Terrible picture (sorry!) but I couldn’t wait until we decorated so before we start tomorrow I’ve unboxed it and set it up on our old desk!

The red is stunning. It’s not going to be against the wall, so when I walk in I will always be able to see it. :D.

Beautiful. And, I like the close juxtaposition of the available on-line office clothing!

That’s one ”hawt” looking piece of tech 👍, from the back that is…

Picked mine up from the Apple store this morning, and just now getting to get it set up. All the accessories weren’t out yet, and now it’s updating, but figured I’d throw my dull ole’ silver in the mix.

Not sure why my pics always post sideways, but it does make it look like I have a really special iMac that can do cool tricks. ;-p

My last iMac was a 21.5”, so the screen for me is absolutely huge and incredible!

WOW! I didn’t know you could wall-mount them that way!

Kidding. 😁

I was going to get blue ... then silver ... got green! Reminded me of the emerald city.

I really love the blue, and was super tempted. In the store I loved the yellow, and if the orange had the same color on the front, I would’ve likely been sold on that one.

I wound up settling for silver because I know it’ll never get “old.” And it matches my hair of late. ;-p

I know right? Mine has special skills!

I honestly can’t figure out why, when my photos are correctly positioned in my library, they turn sideways when I post on the boards.
Hmm, I am assuming from Photos you are using File menu > Export > Export Photo rather than choosing Export Unmodified Original

Pardon me ... but you are not "old"! No need for silver.

Different people get ”silver” or “gray” at different stages. I’ve known people in their forties getting gray. I started getting silver around 60. Some don’t get it until much later. My father kept much of his dark hair until his mid eighties.

No I'm just clicking attach files and photo library then picking the photo, resizing it, and adding it.

My mom was completely white-haired at 40 (when I was born, so my teen years can't be blamed). I wasn't at all surprised to have plenty of gray fairly early. My profile pic is just a little over a year ago, and it doesn't look that gray, but I guess the last year has done me in because now I have plenty!

Back on subject, sort of, I did order me a nice desk mat since I can't locate my mouse pad anyway. I'll post a nice, new pic of my setup once that arrives.

I suspect this past year and a half has made many go gray early. For myself for the longest time I had very dark brown hair, but over the past 5-6 years watching over my father’s illness till the end and now watching over my mother and throwing the f****** pandemic into the mix has brought the gray on perhaps earlier than it might have.

More on topic you’re not doing anything wrong. I have had the occasional instance where a photo came out turned on its side or even upside down. I’ve seen it happen with my iPhone rather than my iPad. I think it can have something to do with how the phone is held when you take the picture. If you hold the phone upright in its usual position then no problem, but if you turn the phone sideways for a landscape type shot then sometimes you might get the photo being saved oriented on its side, something you can easily correct in Edit.

Having said all that I’ve never seen a photo oriented properly in my library get attached or exported oriented the wrong way. That I don’t understand.

I'm sorry for your loss. Been there in the not so distant past with my mom, and it was brutal. I lost my dad nearly 26 years ago - much quicker, but not really any easier. :(

I actually found out a dear friend passed just today. I was supposed to visit her last summer (we haven't lived in the same state in years), and couldn't because of Covid. She found out she had cancer about that time, and lost her battle this morning. Had a really good, long cry. Sometimes life really sucks.

Sorry for the derail, and depressing post.

Back to stupid, sideways photos and colorful iMacs!

Posting again here. I added some matte white 3M 2080 vinyl wrap to my UltraFine 5k bezels to match the iMac. The black contrast was driving me nuts. It’s not perfect, but it works and makes it easier to work on for me. If I’m feeling ambitious I might smooth the outside out a bit and try to wrap the stand and back orange.

(Tried to use the same lighting)

Very nice! How do you like the color of the iMac, in person? From the pictures and video I've seen, I feel the orange iMac looks more like a burnt orange. I'd be torn between it and the "yellow."

I'm glad you all are happy with your new iMacs... (seriously I do mean that)... but I can't stand this color biz and the white bezels are truly terrible...I just can't get past it.

IMO, the white bezels are better. The previous aluminum iMacs never looked great — the iMac G5s and original Intel Macs looked infinitely better. Needless to say, I was disappointed when I saw what Apple came up with for the re-designed iMac back in 2007. The iMac deserves to look fun.

I get the same result with photos taken from my iPhone - in Photos they look stellar. I export one and I'm looking at an image that's upside down or sideways.

I've learned to put my images through ImageOptim (a macOS app - tick off the Zopfli compression method and play with the optimization speeds in Preferences) because I assume that EXIF data is somehow messing it all up.

I will return when I get my hands on a 24" iMac - I'm getting nearer.

Love the white monitor. I hate the all black plastic everything from the Pc world. Everything looks cheap and boring.

I still like the old design but the new one just looks way more… homely? Comparing them side by side the black bezels just looks so stark and attention grabbing. Apple was smart to use light colors on the front and deep colors on the back for the new design. Best of both worlds.

Here's my silver! This is my first Mac in a long time. I've been iPad-only since late 2016. I actually still could be, but I recently started a new WFH job where the ability to view multiple windows and documents at once on a larger screen is extremely helpful. I was actually considering getting a 12.9 iPad for that purpose but then Apple announced the iMacs and I knew this was exactly what I needed. I've been using this all weekend and I can honestly say I've never had a better computer. It's just so fast, the screen is incredible, and it's absolutely perfect for what I need to do. Using it with my 10.5 iPad Pro via Sidecar is just so cool. Together they feel like one big connected machine (which I suppose they are) and it brings touch capabilities directly to the Mac, in a way, for things like signing documents. I love it.
Nice setup, nice desk, nice bright work area. Oh, and nice computer 🙂. Looks very organized and inspiring!

❤️ this. Here is a mouse I bought to use with my M1 Macbook Air. Being a devoted Logitech mouser, I was really surprised how great this thing is. It’s bigger than it looks in the photo, and fits the hand perfectly. I was so taken by the pink, and thought I’d share with you in case you’re not totally in love with your mouse.
