, Siri all on. Hey Siri is on but raise is off (that just doesn’t work).

With 3 hours of use and 1 day of standby time you really aren’t using the watch very much in my opinion. For reference right now I’m at 4 hours 31 minutes usage in just over 10 hours. Again, just my opinion but 3 hours out of 24 is really light usage.

And having your brightness level all the way down has a very significant impact on battery life. I find it unusable that low but if it works for you then thats great. But its not a way to really measure the Series 6 improvement in battery life as most people won’t have their brightness down that low.

Can you post your results right now? I’d like to see what your usage is right now if you can post it.

So these are from September 28, 2020 2:12PM until tonight September 29, 2020 with a good battery estimate of tomorrow morning September 30, 2020 around 7 am. That is everything turned on with the Series 6 except blood oxygen when sleeping. All my normal complications and everything else more or less default. No particular exercise but I do usually walk about 30 minutes a day but rarely bother to measure it with the activity app. All with the iPhone nearby so no independent LTE or GPS.

All this talk about, "Series 6 Battery Life." You kids don't know how good you have it. When I was your age I had to go to the drugstore and buy batteries for my watch! ;)

Seriously. It sounds like most are enjoying the heck out of their watches and are happy with their battery life no matter how many or how few hours of usage. Viva La Apple Watch!!!

No it makes more sense now. You really aren’t using the watch at all which is leading to pretty stellar battery life. Every user is different but I would consider myself a somewhat moderate user and I’m at nearly 5 hours usage in 11 hours standby.

I went from S4 LTE to S6 GPS. What a difference (especially after upgrading to watchOS 7 killed the S4’s battery). I know the LTE probably has a lot to do with it. I’ve worn it all day, walking around the building at work, did a 7 mile run with GPS on, and still more than 50% full - which is great for me. With my LTE watches I would be around 25-30%. I don’t miss the LTE either.

If you had LTE on yes it would cause a huge hit on your battery.

Thanks! I’m trying to get to 40hrs but not there yet lol watch faces I’m using are Infograph, Infograph Modular, Chronograph Pro and GMT so far. The only 3rd party complications I use is Zones the rest all Apple ones.

On my new Nike Edition 44mm S6, I am getting about 41 hours from 100% to 0% after 2 full charge cycles. That's very comparable to my S4. Apple definitely did a great job with the power management in the S6. I do use it for sleep tracking at night and so have AOD on. Brightness is set to full 3/3. I do notice the screen brightness on the S6 is lower in general compared to my S4 and this can make the brightness a bit low in very dim lighting conditions.

This is a fantastic result! Better post a screenshot of your usage page... certain people in this thread may not believe your 41 hours 😄 (also good to have the data points)

Will do. I just found the thread so I figure I post. I'm a light user and didn't exercise with my new S6. I really only use it to tell time, check my email and to send some texts. I got my 41 hours after I finished setting up my watch and so wasn't playing with the apps. No manual SpO2 or EKG measurements and only automatic HR and SpO2 measurements during sleep tracking and throughout the day. I'm absolutely positive that battery life will go down the drain had I used it for BT music streaming or workouts.

My battery life was pretty abysmal (3.5% per hour vs about 2.4% per hour)after the first full charge but the battery calibration improved after the 2nd full charge.

It's absolutely doable. I got 41 hours after my 2nd full charge at home. But you have to use it lightly avoiding exercise/workouts, playing with apps, taking too many manual EKGs and pulse oximeter readings, etc. I have the Nike Edition and use the default Hybrid face with 4 gigantic numbers surrounded by 4 complications at the corners. I set it to the Black/Turquoise color theme. I had set it to the white theme and that seemed to drain the battery faster. But that could also be the battery calibrations being off. It does take a few charge cycles to get the best battery life based on my prior ownership of the S0 and S4.

So I went on a hike today with my GF. She has still waterminder installed. We started at 8:15 am. My Gf had theater mode on while we drove to the destination. My AoD was on. After 90 min I had 99 left , she 100%. After a 5:30h hike I had 53% battery left and my GF 66%. I have to say I rubbed workoutdoors and she the normal workout app. On the way up I checked every few minutes the downloaded map in workoutdoors if we were still on the trail. In that 5:30h I got about 10-25 messages (idk) and she had ok don’t disturb. She checked way less her AW just when I asked her about her battery percentage lol. We both had similar watch faces (I have the weather complication for the next hours).

I’m kinda happy I really checked often the watch and Apple claims 11h without gps or cellular. Without checkin every minutes I would have gotten around 12h or more. Like I said my GF had 66% after 5:30h (idk if her watch not calibrated)

on the drive home (2h with stop at the grocery) it drained from 53% to 46%. Kinda high but ok. Now at 7 pm 41 % left.

Because I found a old pic of my S5. Same setup , hiking and navigation through workoutdoors. 5:20h (vs 5:30 on S6) and was down to 52% vs 53% BUT I charged the S5 while we had a break. It was at least 20%! I have to say with the S5 it was a sunny day Vs a mix of sun, very cloudy , rain

LOL ok. I think it also needs to be noted that he says right below that "you have to use it lightly avoiding exercise/workouts, playing with apps, taking too many manual EKGs and pulse oximeter readings, etc." So basically don't use your watch.

And you can go on and on about how you get 40 hours of battery life with your watch. You have the same Series 6 as everyone else and if you use the watch regularly as most of us do then 40 hours is absolutely NOT achievable, and your usage you posted backs up exactly what I thought. You don't use the watch which leads to battery battery life. And that's totally fine, you do you, but please don't come in here and state that you do all of this and that on your watch when you clearly don't. 3 hours of usage in over 24 hours is very light and not what I would even call moderate usage.

Amazing tbh and a welcome surprise, on 92% after the last 5 hours of fiddling about on it .

Really impressed with the watch and it’s battery

Thank you for pointing out that we all have the same hardware. That is exactly the purpose of this thread, to compare how long the S6 lasts for different people (see title).

Based on your above comments, I am not sure if you are saying that "light" usage is what is leading to the outcomes (by the way, that was someone else and not me, but my usage is probably also light by your definition); or that I (or others) are just lying about how we use the watch. The former is fine, the latter is inappropriate.

In any case, we would all appreciate if you contributed to the results that are being shared. What kind of battery life are you getting with your S6?

I get the pretty much the same as I get with the S5, which is about 20 hours per day. But I have everything connected to it and workout 80-90 minutes per day. It lasts a full day for me and thats about it, which is fine as I don’t sleep in mine.

Nike S6 44 GPS , 1st full charge usage: Usage 6hrs 23min, Standby 1day 12 hours, 9% battery left.

Usage was typical with 2 Sleep sessions, Messaging, messing with watch faces, and a number of ECG, O2 and Breathing readings. AOD on and raise to wake off. Plus 2 indoor workouts totaling 131 mins.. will take it for a run when it stops raining.

So this time around I got 39 hrs with 5hrs and 33 mins usage which included one outdoor workout for 20 mins and one indoor run for 35 mins. Send a few iMessages, checked the weather a couple of times. I also noticed that Blood Oxygen measures once or twice a day so that is running in the background.

What is moderate usuage for you? I‘m probably a light user. Idk what exactly to do with the watch. Use it for:

- read messages
- set timer
- grocery list
- workout

Idk what else I should do with it.

Whatever you want.

Off top of my head, some of the other stuff I do regularly:
  • Control music/audio playback/volume on phone from watch - with phone sitting across room playing to a bluetooth speaker
  • Remote app to control AppleTV while prepping supper (no worries of ATV remote getting dirty)
  • Alarm clock
  • See who's calling without walking to the other room to grab my phone
  • Control Homekit lights & locks via Siri while my phone's inside or in my pocket
  • Easily see what/when my next work meeting is just by glancing at display
  • Check/adjust temperature of my smoker & food inside using FlameBoss controller app
  • Look at and check off grocery list stuff while in the store (Reminders app)
  • Various other phone-extension stuff that lessens the need to walk over to the phone or pull it out of a pocket.
