I haven't had one Safari crash on my 6+ that's running iOS 9. Not one. On 8.4.1, it was a given that I would have several crashes a day.

It may not be as smooth in certain areas right now, but it's more solid to me than the 8.4.1 release.

The updates to Safari more than make up for anything else that others have described.

but to me, iOS9 is much smoother than iOS8.whatever
I'd say things scroll a lot quicker and no lag that i can see. this is on an iPhone 6 64gb halfway full

Agreed. 2 iPhone 6's 64gb and 1 iPad Air 2 and no issues. Rarely any hesitation with web surfing or scrolling. Installed Purify ad blocker and I'm a happy camper.

LAG FREE DEVICES: Interestingly enough, the iPhone 5/5c and the iPad Air 2 aren't affected in terms of performance compared to 8.4.1 on iOS 9 from what I've seen. Just as smooth.

6 PLUS/iPAD MINI RETINA NOTE: Lag everywhere. Most lag found by opening app switcher with some apps in the background and returning home. Try it out.

Yup! I got the same effect on my 5s. Everything is slow. Even Crossy Road a relatively small game start stuttering and freaking out. Man oh man. Why push a release of something that's a liability. Downgrade to 8.4.1 while you still can. This is sad!

Definitely. Apple told you it was faster and had better battery life, so you naturally believe it's true. Kind of a placebo going on.

I imagine if Apple said the sky was purple, we'd all be sat here arguing about it. Sure, it's blue, but you'd get people saying "well, maybe it's just you, I'm seeing purple here"

The funny thing is I'm bashing iOS9 but I own a million apple devices. I obvious drink the "koolaide" and I own an iPhone 6 Plus, bought my wife a 6, my bought my parents both 5s's, I own an iMac, Macbook Pro, bought my wife a Macbook Pro, and I will continue to purchase devices regardless because it truly is the best device out there on the market. I also own a Note 5 and use it as a wifi device and for my Gear VR headset, I own a Lumia 635 and 640 Windows phone also as a wifi device so I feel that I have the experience to make such comments to be honest. Regardless of this whole iOS fiasco, Apple products and their OS are hands down the best on the market. If someone says the hardware on samsung phones that are Quad-Core and have 4GB of ram are much better need slapped in the head. Having 4x the Ram and Processor means absolutely nothing. It's sad that Android devices need that much Ram to barely keep up with what Apple can do with 1GB of Ram. Apple just knows how to manage their software with minimal hardware is all it means......

That being said, I'm finally back on iOS 8.4.1 and yes, so much better for MY DEVICE (6 Plus).

Makes sense. But have you tried some of the newest Android phones? I mean, I'm a diehard Apple fan. But I'm not anti-anything... so I could definitely use something like the LG G4 on a regular basis. Motorola's got some good stuff coming out soon too.

It literally says it right in the update description.

I'll even quote it for you -

"...improvements at the foundation of the operating system enhance performance, improve security, and give you up to an hour of extra battery life"

Obviously the extra battery is bunk (this is typical Apple spin, as they are referring to putting your phone into "battery saver mode" at low battery, which could give some people up to an hour extra - if you've not already disable loads of the battery draining junk that that setting turns off temporarily)

The apps in iOS 9 now take advantage of Metal, making more efficient use of the CPU and GPU to deliver faster scrolling, smoother animation, and better overall performance. Email, messages, web pages, and PDFs render faster. And multitasking features on iPad feel fluid and natural.

Sometimes I go into stores and try the latest Samsung phone just to see if Android is better than I remember. The stutter and micro lag makes me feel sick... not even an Apple fanboy, but Android will never be as smooth as iOS or even Windows phone (it's still built on top of Java)

Exactly this. I'm a huge Apple fan, but they screwed things up with iOS 9 as far as performance/smoothness is concerned. That, or they straight out lied at the WWDC keynote and their iOS 9 promotional material.

To be fair, iOS 9 has a little bit of lag in various places on many devices. I still strongly favor it over Android, but iOS isn't nearly as far ahead in the smoothness metric as it used to be. It's not a huge deal to me, but I long for the days when everything was fluid on iOS.

The notes are a lie on that. A lot of things seem laggy, iMessage animations. Delay when looking up a contact in iMessage that does not have an active message thread. Even switching to zoomed mode takes longer in iOS 9.

You know I had not read these comments until now, and I've ben having problems with my iPhone ALL DAY! I went to the Apple Store, and told them about my problem. I've been having other phone problems, and mentioned that iOS 9 was felt laggy. I told him I reverted to 8.4.1, and he kept insisting to update to the newest version because it's safer. I was just like ! I've never been so annoyed.

I'm back at iOS 9 to see if I can fix a problem I have, but will probably go back to 8.4.1. I've been downgrading and upgrading all day. -_-

My 5c definitely has random lags in things like launching apps, using the Notes app, etc. I never experienced this in any of the 7 or 8 builds. The "reminiscent of Android" comments are accurate.

I'm not complaining, it doesn't ruin my life; but it is there.
