Its kinda funny cause I had a matte black that I just sold after scoring a jet black. I find it just as slippery most of the time. I live in Arizona and its damn dry here. Dry hands + jet black = just as slippery as matte black. If Im a little sweaty, the grip is great though.

Agreed. Had a black 7 and ended up with a jet black 7. Both aren't exactly gripping wood grain steering wheels. You will lose grip at some point.

The jet black also shows fine scratches if a fly breathes on it. Within 5 minutes from factory new I could see scratches under the right lighting. Do I care? I always go naked with my phones. Don't care. It's just a damn phone and I'll dump it when the. Edit best thing comes out. It's a disposable item. Thug life.

Excellent point. The Jet Black is likely as grippy as ones hands are. If your hands are dry, it will affect the overall texture of the Jet Black model. I find the same be true with the aluminum models in other colors. If your hands are moist, then the texture is likely to adhere to your skin better.

I had a matte black 7 Plus for a couple of days and returned it when I was able to reserve a jet black 7 Plus. 10 days later and I've had it in a Apple silicon case for 5 days and naked for the last 5 days. I'm actually extremely surprised how it's holding up. I've got one 1/8" hairline scratch that showed up right when I took the phone out of the silicone case. Since it's been out of my case, not a single scratch anywhere. The antenna band lines will scratch no matter what you do I've figured out, but other than that it still looks like the day I bought it and the gripability compared to matte black is insane! I'm in Texas so that may have something to do with it but matte black was most certainly a bar of soap. The 7 Plus jet black feel in the hand is perfect, if only those bezels were shrunk too!

Has anyone tried to polish their phones? Just curious. If I can buff out small marks, then I'd consider going case free for the most part, with some kind of sleeve/pouch for when it's in my pocket or whatever.

Born in raised in Boise, you should see some of the lake front property's in Coeur d'Alene, ID. It's definitely not more scratch resistant than black, but I don't understand how someone can't see how much more grip jet black provides.

I have had the jet black for 3 weeks and man it is scratched. I had the 6 plus in space gray, the 6s plus in rose gold and neither had any visible scratches. But I do love the feeling of jet black compared to the regular finish, which would always slide off my hands.

Looks like you are rough with your phone. I've had mine just as long, and take extra care. I have 1 small scratch seen only under bright lighting.

Do you ever wipe it with a cloth? I would not say i am rough, i just use it and no babying it.

Mine's naked and has plenty of very fine scratches on both the front and back, just like my previous space grey iP6. Don't think they really that much more noticeable on the JB iP7 unless you're angling into some light to show them.

I'm still very happy with my choice, and think it's probably the best looking iPhone they've made. I also love the extra grip over my iP6.

What's the exchange policy for iPhones? Does it have to be totally unusable before you can change for a new one?

That's what I'm thinking about doing if I don't just trade it in to Apple for the next iPhone.

Doesn't matter. You can just toss it and let it hit the ground if Apple won't let you swap it in the condition it's in.

Had my iPhone for 2 weeks and although I haven't been looking too hard for scratches I did notice one tiny micro scratch by the speaker grill at the bottom.
