Need more drawings here. Would be even nicer to have this as a sticky! Can't wait to see more
Oh, I like it. Keep on it!Working on my first... it's not good at all, but it's start.

Thanks. I definitely enjoyed trying. It's like a two year old learning something for the first time. lol.
That is a pretty good first try!Working on my first... it's not good at all, but it's start.

Thank you for sharing your experience of drawing on the iPad with Procreate. I just bought a gently used iPad Pro 9.7" for 2 reasons:Thank you. Next time I work on something I'll try to capture a little video. I basically use the "Gel Pen" brush in Procreate, normally on the smallest brush size (1.0%). For larger background areas I'll use a larger brush.
I definitely use layers. It's the single most valuable asset to digital art. One tip I can give you if you're working in black and white, use the opacity tool (on the layer, not the brush) to control your values. In other words, draw in all black, then use the opacity tool to control your values. So I'll basically start from the darks first and work up from there.
The iPad Pro has been an amazing tool. I can simply zoom in so far on the specific section on working on. Not only that, I can erase when I mess up! Something I cannot do when cross-hatching with tradional pens. The 2nd Gen iPad Pro has much improved latency - I noticed it instantly.
This thread should serve as proof the first generation pros are great creative machines. The pre-June, 2017 artwork in this thread didn't get worse with the introduction of the new models.Thank you for sharing your experience of drawing on the iPad with Procreate. After reading your comment about latency in the 2nd generation iPad, I'm hoping I've not made a mistake by this purchase. Would you please elaborate a bit comparing the 2 iPads in your drawing/painting processes?
- to save money by buying it instead of replacing my failing Macbook Pro (I have an iMac also)
- because I like the idea that I can sketch with it (will be getting the pencil + Procreate soon)
I don’t think you made a mistake, the latency doesn’t really make much of a practical difference from what I’ve tried (my experience of the newer model is only in Apple stores), more of a visual/feel one you adjust for. In many situations my Wacom Cintiq has waaay more latency than the 9.7 iPad Pro, and that’s still great to use. The difference on the new ones is more to do with the crazy 2x screen refresh rate - unless you’re using giant complex brushes and canvas sizes or something the cpu/power difference isn’t going to do much.Thank you for sharing your experience of drawing on the iPad with Procreate. \yeah the new ones are nice but i cannt say they improved my drawing experience much. i could make exactly the same art on a gen 1 ipad pro. the difference while nice - does not improve the drawing experience fundamentally.
