Clearly not the M1 iMac... good to see the older stuff still being used/useful. Looks like the 2006 24" iMac ... the 2007 model had black bezels,IIRC.
I always think I will use my old computers (for something), but I never do. I am thankful for Apple's recycling/trade-in program ... but if my Apple stuff is really old and worthless will they still take it? (I will still keep my '84 Mac)

Yeah... they take it for recycle.

They will most likely take it for recycling but they won’t let you offer it up for their trade in program as they would give you $0,- in return.

Have until today to decide if I wanna activate the return window for my iMac 8gb ram. Have a 16gb on order for 22nd June delivery and I have an extra 14 days to return my current one once I open the return period, so that would take it up to the 17th.

Decisions to make. All in all, I’m happy with how the 8gb ram one has performed especially since I’ve been editing a few 20/30 minute wedding videos.

Thanks to the OP for this thread. I've found it v useful and it has changed my mind.

My first impression of the new colours was that they were pointless frivolities of no interest to me and that I would definitely be getting a silver one as I use my Mac for work, not play.

However, having seen the images posted here of the new iMacs in "real life" settings (as opposed to carefully selected and staged promotional advertising photographs) I have changed my mind. The silver option now looks dull and drab by comparison. I think I'll be going for blue.

I've also reversed my view on the black bezels. While never a deal breaker, I now like the new look more than the traditional one.

I also found it helpful to see the comparisons between 27" iMacs and the new 24" models.

I’m honestly a huge fan of the silver bezels and all the commotion it had when it was announced was blown out of proportion imo. It just blends in so nicely with the surroundings and you barely forget it’s even there. I think design wise, apple got it spor on (apart from the massive chin)

People say white bezels are distracting, I just don't get it. Most people's walls are off white or light. Maybe you're in a studio or a man cave where everything else is black, which would make the white stand out. My new iMac just came in and I put it next to my old one. The old bezel looks a lot more prominent, and makes the screen feel boxed in. It basically looks like this when I have them side by side.

And when dark mode is on, the white bezels still disappear because I only use dark mode when it's dark, so the bezels match my walls. I know people who use dark mode all the time, so that would would make the white bezels look silly.

I know people who wear all black and they say that they always buy black because it blends in. However, wearing all black really makes you stand out in most environments. So this preference for black seems more ideological than anything. No color blends in or stands out on it's own, it depends on what it's around.

Did you hold your phone In he same orientation - portrait/landscape? That always affect the way the photos appear in the Photos app. Of course, you can edit the photo In Photos to rotate it to have the correct orientation.

Yeah - same. I just posted the pics from my phone vs iPad, though I have no idea why that would make a difference.

Nice! The blue pad has got a lot of space. Sometimes I think the the silver Mac is less distracting ... maybe that was the way I should have gone? If I get bored with the green I may trade for another color. It's like trading in cars for another color ... except much cheaper!

Lol well I did the car thing recently too. I had a black vehicle. We live on a gravel road. It drove me absolutely insane. Plus my cats tore the hood up - I’ve never had any other color paint scratch up like that just from cats jumping up on it. It wasn’t really the ONLY reason I traded it in, but it was a big part of it. I now have, yep you guessed it because I’m SO out the box, SILVER. ;-p

I love the pad though - never had one on my desk before, but I like having that and not having to use a regular mouse pad, which I always seem to be at the very edge of at the most inopportune times.

Good choice on the blue over silver.

Having had 2 weeks to work with the new iMac alongside an ancient 24" Apple Cinema display, the new iMac looks so much better with it's light colored bezels compared to the harshness of the black Cinema display bezels...

Black bezels makes everything look constrained.

Not as fancy as some of your setups, but I did get my desk mat today, and I really like it! I figured since I couldn’t commit to the blue iMac, I’d get the blue pad. ;-p

My picture is straight too!
After seeing all these desks with the pretty desk pads I need a new PINK one! I just have a boring black ikea one....

HEY! my hubby did that with his hello paper, too! put it under his new iMac!

and yes... the gray bezels are awesome. I don't like any of the screens I see with black bezels now!

and black vehicles with their swirl marks! I swore we'd never have another one after our black SUV but we actually ended up with a black truck but have just had to get over the anal-ness of the dirt etc! my white car rarely looks dirty unless it's REALLY dirty or on the rare occasion it rains... and it get muddy.

My new iMac is sitting next to a Performa 630 (which dates to 1994), and a G3 SnowBook (2001)... These are worth a lot more than anyone would get for trade in!

And they are used pretty much every day.

I don't use my compact Macs for anything though - rather too electronically fragile these days!

It's kinda amazing how garish and outdated the old apple display looks compared to the iMac there.

I activated my trade-in at the time I ordered the new iMac ... since I wanted to keep the net cost below a thousand dollars. I know, different from what you are doing with a return, but I figured the newer M chip iMacs were coming out later this year and I think it gives me a little more value to trade up the newer the machine. It's like trading cars now.

I'm glad you all are happy with your new iMacs... (seriously I do mean that)... but I can't stand this color biz and the white bezels are truly terrible...I just can't get past it.
Let me explain: once there was a car company who said you could have any color as long as it was black ... and then another car company came along and said you could buy cars in different colors. QED

Honestly, if they are still working & can do basic tasks like email, web, word, excel & zoom - consider giving them to disadvantaged kids that struggle with homeschooling (if that's still a thing where you live, no idea how the US handles the pandemic right now).

Opted to just stay for the 8gb ram iMac. Changing everything over will be a hassle for me. Hopefully the new MacBook Pro’s are released in July, will go for the 16gb of that.
