nice! did you get the regular or Plus jetblack?

After 2 weeks the regular jetblack I am thinking of selling it and buying a jetblack iPhone 7 Plus. I am just worried I will have a hard time to adept to the Plus...

Had to be the Plus, after owning the bigger version before I don't think I could go back to the smaller screen. Plus I wanted the new cameras of course.

No doubt the regular size is easier to hold and use, but I've got pretty big hands so I don't have too much trouble. Whenever I have to do something on my wife's regular sized iPhone it just feels small.

There's a definite period of adjustment when you move over to the Plus, but you get used to it after a few days. I can type one handed on it easily (I am now) but I still often switch to two hands because it's quicker.

Other than that everything else gets easy to live with, I think at least and there's always reach ability to help out.

Have you tried using the Plus? I know you don't get the full benefit of how living with it would be if you try in a store, but you do at least get a feel for how it is in your hands.

I have tried a matte black iPhone 7 Plus (from a friend) and that one was very slippery. Now that I have got a regular jetblack I am aware of the nice grip, so I might go for the Plus.

thanks for your input and enjoy your jetblack iPhone 7 Plus! :)

Jet Black Plus here...almost 1 week in, no cases for me, and not a single mark on it. It is far more durable than even I expected, and I knew to expect the general musings of tech media to be nonsense, as per usual.

I probably have a slightly more delicate usage pattern than the average person... I don't throw my $1000 phone onto piles of rocks and pretend like that's normal.

Oh I definitely am ;) though I'm not playing with it so much, guess even with the changes I'm too used to iPhones now. Though the speed of Touch ID compared to the 6+, bloody hell that takes getting used to, I'm trying to remember the bloody thing lights up when I pick it up instead of pressing the button
Not that that's a bad thing, I like that I'm (mostly) just straight into using it as I normally would.

For anyone else wondering just how different the grip is on the Jet Black finish, here's a completely unscientific video. There's nothing on my hand or phones in any of the clips. Just clean hand and nakit phones. Of course if you own one already this isn't news to you.

(Excuse the bit of mess in the background if you see it, I'm working on a 3D model and it's being a pain in the butt, so there's all sorts lying around at the moment. I'm usually neat and tidy, honest :D)

I had a crazy issue with Apple yesterday. My original JB Plus came with a very noticeable scratch on it. Apple agreed to send me a replacement device. Well, the replacement device also had a ton of micro scratches so I opened up another claim. The first senior advisor agreed to replace it but the second senior advisor told me that Apple does not warrant scratches at all even if they occur in shipping. I was then told that if send back my original phone and keep the replacement (also scratched mind you), upon receipt, Apple would determine that the scratch was not a covered defect (even though it occurred before I got it) and they would charge me for both phones. Absolutely stunned.

That's complete BS on their part. You reserve the right for exchange/refund for a period of 14 days, unless of course you did it after 14 days and they do have the right to not exchange (wouldn't know if you caused the scratch)

Part of the problem is I bought from Target but they have no phones so I cannot exchange it through Target. SO I am left dealing with Apple. They are now letting me keep the replacement which is better shape than the first one but both definitely were scratched out of the box. I still think it's outrageous for them to suggest scratching may occur during shipping and is not a covered defect. I have it in writing in my chat!

Email Tim Cook. Executive Relations will call you and most likely get this resolved for you.

I would ask to speak to the manager, as they are usually always looking to make the customer happy.

It was the senior manager who said I should expect micro scratches during shipping and apple would not warrant cosmetic defects out of the box.

To clarify: expect may be too strong. She said Apple could not guarantee that the micro scratches would not occur during shipping. And that they would not be covered by Apple.

I must be a special kind of stupid.

I had the 3G in black, scratched up to the point of not seeing any shiny black. Then in the iPhone 4 / 5 era somehow I got OCD for scratches, and spent several hundreds on cases and protectors for all iPhones since then.

I still think the 3G with the shiny back is the prettiest iPhone of them all, and was very happy to see JB being announced, and immediately decided to get one of those. So I did.

OCD and all, bought the apple silicone case with it. At home, after initial setup and two days of naked use, the fear got to me and I took out the case, cleaned the back of the phone on my (seemingly) clean shirt and was greeted by 4 to 5 nice swirls on the back. Not micro-whatevers, no- feelable scratches.

It was the best thing ever. The silicone case sits in a drawer at home, and the iPhone has been picking up battle-scars everywhere, and I must say - I'm loving the look!

Now into my third week of ownership, and it's still very shiny and nice, but not flawless. The edges that touch tables (lower right, due to camera bump) are scratched. there are several longer scratches in the middle.

Digging it more every day. I have a leather sleeve for drop protection when in transit, and butt bare naked anywhere else. Set it free!

Only have had my JB 7 for 1 day, but I really like it more than I thought I would. Was worried about how bad the fingerprints would look on the back, but it reality, it's no where near as bad as what my Samsung S7 Edge back looks like. That is a real finger print magnet with it's glass back. The iPhone with it's glossy metal back hides it a lot better. If the 8 comes out with a glass black, some people may OD on OCD if it's anywhere near as bad as the Samsung.

It's too damn hard to take a photo with iPad to show those micro abrasions. They're only showing at certain angles. I had mine for two weeks. Best I could do:

Got it the Friday after launch, just like every one who got up early the week prior. :D
I use a clear skin on the back of the iPhone, and use a full coverage glass screen protector.
Plus a clear case that only is preventive of scratches, since it's really a anti scratch case, there's not much to it.

You can add AppleCare+ without anyone looking at it. Just do it online. Coverage is not affected by scratches.

Nice job wearing a ring and letting phone slide down hand. Get any scratches from ring?

I'm also finding it to be more durable than expected. The other night, I groggily struggled to connect my phone to the dock and was worried that the dock's lightening connector would have scratched up the bottom of the phone. The verdict? Not a trace of a scratch and there was some serious metal-to-metal contact there.

Have you had your phone in that product red case the whole time and still got those micro scratches? Thanks.
