Decided to put my hp monitor in a different room and paired it with my white Samsung monitor. Looks better I think.

I agree. Black bezel monitors seem “off” and distracting now. That’s why I put some wrap on mine. I’m really hoping Apple introduces new consumer level monitors soon to hopefully match.

❤️ this. Here is a mouse I bought to use with my M1 Macbook Air. Being a devoted Logitech mouser, I was really surprised how great this thing is. It’s bigger than it looks in the photo, and fits the hand perfectly. I was so taken by the pink, and thought I’d share with you in case you’re not totally in love with your mouse.

Thank you but I have a back up mouse I bought years ago I could use but I like the Apple mouse so far.

I'm surprised we haven't seen any Purple iMacs on this thread yet (at least I don't think so). from all the videos of the unboxing it seemed like it was a good color.

Also after a week of using my iMac with the light grey bezels using my MacBook Air with the black bezels really bothers me. the black bezels stick out so much now haha.
I’m aiming to be the first!! Should get mine within a week 🤩

Green with white bezels almost disappears in a natural setting. I expect blue would too. Forgive lack of cord management. I have a grommet behind the computer, but requires taking drawers out, so haven't done it yet. First 3 photos are at night and last one is during the day. Don't laugh....but yes, my upstairs office is my bath vanity and I do get a lot of work done there with my morning coffee ;)View attachment 1779412View attachment 1779413View attachment 1779418View attachment 1779420

Your iMac is lovely, but your long-haired isabella tan doxie is the star of the show, in my books. Congratulations on both1

Am I the only one that is noticing the desk that everyone has as much as the stunning iMac's? And that a computer with color is making some people change their desk so that they and us, can see the backs of them when they walk into their office, kitchen, etc... I would. And I have never wanted an iMac before, but the colors make me want one now :) And I know people are staging their desk ( cleaning them up ) for the pictures. But I don't care they look amazing. If you know the Brand of your desk, will you please post them?

I have to say that the new iMac design does nothing for me. It certainly won't be a timeless classic like the original iMac or the "lamp" iMac. It looks cheap and plasticky. And yes I have seen them in the stores too. In my opinion the pastel shades was a mistake. Pastel belongs on your walls, not your computing equipment.

Silver (sorry for the rather poor lighting).

Silver here too!! I love the colors, but couldn’t commit.

I also can’t get my lighting right. The pics look yellow for some reason since I have all my stuff out - maybe it was just when I had the screen on. Oh well, my desk pad should be here in a day or two, and I’m gonna take a new photo of the setup to post.

Try a white balance adjustment setting prior to taking a photo...

You are in the minority, particularly with your view that aluminum and glass looks more plasticky than the actual plastic of the original G3 iMacs.

No one can concretely say what will or will not look timeless in the years to come. Standards change particularly when you live long enough to see things once seen as ultra modern and seemingly cutting edge when new become very dated, quaint and even clunky.

As I posted elsewhere the previous generation iMac with its silver/black design looked sleek, premium and ultra high tech even as it aged in comparison to the vast majority of PC competitors, yet it took the new iMac design to finally make the old look dated.

I didn't say that aluminium looks plasticky. The iMacs look great from the back. It's the entire front surface that looks plasticky. That is my honest opinion after looking at them for real in an Apple Store, and reinforced by all the photos here. It just looks like something you might find in a Dental Surgery.

I'm not such an Apple fanboi that I think every item Apple ever produces is a design classic, or better than what came before.

I am interested in this thread as I didn't manage to see all the colors, so perhaps there is one that looks better. I haven't seen it yet.

Sounds like the new iMac may not be for you.

I am not a fan of all the iMac designs or products. I couldn’t care less about Apple Watches or Airpods. After the G3 I thought the sunflower and white pizza box iMacs were just too bizarre. I quite liked the silver/black redesign as it was refined over the years. Generally speaking I’m not a laptop person because I don’t need that kind of device. That said I can still be curious about these products from a technical and commercial perspective.

I was surprised by the new design given the apparent certainty of the rumours prior to release, but the more I see it the more I like it. It isn’t without criticism, but whatever criticism I have is insignificant. I’m not a fan of all the colour options, but thats not a fail on Apple’s part because it isn’t necessary to like all the colours. As long as there is at least one colour I like then it’s all good. In this case I like three or four of the colour options, some more than others.

Copy a block of pastel color from one of the iMac product images into photoshop, and print it out to fill a "chin size" strip of paper. Stick that under your existing monitor. Doesn't it look a bit odd having that in your line of sight?

Perhaps it's just me.
