I've had mine for a week now and it's totally fine. Granted it's in a Spigen tough armor case. I do take it out of the case once in a while to admire its beauty and to clean the pocket lint out of the exposed buttons/ports.

be careful with holding your Matte Black iPhone a.k.a. slippery soapblock!
and if you put your iPhone in a case, careful with small parts of dust or miniscule parts of sand between the case and iPhone...those can and will cause nice scratches during time ;) ;)

I dropped my iPhone 6 4 times over 2 years and all the body has are 2 dings in 2 corners.Zero scratches.I am sure the Jet Black will look like its been through the meat grinder inspite of not dropping it over a year just from normal use.It develops scratches just by wiping it with a piece of cloth. You dont wanna know whats gonna happen if its dropped naked.

All the beauty in the world doesnt mean a damn thing if it cant remain unscathed for even a month. The funny thing is that my Matte Black iPhone 7 Plus will end up looking better than the Jet Black after a year while the Jet Black is constantly depreciating and I will even get a better resale value on it than the JB as the icing on the cake

haha 80% of your comment is 100% BS.
But hey, if it makes you feel more better or superior, go ahead, grab your moments of fame! ;)

Be careful with that. I bought a Joli sleeve for my iPad and a speck of sand or something must have gotten in it and stuck to the inside of the sleeve. It scratched my iPad's screen three times just around the same spot. I've been hesitant to use it again since.

Yeah that's my concern as well. So I'm always checking my sleeve to make sure it's clear of debris.

So far so good, Jet black naked and no micro scratches at all

Love the plus size, first I have had in that size.
Thought it was going to be slippery as hell, but as others have noted, actually feels great.
Love the JB look but its a nightmare magnet for fingerprints, oil of hands etc, but I knew that before buying.
Put glass screen protector on the front and ordered skin for rear, but it lasted one day and got scratched twice on the back before protector arrived. That was from having in my pocket or on computer desk.
This year I got it through upgrade program and with apple care. So as others have pointed out, ain't going to sweat over it as in 11 months, will have the latest flavour of the month and apple dont care whither its scratched to hell lol.
So yeah love my new toy.

The JB is so troublesome that even if you put a skin on the backside, the iPhone and FCC labels all get peeled off when you remove it.This color just insists on giving you trouble. One of my friends put his in a Spigen Rugged case and yet there were scratches on the sides of the phone when he removed it after 2 weeks

Loving my jetblack, Took it out of the plastic see threw wrapper and rubbed all my fingers across it and it wasn't that bad as per fingerprints. The phone looks incredibility sharp and good looking. The portrait mode is fantastic as well.

Don't want to jinx myself, but two and a half weeks in the silicone apple case and no scratches.

So, why are people who don't even own thisnphone in here insisting it's terrible? Wait. Don't answer that. I guess it's rhetorical.
Some people did own it and have a bad experience, so they swapped out for another color...others like myself have had a great experience. Different strokes for different folks.

Jet black owners. Please come back here in six months, and tell us about your beautiful phone. :)
It might have more scratches/micro abrasions yeah, but anyone who keeps their phone down the line probably won't care about that at that point, it might bother you but that's why you don't have the JB model.

Plenty of people have come on this thread already saying they don't care about the abrasions etc. If they cared about it they would've swapped it out by now. Someone who cares about that will have swapped it out way before a 6 month timeline.

There is no right or wrong here, people will like what they wanna like. Can't force your agenda down everyone else's throat.

I'm not so sure- I have a matte black since release day, I'm not using a case. There are a couple scratches on the logo and scuffs on the back. I have been pretty careful, not setting it down on hard surfaces, etc. but the dark color phones (or pocket computers) all show scuffs and marks. It's just the nature of using and carrying around a metal object every day.

I have the JB 7+ that I use without a case and it has the same marks that my iPhone 6 and 6s developed. The two bottom corners have scuffs from where they get set down/slid on whatever surface on which they happen to end up.

I haven't looked at it under super bright light to check for scratches because I couldn't care less. When I clean off the fingerprints with my shirt after using it it looks like it did the day I took the plastic off, save the two scuffs on the bottom.

I will say this: if you can't deal with your precious phone getting a nick here and there, cover it. Doesn't matter what color you get, accidents happen. Grit will find its way into your pocket or sleeve. On the other hand, if you're like me and appreciate the look and feel of the device as it was intended to be used and upgrade on a yearly basis anyway then the jet black is extremely easy to hold. I can set it on my palm and angle it nearly vertical and it stays put. Guaranteed you can't do that with any other finish.

So mine is holding up very well, all naked (the phone). But i have a question about cleaning the fingers on the back. I don't have any scratches yet, what do you recommend to wipe the fingerprints? Just a good microfiber would do it? I´m afraid that when rubbing them the little dust microparticles would make microscratches... Do you recommend watering the back first?
yeah i know im babying it too much what I don´t care :)

I guess if that's important to you, then you made the right choice. Many of us enjoy the look and the grip, and don't lose sleep over scratching.

I'm not Apple, but I would just use a CLEAN microfiber cloth. If it isn't clean you risk using the equivalent of high grit sandpaper on the phone.

Other than a few EXTREMELY MINOR micro abrasions that can only be seen at the perfect (worst) angle my JB+ held up very well over a few weeks.

With that said, I just picked up a matte black today and I've never been so happy to get rid of a phone before (referring to the JB+). Yeah, you can just slap a case on it, but that defeats the entire purpose of the phone. But without one it's just a never ending anxiety attack to use on the daily. Thank god my local Apple store finally got some MB+'s today.

Wait. What? How does a case defeat the ENTIRE purpose of a phone?? I have a case on mine, and it works really good as a phone, texting tool, music player, web browsing device, etc.
No....no....no.....using phone the way you suggest is old school. New thing is to stare at the back of phone, admiring the scratch free back. Everyone on here knows that the new thing. Well that and avoiding getting burned or bringing a plane down.o_O

I think what he meant was if you plan on slapping a case on the phone, any other color variation would be fine, but a good majority of folks who order the JB choose that variation for the grip the phone has.
