A little pink update. 🐽

What theme is everyone going for with their new iMac's then?
I currently have the light theme in use, but am tempted to knock it over to 'auto' so that when the sunsets it'll go dark.

I still can't get over this display! It's just gorgeous and I haven't even tried watching or streaming anything on it yet! I imagine I will be in for a treat when I do.

Started as dark, but went back to auto for now. The amount of whiteness on the screen was a bit glaring at first, but warming up to it.

After a week of use, I’m confident that the naysayers are wrong about the bezel. The only time you notice the bezel is when the screen is off (which it rarely is if I’m at home). Otherwise, it blends perfectly.

When the previous design language was introduced, with the silver colouring and black bezels, Apple had taken a turn to make their machines look more business like, more “professional” if you want. Some could have seen it as Apple having finally arrived at respectability. And it cemented the idea of Apple being a premium brand.

With the new iMac and forthcoming MacBooks they are not abandoning that identity, but evolving it. The new iMacs are colourful again, but not in the dayglow way they were twenty years ago. This is a more lowkey, more refined way of recapturing the enthusiasm of the first iMacs. It’s bolstered by the reactions of most everyone who sees these new machines firsthand in person—they all say the finish is stunning and has a very refined look. And thats backed up by the impressive overall performance of these M1 iMacs.

So Apple is not abandoning its established identity, but evolving it for broader appeal. Pro like abilities and subdued tones of silver and grey still exist for those who prefer that, but now the brand can appeal to others who otherwise might not have seriously considered Apple before.

Mainstream PC computers are not fun—they are tools and look the part. Apple has long look refined, but now they look fun again, too.

Posting again here. I added some matte white 3M 2080 vinyl wrap to my UltraFine 5k bezels to match the iMac. The black contrast was driving me nuts. It’s not perfect, but it works and makes it easier to work on for me. If I’m feeling ambitious I might smooth the outside out a bit and try to wrap the stand and back orange.

(Tried to use the same lighting)

The 3M tape looks excellent. It really made a difference in complimenting your new iMac.

I was wondering what I was going to do with the external monitor black bezels ... perfect!

Same ... now using: Auto. But, in general, I am using the Light appearance a lot more ... in the past with the old iMac I often used to use the Dark in the daytime. Btw, I am sticking with the Accent color and the Highlight color both selected for This Mac ... mine is green.

❤️ this. Here is a mouse I bought to use with my M1 Macbook Air. Being a devoted Logitech mouser, I was really surprised how great this thing is. It’s bigger than it looks in the photo, and fits the hand perfectly. I was so taken by the pink, and thought I’d share with you in case you’re not totally in love with your mouse.

Neat! I am training myself to use a mouse again ... always have been a trackpad person.

I'm surprised we haven't seen any Purple iMacs on this thread yet (at least I don't think so). from all the videos of the unboxing it seemed like it was a good color.

Also after a week of using my iMac with the light grey bezels using my MacBook Air with the black bezels really bothers me. the black bezels stick out so much now haha.

When I started using Big Sur I was struck by how the subtleties of the interface placed a greater emphasis on content. I think Apple’s design choices with the new iMac do the same. At the same time, the new iMac is attractive even when not in use. It’s a thoughtful and really smart design and more complex than it might first appear. The colors are so joyful but at the same time the way the front color is muted ensures that it doesn’t interfere with what’s being displayed on the screen.

No I'm just clicking attach files and photo library then picking the photo, resizing it, and adding it.
If I click the Attach files button in Macrumors I don't get a photo library selection. Strange.
