UPDATE: I went to the Apple Store and see if I can exchange it, and the manager said it is within there “tolerance” and will not exchange the device, I did feel the other models and they all feel better then mine in the floor which is sad.
If its an online order, just initiate a return and just mail it back and they will process the return that way.

I don’t know where you are based but in the UK you can return a device for any reason within 14 days even if you have used the device. You can just say you don’t like it. Then buy it again and the process starts again. Buying and returning on-line makes this less stressful and ordering a couple of units at a time speeds up the weeding out process.

I got lucky this year with the first iPhone 15 Pro I purchased, the back is fitted in a uniform manner, the buttons all click and there are no scratches or assembly damage which is unusual for Foxconn as I normally have to go through a few units before I get one that’s acceptable.

Apple push perfection with their product renders and deifying of technology so I hold them to that standard.

Return the device.

That manager is a jerk unless corporate told them to say that. If so then Tim Cook is a jerk as the buck stops with him. Get rid of the phone while you can. You deserve better than this.

And let’s keep an eye on this response and in what context it is used. I have a feeling this was scripted by “higher ups” and not an off-the-cuff response by the manager.

If the manager said it is within tolerance than I’d accept that as it most likely is within an acceptable tolerance level. Luckily you are still within your return period so you can handle it that way. Good luck!

To Kinggi:

Only accept your own evaluation and what to do about it. You already felt what you thought about the whole thing. iPhones are expensive - return, return, return!

To add a cherry on top, make sure you return it via the manager that works there…

Thanks guys for your replies! I honestly was baffled that it was up to their “tolerance” and not mine because we spend slot of money on these devices, and the manager was just not even listening to my concern saying he can’t do anything, he wasn’t even the store manager, manager of Genius Bar.

I will be going another time tomorrow, if no luck, I will be going to another Apple Store.

I avoid the stores to stressful had this problem with the iPhone 8 both phones came with dust under screen took both phone back some wannabe manager came out and said let’s see it….
Couple minutes inspected the phone later she said iPhones are built like this within spec 😂told her just process the refund…..

picked up another NaTi 256 PM and it doesn’t have the issue. Feels so nice in hand now. Returned the phone I picked up on the launch day. I think the staff are trained to explain to the customer that the back glass sitting slightly lower to the frame is not an issue because the one who processed my return was saying it’s not a quality issue and was showing his 15 Pro is also having the same issue.
Since I was within the return period they just took the device back. It would be a headache if it is beyond the return period.
Since I returned the phone that I got on the launch day the trade in I did got canceled. Apple is mailing my trade in device back to me. I called Apple and asked for the trade in to proceed, phone staff tried to stop the mail back but couldn’t, they advised I need to take my device back to the Apple Store and the store will process the trade in money to the payment method of my original order. I specifically asked for the trade in money to be returned to the original payment method or they would just return the money in a gift card.

This is why I did a trade-in at the store during launch day. They already refunded my credit card with the trade-in amount, so now I can easily swap/return/exchange as-needed.

My Max is absolutely smooth and in perfect condition. My regular 15 Pro has very sharp and uncomfortable edges around the entire frame on the back. It also has terrible viewing angles compared to the Max with a lot of color shift from top to bottom when looking at it from any other angle than dead center. Unfortunately, the Max is just a slight bit too unwieldy for me so I'll have to stick with the flawed regular Pro and get it replaced soonish via AppleCare. Sucks.

I noticed I could feel it on my 15 Pro on the very first day. Strangely it’s only on bottom half of the sides. It is super smooth toward the top of the phone. At the Apple Store, the guy told me it felt normal to him, and I checked the display units which also felt the same. For such an expensive phone, I would prefer it to be uniformly smooth. But unfortunately, there is only a week left in the return period now and no stores near me have any in stock for replacements.

I have noticed that the titanium Blue 15 Pro (Max) models in the stores are almost always completely soft on the edges. Could it be because the natural titanium are particularly affected because the color alloy is missing here? That the frame is therefore exactly the millimeters "thicker" and closes the gap that lead to this edge?

All the 15 Pros are PVD coated, this is microns thick so will in my opinion have little to no effect on component (frame) dimensions. I would imagine the variation is similar for all colours and is to do with final assembly and the thickness of the sealant gasket and force applied during installation.

This is (surprisingly) the first year I have not had any fit and finish issues with an iPhone.

Whenever mine arrives today, I will check it for these issues. I ordered titanium blue. I think Apple tries get these iPhones mass produced so quickly for the first deployment that quality control might seem to be a little less quality just to get them out in time. I don’t know if it would be better to order a phone Several months after it gets announced or released that way the phones are manufactured slower and with more care. Just a thought…

I am in the exact same boat. There is just enough inconsistency around the edges of my phone that it's bothering me, but the clock is ticking to find another before my return window closes. My local Best Buy has the exact same phone, but I fear that it could have a simliar issue and then I'm paying a restocking fee if I have to return there.

Pick up my natural titanium 15 pro on Sunday and immediately noticed the sharper than expected edges. Could notice it on all sides, but was worse on the side that rested on my palm and bottom. Went back to the Apple store on Wednesday to ask about it and they said it was normal and a result of the easier to replace back. I touched a few in the store and the first one I picked up felt like a glorious pebble it was so smooth. A few others had a bit of a sharp edge, but didn't seem as bad as mine. Left and went back yesterday with box in hand to return it. This time they offered an exchange, but they were sold out so just ended up returning it. And this guy seemed almost confused by my issue. So if you are hoping for an exchange, I suppose it helps to go in with the intent to fully return.

Now to debate on whether I want to try again in a month or so.

15 PM NT here. My back edges are ok. I cant feel where the glass ends and the metal begins but it doesn't seem uncomfortable. The edges of the buttons, on the other hand, feel sharp to me. I haven't gone caseless since the first iPhone so I'm not sure if this is normal or not. Feels like they dig in if feeling for a button with my finger or thumb.

One just popped up near me today so I ordered it for pickup on Sunday (can’t make it out there today or tomorrow). Fingers crossed it’s better, and hopefully it will even fix my message search issue.

Not sure is it batch related, I pre order mine on 22nd and collection was today 29th September , as pre order date for my country is 22nd and official launch date was 29th sept. Before my collection I went and check out all of the demo units in the retailers shop. Surprisingly none of the pros have the rough / sharp edge as mention. ( I did not check the none pros ) It’s smooth transition all the way, and there is no micro damage the frame has consistent colour (natural ti for me ) and no dust in the lense as well.

Ngl the more I read all the reports and feedback. The more I think is batch issue, same for the overheating issue I guess.

Urgh… please stop with the ‘batch’ nonsense. It’s never a ‘batch’ thing. Just never. No matter how much you might want it to be.
