Exactly. We have a 6S in house and 3D touch is such a hit and miss that it is pointless. Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. I also fail to see it's use in multitasking.

Mr. Skika please explain.
It takes practice not quite like a right click, but it's real smooth once you get the hang of it. I personally like the double tap to get to multi-tasking but it's nice to have options.

The worst part of that is I use the old multitasking for say writing an essay, i keep a screen shot of the content or whatever I need for it open in photos, and I just double tap and its the next app open, so I can see what i need, then go back into pages. Also if you have an A5 device, they removed the quick contacts from multitasking, and they haven't been put back anywhere :(

App switcher is a downgrade from iOS 8 overall. Scrolling left to Siri suggestions is far more cumbersome than the frequent contacts on top of the app window. Also, it's far too choppy compared to iOS 8

To me it's a gimmick and useless. Hell, Even on the default medium pressure settings, I sometimes get the App switcher from swiping from left rather than just going back to the previous page of the current app. Double tap is still the most convenient way to get to the app switcher.

It can be disabled to prevent the app switcher from being invoked. I have mine set to lightest pressure and have not yet invoked the app switcher. Of course the most ingenious use is the trackpad.

1. Everyone got worked up because the exact same animations which ran perfectly smooth in iOS 7 & 8 started to stutter and drop frames.

2. Now why was there a need to add a new task switcher in iOS 9? Neither does it show substantially more number of apps to choose from nor does it allow us to clear all apps from RAM at once. What purpose does it serve?
The only thing it is good at is dropping massive frames and causing lag/stutter. (BTW, it does not look fancy either)

3. Why do all apps have to take extra 1-2 seconds to launch?

4. Why smooth scrolling is not so smooth all of a sudden? (Use WhatsApp on iPhone 5/5c and try to scroll recent chats) The scrolling is at 10-15 fps. It's painful.

Even if Apple do manage to fix these issues by iOS 9.4 (or whatever) by Aug next year, again the Sept release of iOS 10 would be similarly gimped.

So effectively we get 1-2 months for best iOS experience. THIS is unacceptable.

If you look carefully, most of the iOS 8/9 complaints are regarding lag and stutter. It's high time Apple makes a note of this post. They should literally fire underperforming staff who just cannot get basics of good UI right. A bit harsh, I know otherwise, the experience will keep on degrading every year. Soon Apple might find themselves in place of Blackberry. (Slow, clunky and expensive)

This is why I am still on iOS 8.3. Not sure I’ll even update to 9.1. My devices are fine as they are; the last thing I want is ever-present lag.

Just been to Apple store as I was passing by to see how it impacts iPhone 6S out of curiosity.

Turns out iPhone 6S Plus also struggles heavily with dynamic wallpapers and the task switcher combo. The 6S regular is smoother but still not butter.

Those phones have the A9 so if they can't run it well it's definitely software issue that Apple will be forced to fix.

Played around with a Mini 2 running iOS 8.4 in another store. Definitely a difference! So fast by comparison to the majority of iOS 9 devices.

iOS used to be a lot more simple. Since it's grown so has the number of processes hanging out in the background and the increase in memory they all use. Apple is having a hard time controlling all of the chaos as things keep getting more complex. I'm interested to see the feedback on people installing 9.1. If it's back up to 8.4.1 standards I'll dive in! If it still takes 3 taps to get anything to happen after I close and app I'm staying on 8.4.1.

So, how's iPad Air on 9.1 official release? Is it still lag fest? I don't want to lose my Jailbreak's split-screen multitasking if the performance is the same.

Air here. Unsurprisingly no improvement. :)

Edit: I think there's a slight performance improvement. When disabling transparency, the app switcher still lags, but a little bit.

It's been established multiple times that you don't even know 30fps or 60fps is and that you're unable to see the difference.

That being said, the 6s should be smooth as silk. A 15fps drawer animation when drawing up the Control Center is unacceptable.

When 30fps and 60fps drop evenly (15fps), then which one will be more noticeable?

I dislike eye candy, but I turned it on to see the stutter in the task switcher. Yep there is a bit of stutter and also in the control center. I'm sure Apple will address this to everyone's satisfaction.
