The cesspit of civilization
A mere mortal's home office setup. No computer monitor but a 4K tv (it was a gift). In several states of disarray. I don't do neither music nor video production. I use it mainly to use slack, review neurophysiology studies, papers and notes, keynote presentations.

The glass has apple juice.

Dig the 60s style chairs!

Thank you. As a few other people have have mentioned, and most of us likely believe, we are fortunate when we get to set up our space exactly as we want to maximize our productivity. It was before my time, but I appreciate the form and function of midcentury modern furniture.

Is it worth to get the Apple $999 monitor stand instead of getting a monitor arm? I'm looking forward to getting a XDR display and just wonder

In my opinion, it depends on the use case. If I am going to have multiple monitors in landscape orientation I have tended to prefer monitor arms. I have had Humanscale arms when I wanted to mount two monitors (and the iMac Pro vesa) and a Monoprice four-monitor stand that could mount four Dell P2715Q monitors in 2x2 orientation. I generally prefer my monitors in portrait orientation and for portrait I often find the manufacturer's stand the right choice because otherwise the monitor arms fight in the background. But for landscape orientation I have used monitor arms plenty of times.

A monitor arm offers the same functionality (plus more) as the stand and takes up less space. I would opt for a nice arm over the stand. I have the stand and hardly ever use it (using it now for my home office, but wishing I had my arm instead).

Trash can still running strong in my jungle of a home. We'll be ordering the 7,1 for our production company in the coming weeks, but the 6,1 has been serving well for work-from-home duties. Our shop has been running iMac Pros for the last couple of years and we can't wait to start transitioning back to the towers.

Doesn't look like it, currently connected to the A440's. I'm running the Denon over HDMI and it's showing fine there.

I wouldn't read too much into what Audio/MIDI Setup reports. On my system (MP 5,1 with a Creative Inspire 5700 decoder/speaker set hooked up to the optical out) it just shows 'Encoded Digital Audio 48.0 kHz' when I'm playing 5.1. None of the config options make a bit of difference to the Creative. If you happen to try the optical out to the Denon, let me know…

^^^^The 2019 NcMP wont run Mojave. Catalina is the minimum OS.

I don't think anyone has hacked a new machine to run Mojave.

this probably a stupid question, but do you all downgrade to Mojave or keep Catalina on new ones?

Catalina been rock solid for me !
