I have had the jet black for 3 weeks and man it is scratched. I had the 6 plus in space gray, the 6s plus in rose gold and neither had any visible scratches. But I do love the feeling of jet black compared to the regular finish, which would always slide off my hands.

Wow. I guess jet black owners have to resign themselves to having phones with next to no resale value. I sure would not want to buy anyone else's scratched-to-hell iphone.

I didn't misread the title. I just wanted to give people something to compare with, it looks pristine (MB 7+). Though, to be completely honest, I'd love to have the JB but it isn't available anywhere. I would pick it over my MB but slap a clear case on it.

I just wanted to give people comparison, feel free to remove this post if you want though. My black doesn't have a mark, and it looks great, albeit not as gorgeous as the JB. Some people might prefer that since, from what I've seen and heard, there is no JB phone that lasts more than a week without at least a scratch, case or not.

I would still love the Jet though, and baby the hell out of it. Matte is surely more practical for people who don't have time to baby a phone (I've used mine caseless and not been overly careful), seriously, if you have a busy life I'd recommend getting it. I don't, so it's a shame I get to stare at the matte finish wishing it weren't as slippery :(

Got the JB iPhone 7 Plus, and loving it.

No case, just have it naked for about 3 weeks now, and using it as how I've used other phones before. I suggest, just buy the phone you want and use it as is.IMG_3674.JPG

you can also have a JB like that if you take BASIC precautions.
These people are members of an Apple forum, reading the iPhone section. I'm sure they're not mistreating their JB. Maybe some go caseless, but even with cases you end up with micro scratches.
I'd take these any day over my dull matte though.

Has anyone tried to polish their phones? Just curious. If I can buff out small marks, then I'd consider going case free for the most part, with some kind of sleeve/pouch for when it's in my pocket or whatever.

Excellent question. There's a lot that can be done with a black car finish when it gets "micro abrasions". You can fill in the scratches so that they're not noticeable. However, that's paint and this is metal.

The JB is so troublesome that even if you put a skin on the backside, the iPhone and FCC labels all get peeled off when you remove it.This color just insists on giving you trouble. One of my friends put his in a Spigen Rugged case and yet there were scratches on the sides of the phone when he removed it after 2 weeks
Yeah your right mate, saw that re the skin. In the end got Tech-21 case from apple store yesterday, feel a bit better of at least putting down on desk now, but point taken, think your right, will get rubbed up as its hard plastic.
Love the actual phone though, lovely screen and performance.

I decided to return my JB immediately when it arrived. The store models looked terrible. I don't want to be wiping my phone off all day and I prefer case-less.

Officially sold my JB+. The matte isn't as striking, but I love it so much more. The lack of pure anxiety when using it immediately makes it the superior finish in my opinion.

I'm not sure what the concern with jet black is all about. I've had mine for a full week now and other than the scratch I noticed on the first day that may or may not have come with the phone, I've had no new scratches on mine. It's holding up way better than I thought it would after comments I've read from other people. I don't use a case either.

Pretty sad here... bought an iPhone 7 128GB Jet black 3 weeks ago, and actually is pretty scratched already... even it have some dots on the back that can't be wiped out...

i've always used it in a case (nillkin nature clear case)... but as far as time goes more scratches it gets, specially in the camera cutout border (full of dots that can't be wiped off)...

I really wanted to show to you some photos but as everyone knows they are hard to see on a camera...

I can't be upset about the micro scratches because i knew that they will come out eventually, but what about that little dots... is there a way to clean them off?

(oh and please don't make me talk about the antenna bands, they are absolutely scratched already)

Its impossible to keep it scratchproof. My buddy's iPhone 7 was in a Spigen Rugged case and even then it scratched. You cant use body protectors as they remove all the labels ON the back lowering resale value even more. I was a fan of Jet Black till I got an hands on experience.Never Again

I have had the Jet Black 7 for about a month now. Whilst I waited for the Nomad Leather Case to arrive, I placed my iPhone in the Siena leather sleeve that I had for my 6S. Because of the slightly different dimensions, the sleeve was a bit of a tight fit. Turns out that pulling it out of the sleeve and putting back in multiple times a day caused many micro-abrasions, and placing the Nomad case on caused scuffing on the bottom. Both had a microfiber lining. Thankfully, the markings are not at all noticeable unless caught in just the right bright light (i.e., held underneath a lamp).

So I’ve been going caseless ever since (particularly since I bought the Jet Black because of the finish). I work at home, so I normally keep it resting on a microfiber cloth (the black cleaning cloth that came with my iMac) most of the day and place it naked in my back pocket—I never place anything else in the pocket with my iPhone—when I take the dog out walking. For the last week I’ve kept it out of a sleeve/case, I haven’t noticed any new abrasions/scratches. I wanted the Rose Gold 7 before the keynote but now Jet Black is my favourite colour/finish. It’s beautiful (especially when under normal lighting, where none of the abrasions show up) and the grip is the best I’ve experienced with an iPhone (the 3GS was my first and I’ve bought a new one each year from the 4S on). For comparison, my 6 and 6S slipped out of my hands consistently (my 6 was especially scratched from several drops onto the ground). I’m OCD about damage to my iPhone—both because of personal preferences and my desire to keep a high resale value on my iPhones—so we’ll see how I feel about going au naturale after several months, but currently I coudn’t be more pleased with the Jet Black finish.

Give it two more weeks and lets see how you feel.

Same here, unless the iPhone 8 comes with ceramic or glass backing never jet black again...

Don't get why people get so worried over scratches or fingerprints on their phone. I wonder if they're that way with their other stuff.
